i saw the 2011 version i thought i wasn't going to like it but i like it but personally i prefer the Swedish i like how rooney did lisbeth but when she said the word please as a fan of the book i kind of didnt like that hahaha but well i think they both are good like if you put them togheter they both create the perfect book adapatation but i still prefer the first lisbeth
The new girl with the dragon tattoo film is awesome...though I liked Noomi Rapace better as Lisbeth. Even though Roney did an amazing job I just find Rapace more convincing.
She looks more desperate and stronger at the same time.
Daniel Craig is much better than the Swedish guy though...Both Fincher's film and the Swedish ones are amazing.
If you read the books you would totally understand why David Fincher's version is better. The Sweedish version left out out and changed too many details.
The swedish version will always be the best, thats what I think. I am a big fan of the books and the movies. And I recomment everybody to read the books too. Because they have the extra information about lisbeth and the story that compleets it
@TakingBackIrene I agree, although the first book is really dull in my opinion; contributing little that the Swedish film couldn't tell you. Except maybe some fun facts about hack skills, swed. journalism, interesting ways to kill people. I think Stieg was having trouble with the first but by the second he had gotten a better hang of writing..ugh..but the first..dear god. Half of it, I speculate, is Stiegs own male fantasy he vicariously lived through the character Blomkvist.
in my personal opinion, noomi just came across as a punk rocker with an attitude problem. she didn't captivate me the way rooney did, she just wasn't lisbeth.
i think the clothes may be to blame, obviously the swedish version had a much smaller budget but it was just overall sloppy compared to david fincher's adaption. yet, the Swedish movies will always have a certain charm to them that hollywood will never succeed in duplicating.
I loved all three of these movies. It made me want to read the books and I started the first novel after I saw the american version of the first movie. I got done the first book within five days. Now I'm on the second one but I'm trying to make it last a little longer since I'm on a waiting list for the third book but I'm the next one to get it. I'm going to be sad when I'm finished reading the series. I REALLY hope they do the american adaps. of the 2nd and 3rd movie.
now that I've seen both girls play the role of Lisbeth, huge kudos for Rooney...she's Lisbeth all the way for me but Noomi does a great job...PS: it's not very good online etiquette to insult other's opinions and viewpoints that disagree from your own by calling them 'ignorant'...just saying
Mara wins it for me. I've seen the film twice in a few days, today I saw the original first and then watched the remake immediately after. I admit I saw the remake first, so as usual in these circumstances that influences where my allegiances lie. I have not read the book (although I plan to), so I'm not sure which is closer to the "true" Lisbeth, but overall I prefer the character as she is portrayed by Rooney Mara.
Agh, Rooney is xillion times hotter!!! Don't know who is acting the best, even to compare the ways Noomi and Rooney look at Bjurman are completely different - Noomi glares at him too way bossy! Rooney is true Lisbeth.
Saw the screening last night...badass! She really did capture the character well, and although the the Swedish version had its own level of connection to the book I'd have to say that Rooney nailed the "innocent girl turned dominant force" more clearly than Noomi. Although, they added something at the end that changed the entire loner concept...enjoy
@MsPingu112 that is because people don't know shit haha..you can not tell how a person is by how they walk...I look down a lot too when I walk doesn't mean unconfident it just means that is my walking style..I can also notice dropped money on the ground if I am lookingdown I can notice things in front of my feet so that I don't randomly trip like other people do. There is a benefit of having a downward gaze while walking...but people always will just think it means something negative
You thought she didn't come off as mysterious or aggressive enough? Are you serious?! I love what you did here with this video but... no. Repace was probably very good for this role but as I've learned from friends it was nothing too memorable.
The soundtrack's track list has been released. The full version of the song is going to be 2:48 long. That keeps it on par with the original LZ version and it means there's still a little over a minute of the cover that we haven't heard yet. :)
i LOVE led zeppelin, i like yeah yeah yeahs a LOT and like karen-o solo stuff too, but WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO IMMIGRANT SONG!! thats just fucked up
If you actually read the books, you'll see that physically, Rooney looks more like Lisbeth Salander than Noomi does, whom a journalist called a "Joan Jett look alike" although I disagree on that.... Anyways, Noomi embodied Lisbeth's attitude perfectly, but you have to admit: the second and third movies were rushed. They were not so good. Having said that, I am stoked to see Rooney's interpretation and will hold my judgement until then, unlike most ignorant people on here....
@TheMunchfan The swedish movies were only rushed because they were actually a tv series of 3 hours each in Sweden and were then edited down heavily to be made into movies for international release. Although I agree that physically rooney looks more like lizbeth than noomi
There is noone else to play Lisbeth apart from Noomi Rapace, she is so Lisbeth. Actually, I have watched all the trilogy for a couple of times and then i have read the written trilogy. While rading i have just seen Noomi everywhere in books.
@TheMunchfan Thank You for realizing that both movies do the book justice. I've seen and studied both, and not only are they total opposites, but they are both great!
@TheGreatKafuffle from the perspective of having read the novels, I would agree. Noomi definitely is not childlike and could most certainly not be mistaken for a young boy or girl (and obv. does not remotely desire breast implants)..However from the perspective of someone whom Noomi fits the epitome of their ideal girlfriend (moi) i'd have to wholeheartedly disagree...I love her as lisbeth...Noomi can stay in those skinny jeans and leather jackets..forever Q A; Q
karen O for me is on the big leagues NEXT TO big stars like Axl Rose, Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, and Robert PLant , and is so hard new millennium artist stay and the marge of the big rock singers, karen O is pure rock, no exist that kind of artist in those years ...
Am I right in saying that this a complete cover of the song?. The actuall cover is about 1:30 long and it is then repeated in this video. Or am I mistaken? I'd love to have a full version of the song covered in this way.
Does any1 know where i can download this track? I'm a fan of NIN & the Yeah yeah yeahs, so naturally this is pretty fuckin' awesome! Link, please, anybody...?

ES UNA pena que ya hallan lanzado la version americana de una pieza tan importante como esta.LA TRILOGIA MILLENIUM ORIGINAL FUE UNA OBRA MAESTRA,FIEL A LAS LOCACIONES QUE SE REDACTAN EN EL LIBRO,Y AL HABERSE FILMADO EN SUECIA LE DA ESE TOQUE ESPECIAL,Y MISTICO .SE QUE FINCHER ES UNA GRAN DIRECTOR PERO COMO ESPECTADORES PIENSO QUE ES MUY PRONTO PARA QUE NOS OLVIDEMOS DE NOOMI RAPACE O NQVIST,QUE SON GENIOS.SIEMPRE HOLLYWOD HACE ESTAS COSAS Y MUCHAS VECES ARRUINAN TODO
i personally dont like the new lisbet look!!! they created a monster and lisbeth is not a monster hahahaha and they have you seen all those promos? they are using lisbeth as a sexual object!!!!!!!!!!!! they try to get peoples attentions by releasing topless posters really? thats really lame!!! hope she doesnt kill the character with her acting and i hope dont commercialize her image like hollywood does
One thing I can say with utter certainty that NO other actress will ever be able to give the same performance as Noomi when it comes to performing the character of Lisbet.
@pobanmanu When I first saw Noomi, I was like "They built this girl for the role. There's no other explanation. She looks EXACTLY how Lisbeth Salander is described. It's uncanny."
@vincentBurden How? She looks nothing like the Lisbeth descriptions from the books. She's 30 and looks it, has too much hair, tattoos too conservative, and much more normal sized from the borderline-anorexic-looking Salander. Noomi Rapace brought a great performance, but physicality-wise, it was a poor choice.
@Strand0410 too much hair???????????? Rooney Lisbeth's has more hair than Noomi. Noomi in the first movie couldn't put her hair into small ponytail???? Too much tattoos. Lisbeth Salander in the book as a lot of tatoos and pirecing. Lisbeth isn't anorexic in the book. Learn to read between the lines! People think she has an eating disorder, but she does not. She's a boxer's, she has a very high metbolism. Blovkisc and Lisbeth's boss knows she doesn't have eating disorder.
@LittleImpaler Salander has less hair and more tattoos than in the Swedish version. Rapace has enough hair to do liberty spikes (much longer than Mara). I NEVER said Salander was anorexic, I said she looks it, and it's been mentioned by several times by other characters that on first impression she's often mistaken as either having it or bieng a young boy. Noomi Rapace does NOT look this skinny, or in any way could be mistaken for a boy, she's too feminine.
@pobanmanu That's the whole point of making another one. Rapace made her own interpretation of Lisbeth and it was absolutely fantastic and so was the film. But I have faith David Fincher will make it great too, and Mara's Lisbeth can be perfect too, she looks young and small and that fits the character described in the books.
@pobanmanu Seeing as Rooney Mara is really an unknown actress ... We might be in for a surprise ... Rooney was a potential candidate for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress last year, with The Social Network.
@pobanmanu Her performance was stellar but the adaptation had so many flaws and took so many liberties that the swedish movie ended up being a bad adaptation. I hope David Fincher does better.
@pobanmanu Have you read the book? I'm perplexed how you can make such a brash statement when this portrayal is nothing, at all, like the book. She is physically both older and different in body type and not nearly introverted enough. Her personality is different than the book. Apparently the producers felt simply dressing her as oddly as possible was adequate to make her a convincing Lisbeth. From what I have seen Finchers's Lisbeth is a much closer to the Lisbeth that Larsson wrote.
@pobanmanu And have to say. . . using the song written for footage of the Fincher version by the person doing the soundtrack for the Fincher version for an homage to this footage strikes me as, frankly, stupid. Was the music from the Rapace version subpar as well? lol
@pobanmanu Holy SHIT SHUT UP no one cares about ur shitty european tv movie version that leaves tons of shit out from the book and is totally not realistic or gritty. Theres 6356457 comments saying the same shit. AND THIS IS A SONG ITS NOT EVEN ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE MOVIE all you people kill yourself. No one cares that your upset your shitty film is going to gain internation acclaim and awards because its going to be made by a genius. Lose some weight you fat ass. ALL OF YOU DIE
@neocore6669 Swedish version that you are speaking of is/was seen world wide, and lot of people in America has seen it and thought it was great. You can order any where in America, Red box, Netfilexs
@tubechiq88 Looped, rumour has it that full cover won't be released seeing Social Network's trailer song 'Creep' wasn't put on the soundtrack by Trent.
@TheKSuto Good point, however there's not really a tradition of putting songs of a trailer on the movie's soundtrack.....let's keep our fingers crossed, I'm as optimistic as you are!
@HorrorMuscle Hasn't been released yet, we also don't know yet whether it would be featured on the soundtrack (I hope it does!). The version I used is in my video is a touched up version of the song.
@xbellaxbrutalityx Thanks! I can email the song to you if you PM me your address through Youtube. To do so, go to your inbox and compose a message and put my username (travisfan2) in the "To" field.
It's not really good to have this soundtrack in the background to this footage, even though it fits almost perfectly it belongs to the US version.

I love Led Zeppelin. I love Nine Inch Nails...and uh Yeah Yeah Yeahs are pretty great...but I HATE this cover. Hate Hate Hate.

One thing I can say with utter certainty that NO other actress will ever be able to give the same performance as Noomi when it comes to performing the character of Lisbet.
pobanmanu 8 months ago 102
@pobanmanu Wholeheartedly agreed! :)
travisfan2 8 months ago
@pobanmanu When I first saw Noomi, I was like "They built this girl for the role. There's no other explanation. She looks EXACTLY how Lisbeth Salander is described. It's uncanny."
vincentBurden 7 months ago
@vincentBurden How? She looks nothing like the Lisbeth descriptions from the books. She's 30 and looks it, has too much hair, tattoos too conservative, and much more normal sized from the borderline-anorexic-looking Salander. Noomi Rapace brought a great performance, but physicality-wise, it was a poor choice.
Strand0410 7 months ago 2
@Strand0410 I haven't read the book, what do you think about Rooney Mara? Does she fit the description?
travisfan2 7 months ago
@travisfan2 Well, physically, she's closer to the book description. Whether she can pull it off or not is yet to be seen, but I'm hopeful.
Strand0410 7 months ago 42
@Strand0410 Me too. Thanks for replying!
travisfan2 7 months ago
@Strand0410 too much hair???????????? Rooney Lisbeth's has more hair than Noomi. Noomi in the first movie couldn't put her hair into small ponytail???? Too much tattoos. Lisbeth Salander in the book as a lot of tatoos and pirecing. Lisbeth isn't anorexic in the book. Learn to read between the lines! People think she has an eating disorder, but she does not. She's a boxer's, she has a very high metbolism. Blovkisc and Lisbeth's boss knows she doesn't have eating disorder.
LittleImpaler 2 months ago
@LittleImpaler Salander has less hair and more tattoos than in the Swedish version. Rapace has enough hair to do liberty spikes (much longer than Mara). I NEVER said Salander was anorexic, I said she looks it, and it's been mentioned by several times by other characters that on first impression she's often mistaken as either having it or bieng a young boy. Noomi Rapace does NOT look this skinny, or in any way could be mistaken for a boy, she's too feminine.
Strand0410 2 months ago
@pobanmanu That's the whole point of making another one. Rapace made her own interpretation of Lisbeth and it was absolutely fantastic and so was the film. But I have faith David Fincher will make it great too, and Mara's Lisbeth can be perfect too, she looks young and small and that fits the character described in the books.
CensuradaPorBoleta 7 months ago
@pobanmanu Seeing as Rooney Mara is really an unknown actress ... We might be in for a surprise ... Rooney was a potential candidate for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress last year, with The Social Network.
leekepwn 7 months ago
@pobanmanu Her performance was stellar but the adaptation had so many flaws and took so many liberties that the swedish movie ended up being a bad adaptation. I hope David Fincher does better.
JoelMonteiro 6 months ago
@pobanmanu
Why would you want the same? :P
Fincher is renowned for taking amazing books, and making them better (Fight Club, Zodiac, Social Network)
I've deliberately not watched the originals, because I trust Fincher more :P
I'll watch them right after though :P
shiversul 6 months ago 4
@shiversul The originals are the novels and they're far better than the movie adaptations.

@pobanmanu "NO other actress will ever be able to give the same performance as Noomi"
Right, but that doesn't mean it still won't be a better performance.

777Luth 5 months ago 5
@pobanmanu And have to say. . . using the song written for footage of the Fincher version by the person doing the soundtrack for the Fincher version for an homage to this footage strikes me as, frankly, stupid. Was the music from the Rapace version subpar as well? lol
777Luth 5 months ago
@pobanmanu
I guarantee you Rooney tops Noomi in every way possible

is this the full version or looped version?
tubechiq88 8 months ago
@tubechiq88 Looped, rumour has it that full cover won't be released seeing Social Network's trailer song 'Creep' wasn't put on the soundtrack by Trent.
travisfan2 8 months ago
@travisfan2 Actually it wasn't by Trent... the cover song of Creep... I can link ya :)
jackal9188 7 months ago
@travisfan2 But Creep wasn't done by Reznor, so I would say it's possible there might be a full version.
TheKSuto 7 months ago
@TheKSuto Good point, however there's not really a tradition of putting songs of a trailer on the movie's soundtrack.....let's keep our fingers crossed, I'm as optimistic as you are!
