That's how us girls naturally do climbups. At least, that's what comes most easily to me. Flexibility and different center of gravity in place of upper body strength...
Great vid Teghead. I wish i could climb like you. I seem to get stuck. when i jump to the wall and do a cat, i am not able to pull myself up. Is this because my upper body strength is quite low or is it all in the technique?
Yeah, you need strength. Technique will turn a poor climb-up into an easier, faster climb-up. But you need strength to make not being able to pull yourself up turn into being able to pull yourself up.
You can always count on strength, if you're new to Parkour, start thinking about/reading into strength training, get some weightlifting sessions on the go or something.
work on the right muscle groups, pull ups and dips till you can pull or push no longer. take one or two days to rest in between workouts. But be consistent, 3 to 4 time a week and push your self. You will see results very quickly, also make sure you have enough protein in your diet. cheese, eggs, meat, chicken etc. no powders suplements or weights are needed. just hard work. :)
These climbs are great. I can do them, too... It took me a few months to be able to do them... They require a lot of strength, but they feel awesome when you do them :d. And they're very useful and fast.
Carcinogenic chemicals contained in the tar may perhaps increase the risk of my skin cells on my feet mutating and becoming cancerous.
...But I don't think most paving is highly carcinogenic. Best to stay away from bitumen roads and stuff though, not that I want to scare you or anything, I don't think the risk is particularly high.
Flexibility may be an issue, although my flexibility is quite average.
You may need to alter your technique or builkd the strength to tilt your hips, pull your core tight to one side, and be able to hold your torso away from the edge of the wall; and get your torso and hips high enough with your initial pull.
Ill spend my tomorrow trying it. My climbs have gone down recently somehow on normal walls. But they're much better on walls where there is another wall in my face. Practice!
hey man do you have tips on these? I can do them and all but not good, like ill slip alot when I transition or before i transition my hands and i dont seem to do them smooth at all.
Wen't out today and practicing, the wall I tried them on I fell off of but I went to some other ordinary brick walls and I did them fine on their and I have a sprained arm but i tried about 10 and did them and practised a bit so ill carry on
It just happens sometimes, I much prefer not curling my fingers under, as it allows you to push better and control your balance as you flick your legs up.
Some people get into the habit of curling their fingers all the time. Personal thing.
I really found that leg up technique interesting, I've thought of throwing my leg while actually climbing, and its good to see you train barefoot. Keep up the good work.
In the summer i'm gonna do much more barefoot training. It's quite harsh with no shoes in the winter. Then again in the summer the ground can get pretty boiling.
probably useful when climbing up on a ledge jutting out from a wall. I remember seeing Guy's Sunny Day video where they were trying out some such ledges and they were practically doing the same movement. I think it would definitely be great to train
Yeah your right, but i dont think it'll come that far. Your regular climb up is quick and efficient, the one we're talking about would take alot of strength and wouldnt even be alot quicker. It's fun to imagine it though.
very nice climb ups man!! although your old style climb ups are faster, but maby those one foot first climb ups could become even faster and efective with some practise as you said. But anyway keep up the good work!!
Hahah, it'll take very very powerful lats, to get your feet up inside you'd need to make space between your body and the wall, so not using your biceps much.
I'm sure it's possible eventually to be able to pull to having both feet on top of the wall. But it will take a lot of practising the technique I think because you can't pull back on anything, you'd have to figure out how to get your weight out and on top like that, and would only be possible on really nice grippy walls.
I just watched Reigate Training and yeah your climb ups there are pretty sick. I dont know if you are familiar with Assasins Creed but if you look at his climb up he does the same movement but he puts his foot in between his hands. Maybe something to think about?
Oi! Nice work as usual with the barefoot and clean movement. I agree that it would definitely help with efficiency and fluidity being able to change height(both higher/lower) with ease. Great vid. :)
every time i go out training during the weekend i try out some of your ideas, but then the next week you've only gone and raised the level again! haha keep it up
however although it was wet or you were not on form that day, youre climb ups look so easy and clean and i love the editing aswell.. thats why it still looks perfect to me :D

Always played with similar ideas with climbups where you have a nice overgrip, never really on normal climb ups though. Until now of course. I believe that with enough power and technique movements like these will surpass existing techniques. Good work man.
Actually, the only stubbed toe I've had this year, has been one, while wearing shoes, trying to precision to these little tiered ledges, and that wasn't even a bad stub.
Bare feet fine tune your focus so much. Unless you're careless. :)
