That Alfa Romeo GT V6 is horrendous to behold, it'd have to be the ugliest Alfa Romeo to date, and is sacrilegious to the original Alfetta GTV6. I'd take the 200SX with the proper engine the whole world should have got, the SR20DET. The Nissan owner would be sitting back with a smug look on his face as he would be able to run rings around every car mentioned in this video, and he'll have a more reliable car too. Take Clarkson's words with a grain of salt everyone!

You can see just how wrong Clarkson is on how well these cars have aged. The only cars of these which are still worth something are the BMW and the Nissan. Well the Benz too but in my opinion it is a part of the worst looking generation of benz's ever made. How the Alfa could be titled the best coupé, by the man who said they have to look good, is beyond my understanding.

My dad has the c70 nice car but handles like a truck it has lag but when the boost kicks in its great and the turbo sounds awesome I've got an e36 m3 it puts all of these to shame a ff layout is crap especially with a 6 cylinder lots of understeer and shitty out of corners The only thing that looked nice on the alfa were the headers which it better have since the engine is mounted the wrong way and makes them visible

@richboy900 Agree, Alfas are way overrated. They're just Fiats in fancy suits, and putting a pig in a tuxedo doesn't make it a man. When they made the 8C I thought "wow, finally a proper Alfa Romeo." But it had crap handling, a bone breaking ride, and it wasn't that fast. It was like being with a beautiful girl, but she's really stupid and rubbish in bed. The relationship wouldn't last long.

Out of these, I'd probably have the Nissan. But they've all got their good and bad points.

@bullet50000 The 159 is based on the Fiat Bravo, as is the Brera (the Brera is basically a 159 coupe). The Guilietta is their first original car since Fiat took over, and is the only Alfa Romeo released in the last 10 years I'm vaguely interested in.

They do still make their own cars, although you have to admit my point still stands with the MiTo and the 147. I'm not sure about the GT, I don't know much about it. Were they making the 166 before Fiat took over?

I really hate the 8C though - that's just a Maserati 4200 GT in a pretty body. You can't contradict me there - virtually all the components are from Maserati. It's even built in the same place.

That is why i did not mention the CrapTo and the 147 in my askings. I hate them as well, albeit, the 147 GTA is properly crazy, and that is why i owned one. They were bought by FIAT in 1986, so the last properly Alfa car developed in only alfa years was most likely the SZ/RZ. Yes, the 8C is just a Maserati GranTuismo in a, albeit beautiful, different body. Probably the only difference other than the body is the engine, which is probably the same, except bored out.

you are so right. car makers are afraid to do cars with love or hate looks because of the ladder opinion that i listed. the only car maker left in that kind of mind, and it does lean towards the hate side of the opinion is BMW. Chris Bangle does make some ugly cars, but they are brave and interesting. The 2002-2009 7 series is my favorite. the new one has too much of a grill. it is the Nina Totenberg of grills What is she? a Big mouth. (If you disagree, let me bring up Jesse Helms)

@bullet50000 I agree with you, I hate the new 7 series. That said, I wasn't a fan of Bangle's either. I'll give Bangle his dues - at least his work was different. That said, I really didn't like his Z4 - I think the new one is much better looking. I didn't like his 5 Series either.

Apart from the M3, M5 and Z4 I don't particularly like any BMW. I can understand why modern companies are more cautious - look what happened to Aston Martin with the Lagonda.

The lagonda was quite a flop. but think about the V8 Zagato. that was a big and slightly odd jump, but it was beautiful (to me), and it was a bit successful. I really think Zagato should be responsible for more car designs. Pininfarina is getting too common, Ital is just getting ugly (the Daewoo Tacuma in particular), and Bertone only does concepts.

@bullet50000 I like them as well. You can combine the Alfa Romeo passion and soul with exciting performance. They've done a supercharged version of the 147GTA now - has 400 BHP! 0-60: around 4 seconds, top speed around 185! I hope they gave it AWD...
