  • ALL vehicles should have speed limiters on them to stop people from speeding all the time. cops do nothing about people speeding and tailgating!! fucking cops anymore!!

  • Do you know if Ontario actually searches truck's fuel tanks for pink diesel?

  • how fast is 105 km?

  • @woodpusher9871 I think its around 65.

  • @woodpusher9871 fast enuff!

  • school busses are only supposed to run something like 55 or 65, ive never seen a bus on the interstate doing less than 70, and when i was younger, busses had an overspeed alarm that beeped at 75, and we made a trip back from a football game, 2.5 hours of straght interstate with the alarm beeping the whole time.

  • i have seen trucks here in east texas running 100 miles an hour (for metric people thats about 160kmph) with loads of 80,000-100,000lbs. i have never seen an artical in the news talking about an overspeed truck killing someone, or an over loaded truck killing anyone. there is a highway that runs right beside the interstate from texarkana to dallas and almost all the speeding trucks and overloaded trucks run down it, with little to no 4 wheel traffic. its normally the 4 wheels fault here

  • trucks should have speed limiters, set 10-15 kmph above the highest legal posted speed on freeways. maybe the way it should be is set at 115 and allow 5 min bursts of 125 at a time before requiring you to return to 115 for a set amount of time

  • I totally agree, I haven't found a truck driver past or present that doesn't agree on this topic. Another bit of info: a split speed difference between vehicles on the highway has always been known to be a contributing factor in the cause of same-direction accidents. Two vehicles traveling the same speed in the same direction will never crash until something changes.

I too think limiters are just plain dangerous, it's even worse that 4-wheelers don't even realize it.

  • Well they should have think of that before speeding to make more money. The drivers are also guilty of this for accepting the unrealistic delivery delay. Now law a ruining it for everyone.

It is always because a minority of assholes that we can't have nice things.

  • I'm sorry to say this, because our nation is metric, but people should still learn what the difference between a Kilometre and a Mile is... A lot of places in Nova Scotia, especially the back roads are in Imperial measurment, even in Dartmouth there's some signs on the off ramp that have 35 on them (which is in miles). Those back roads are the most notorious for car accidents. People go on there doing at least 45 mph (~70) because they don't know how many Kilometres it is.

  • i think if they lock trucks they should lock all the cars too its stupid in the winter i need my speed to runn the icy hills but when you push the pedal nothings there its not a good sign

  • I'm not sure I agree with installing speed limiters, but here is some info that most truck drivers don't seem to realize. The stopping distance of a car at 120KPH is about 316 feet. That of a heavy truck is about 525 feet. For a truck to match the same breaking distance, he would have to be going at about 93KPH... What do you think happens to the trucker if he does not stop in time? What do you think happens to a car driver? I kind of think truckers shouldn't drive much over 100KPH to be safe.

  • @rmyers1968

Why would you put a limiter on a vehicle that statistics show do not have a high risk of speeding? Not even a moderate risk. I don't know about your numbers, but I agree that it takes more for a truck to stop than a car. But cars continue to pass, pull in front of, and cut off trucks, often taking away the safety stopping zone the truck driver tries to keep. What is the difference going to be if a truck hit a car at 93km/h? 100km/h? how about 110km/h? The answer is no difference.

  • @rmyers1968 The problem is that a limiter won't allow a truck to pass anything else. Minimizing that time & distance means allowing it to get up to speed to accomplish this as quick as possible. Restricting this means lineups of trucks that can't pass, or restrictions where they are beside eachother, which is even worse.

My Dad bought my first car for me. His reasoning behind a more powerful engine is that it could be used to get me out of trouble. I didn't drive fast 100% of the time.

  • I definitely agree with what you're saying man. You need to have the options available to you for when the situation calls for it. A lot of motorists don't give trucks the respect they deserve and need to understand the physics of trucks. I've seen countless cars cut off trucks.

  • @rmyers1968 You bring up good points that were probably used when concocting the law but here's the buster, you have to have training and a commerical drivers license to drive truck. These drivers are trained for the difference in vehicle characteristics. Also 4-wheelers are left blind to the limiters and not given further training on how to drive around limited trucks: i.e. if a truck has to swerve to avoid a crash, he can't speed up to avoid the car in the fast lane from rear ending him.

  • When the ontario government start making my truck payments then they can put the limiter on. But until then its not going to happen.

  • @megapeterbilt1 Caught without it is a big fine, your risk but it's easy to pick out the wide open trucks when all the trucks on the highway are running against the limiter.

  • Kudos to you Ontario Trucker. I agree with you.

  • very informative people should really get the word out on this tell your friends

  • i know how ya feel mate our trucks here in new zealand are Limited to 90 km\h it really sucks so i feel for ya

  • its just one more way the goverment and big business are triing to turn Canada and the US into a COMUNIST COUNTRY the want all the control and to put all us small busnesses out well the hell with them i dont need some stupid ass telling me that he will now control my truck they have all ready taken our fredom of speach away and others whats next concentration camps again f@#k them

  • "they cause the most accidents"

I'm sorry to be the one to correct you, but statistics indicate that trucks that are involved in accidents, 88% of them are not at the fault of the truck but rather the other vehicle.

  • Yup!

  • totally agree with ya there bud and it dont feel right to see some four wheel giving ya the finger when ya passing another rig going the same speed , plus we also losing money with least miles under our belts

  • @charby09 No, most of them do, also, you're probably getting confused. Truckers have to get that extra speed 75 - 80 mph before they get to a hill, otherwise once you hit the hill doing 60, you'll drop back to almost 35 mph... Which'd 'cause a lot of accidents.

  • I totally agree with you, unfortunatly with my job i can't say much!

  • We are lucky in Europe that our trucks are generally more technically advanced, and jack knifes are rare, but I agree with you on the need for an extra boost when it's needed, ie blow outs, and other emergencies.

We also hold up traffic on the motorways trying to overtake all at a similar speed.

It's politics mate, but, good luck.

  • BTW: blame the green lobby, of tree hugging, yogurt knitting bloody hippies as well, who have swallowed the 'Global warming' myth hook line and sinker, and use it to keep their make believe jobs at the tax payers expense!.

  • Can you image what it is like running at 90km/h in Europe..... Puts us to sleep easily. Not as bad now as it once was. Limiter used to cut in, slow the truck 2km/h, then speed up, then cut, then speed up, then cut... being in a cabover was like riding a rocking horse.. and soon put you to sleep. At least with limiters you can set a brick on the accelerator and the truck won't speed if you have no cruise control!!!!!

  • Do you think Joe Blackberry would like his $60,000 car speed limited?

  • dude i agree with you 110%

  • This video was taken at the Flying J in Vaudreiul, Quebec.

  • I know, it's So STUPID!!!!

LOL What Flying J you at, the one in London, for Napannee?

  • You are right Mr Mooney.good job sire for this video .

  • What does a know nothing 20 year old know about what truckers think. Where are the statistics for the truck accidents you state.

  • Ask the Premier of Ontario and Quebec where they got thier information! Why is it that the two Provinces with the worst drivers pick on truck drivers?

  • Would you please show us the data regarding truck accidents before and after the implementation of speed limiters? Our staff would like to review it. Thanks!

  • Good job, Scott.

    Norita

    OOIDA

  • Right on Scott, I agree with what you are saying, I am a truck Driver in AB. and refuse to drive into Ontario for this reason, I beleive if a company wants to speed limit there trucks, but i don't believe a owner operator should be force to. The government put this out there under the guise of SAFETY. But it has not been proven to have any effect on safety. I Know its only a matter of time before it across the country if we don't nip this in the butt right away. Wish i could be there. good luck.

  • What should I say..

We are limited at 80km/H in Europe..

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're also paid by the hour in Europe, are you not?

  • NO in europe you have only ONE payment per month!

Its in Germany at the the moment around 1800 euros b4 TAX after 1200 and bader!!!!

    fuel kosts for a car 1 liter / 2CAD!

  • Well done, and you are right it seems the government has downloaded the duties of speed enforcement to trucks, governing them at 105 and very few police on the roads, especially in Northern Ont. Maybe as part of the stimulus plan Ont could hire more police and get their asses out on the roads. I for one do not want to be on the 400 on the Fri. of May 24 weekend, governed at 105 and using the centre lane because of the low bridges, what a disaster that is going to be.

  • Well done, I agree, this law seems to place the duties of the police with speed enforcement onto the truckers. I see very few police on the highways anymore especially in Northern Ontario. Maybe a part of the stimulus plan Ont. could hire more police officers and get thier asses out on the roads.

  • 10-4 good buddy! My dads chip truck before he bought it not only was the speed limiter set at 72 mph, it was governed @ 1800 rpms which was a load of crap. Dad took it to the doctor at a cat dealership and reset it to factory settings. The things fixed included +100 ft-lbs of torque which is now 1750 on a 3406E, 2100 rpms governed, and speed limiter removed.

  • I agree, vehicles traveling at the same speed are much safer. Your right about the fleets pushing for the law. They want to save money on fuel, but not have to compete with other companies on rates. It's a BIG business thing. Big business is ruining the US, don't let them ruin your country too! Good luck Canada! See ya

  • You should get some MPP's out on a ride along...the first time you come up on Grandpa doing 95kmph in a 110 zone and try to get around him to keep the traffic flowing the sooner they will realize what you have to deal with

  • The other factor is,How many times have you had a car running75 to85 miles an hour come up behind you, running 55 to 65 and all most been rear ended,i have had this happen numerous times.

  • That's true. Especially those Chinese drivers. They sometimes go 50 mph in the left lane. You flash, honk, go around them, and they're totally clueless of what they're doing.

  • I gotta agree with you on every word. 5 stars, favorted and featured

  • keep up the good work scott doin a hell of a job

  • I agree with OntarioTrucker and Newfieguy89. They are taking away the

control away from the driver. The driver needs to be able to accelerate when a steer tire blows suddenly, or in a jackknife situation. If you are "maxed out" at 63mph or whatever speed that your company dictates, you have nothing left for acceleration. I agree that it is totally UNSAFE!

  • I'll tell ya this Scott the Only speed limiter on my truck is Me and I refuse to put one on.

  • keep up the fight man

  • I so agree with you on this 100% ....Thanks for sending me this link to my Facebook. I will be shareing this with all my contacts here on YouTube. 5 stars!!
