You have to thank God for Special Olympics. I am also part of Speicial Olympics. Some people that disabled people are stupid but I think of them as normal people. The people that say mean things to the disable needs to grow up. It hurts the disable and it hurts God
Amazing video. Inspiring. Just spent a week with Special Olympics, Summer Games in Stillwater, Oklahoma. THEY are the blessed ones, the athletes. If you spend one day at an event, and don't come away awe inspired, you have no heart.
my cousin has downs and this commercial brought me to tears when i saw it its a great commercial and i pray every special kid they amaze me they are always happy :) amazing commercial
although the special olympics may seem exclusive and be surrounded by stigma, it is empowering. and just as this guy says... people yelling and shouting your name and encouraging them, staring and paying close attention to their every move in HOPEs that whichever athlete they're cheering for wins...
it's just that
fantastic!
the special olympics does great things even in the community with sports for people to participate in. my sister does rhythmic gymnastics with special olympics and loves it
I was just watching a Special Olympics basketball game. No one cared if they didn't have perfect bodies, everyone had their own unique form, if someone got their feelings hurt, their teammates hugged them, teenagers played with senior citizens, everyone in the audience clapped whenever a basket was made regardless of which team was ahead and I wondered what the world would be like if life looked more like Special Olympics. I guess I'll have to wait until heaven to find out!
I love this ad!!! There is a reason why the abortion rate for Down Syndrome is so high. The devil is trying to get rid of the best example of unconditional love possible. I just got through watching Special Olympics Basketball. I wish we all were mature enough to play like that, rather than be so consumed with selfishness. Us typicals have lots to learn from those who have been blessed with Down Syndrome.
watching this video made me want to volunteer at the special olympics. I have 2 children with down syndrome and everyday i feel sorry for the poor slobs. The EAs cost so much it's disgusting
watching this commercial inspired me to volunteer at the special Olympics. my job was to help out brett. his efforts and sweet personality made me cry at the very end. to see a disabled person work so hard and be so proud just made me wonder "am I working as much as brett? am I living my life at fullest? am I working hard enough to reach my dreams?". a year later has past since I helped out brett and I just received a mail from them 2 days ago and im going to their house next week! :) 5/5
This is THE BEST representation I have every seen for those who share the most love with others yet take the most abuse from people that are afraid to accept their genuine feelings......I have been inspired by this video and I thank the person who posted it. I listen to my employees complain about their life in these bad times and then have them watch this posting.......Thanks for sharing.......
if you have down syndrome, you can and can not end up mentally retarded, same with cp, md, etc... IF you end up mentally retarded, you will never be able to do a lot of normal things... And if you are mentally retarded, your parents will most likely end up taking care of you for the rest of your life. there is a kid at our school with DS, who knows maybe 3 words in all languages. he was born without a bladder. he is only one of many. an 18 year old girl with CP recently died at my school.
My uncle has downs and the docters said he wouldnt make it past 5, now hes 48 and when he was a kid he used to run in the Spec. Olyimpics. good commercial
Brought a tear to my eye,for the simple fact the way he talks you think of the Stereo typical way that they are treated instead hes talking about acomplishing something great :)
Good for you for Puting this video great video 5 stars :)

I was one of the unified partners(non-disabled) for a reley team. i will compete this year with nibble8910(my friend). IT IS AMAZING WATCHING THEM RUN AND I FEEL SSSSSOOOOOOOO GOOD ABOUT IT TOO!
I am helping out with the Special Olympics this coming week in Sun Valley. I am so excited to have the opportunity to meet and interact with these athletes. Wonderful video.
THAT IS a fantastic commercial. I love it a lot and wish I could see it on tv and see what others think of it. Being one who has been involved with people who is intellectially disabled for 10 years and just started being an event director for Special Olympics it makes me smile to know that there is people who do not make fun of them or use them as a base of jokes. They are our brothers and sisters as well and should be treated like others not to be pointed at and laughed cause that is immoral
people with downs syndrome should be treated exactly the same as other people and can do exactly the same things and the other man that sings to make fun of them should really be HATED its jst harsh :(
Yeah baby!!!! I love this!!! My son just took part in the Ga winter games and it was phenominal!!!! I wish more peple could see these great athletes. Win or not, they have heart..Gotta love them,
I cant belive people make fun of special people thier like everyone else just diffrent and we should encourage them to live their dreams not mock them cause their deaf or blind or have downs their like everyone on earth they try their best sure they make mistakes but who doesnt
Im not only involved in Special O as an athlete, I also volunteer for fundraising, and I help coach as well too. Whoever said that people with special needs have no potential can bite my ass, because we DO have potential. I am a fully certified Dietary Aide as well to, and I work my ass off for 8 friggin hours a day, 5 days a week w/out a lotta complaining and I look after my nieces and nephews a lot, I compete in lots of competitions, so if u dont think we have potential, THINK AGAIN.
that made me want to get involved in the organization of the special olympics myself. i cried at the beginning, thinking i would again be forced to dwell on the harsh reality that we live in a world that constantly judges based on physical appearances. but hearing him say "it's fantastic," then realizing he meant his previous descriptions in a positive way, made me tear up for another reason entirely. anyone, with or without a physical disability, can accomplish their dreams to some degree.
People who joke about people with handicaps or call them "retarded", etc, don't realize how fortunate they are to have all their limbs, or how fortunate they are to live without mental disabilities. Imagine what some of the athletes at the Special Olympics or ParaOlympics could do if they had a fully functioning body. Probably a lot more than most of us could...
People with disabilities are among the nicest, and hardest working people you'll ever meet. Great to see they have such opportunities.
my sister has Down Syndrome..... I think you're pathetic for in the face of the beast of poverty and despair you make it a game to enjoy the little things of the little people....
I completely admire anyone with an affliction, be it Downs Syndrome, mental retardation, etc. It's hard enough just being a human being... but they manage to reach accomplishments most of us will never know.
why the hell is everyone downing the comments that say this video is good it makes the person feel happy so why the hell should you rate them down when THEY DIDN'T do a fucking thing to make you angry
no need to ridicule him for speaking his mind. It's a video about a man that's handicap and he's only expressing his feelings of emotion. Don't criticize someone because of what they thought of. Some people don't take time to think about what they write but just say what comes from the heart. Be gentle and loving, and kind. Not obnoxious and rude. Geez...
My son is in the Special Olympics. We just came from his regional bowling competition here in NM. I showed him your video. He loves it!!!! He sent links to all of his friends. Great! Great video. I loved it too!!!!!!!
They truly are the real innocence in the world, treat them like you would treat anyone else: with kindness, respect and courtesy. Protect those that cannot protect themselves and fight against the bullies and coward gangsters and predators. Do not be afraid of anyone that would seek to do you or others any harm.
i was there in Glasgow for the Specail Olympic games i one a set of medles Bronze Silver and Gold these are the most amazing athleats i have ever met. i am now working in NYC all way follow your dreams
I saw this, and I hosetly got chills. I know a good friend of mine, and he has downs syndrome, and people used to make fun, point, stare, and so on, but I kinda beat up ALL the people that did this, and now everyone saw that he is really a grat person, and fun to be with.
I now spend most of my time hanging out with this kid, and we go on double dates every weekend. I love him like a brother, and I probably always will.
Love ya man.
PS:PEOPLE THAT MAKE FUN OF THIS GUY, I'LL KICK YOUR ASS TOO.
My Brother has Downs Syndrome and its never stopped him from getting on with his life. The guy made it through school and college and is a Aeronautical Engineer with Lokheed Martin, Me? ha I was born with all the parts working and Im not nearly as sucsessfull. My brother worked hard for everything he has done and without any sympathy or handouts. He was made fun of like being called retard and all that stuff but it was just more fuel for the fire.
Wow!! What an amazing success story. Congrats to your amazing brother. I have a Down Syndrome sister and I've gotta admit I envy some of her talents, especially her dance moves! She's definitely the sun in my life.
only a civilized society can support specimens of such detrimental genetic abberrance (Downs), but I ask, with populations surging and resources in such demand, SHOULD it? In first-world nations, medical technology is such that there never has to be an incidence of Downs, ever. An early Downs pregnancy can be ID'd, terminated, and replaced by a life with potential. You may cry "morality!", but what of the morality of pragmatism? What of the greater good? I ask this without mockery, only logic.
i agree with you, they have as much right to be on the earth as l2gethergurl872 we areall people. we all deserve respect. and so what if we are all different, thats what makes the world interesting.
I agree this fool is narrow minded, people with Down syndrome probably have more potential than you! I have three friends with Downs, who are the most loving, loyal, and caring men I've ever met. Two of them are involved in international sports, the other is involved with his church. No potential my ass! They do more than their lives than people like you who just sit on their computers making close minded comments on subjects they know nothing about!
Logic? I don't see a damn trace of logic in your comments only ignorance. You obviously don't know shit about downsyndrome or about the people who have it. In fact, I can with great confidence say there are a LOT of people with downs that are way smarter and way more successful than you'll ever hope to be. Ah well, ignorance is bliss.
say, gethergurl, your bigotry shows a complete lack of understanding regarding down syndrome. people with ds have more "worth" than others. if you had any real-world experience with ds you would know this. they are people with better character than you or i: no aggression, plus unconditional love. it is the difficulty in communicating that causes so much trouble. you would be better served by learning about a subject before conjecturing in complete ignorance. what potential do you have? show us.
Shut the fuck up l2gethergurl872, I agree with lesslikeyou did you fucking copy and paste some words from the dictionary because obviously you don't fucking know what any of those words mean, you're probably 30 and living in your mother's basement. You try having a mental illness you fucking asshole.
I'm sorry, but I think it's people like you who are so self-absorbed with perfection in everything but their own life, are the ones who need to be "terminated".
I don't care if they have downs, are paralyzed, or whatever. In first-world nations, medical technology and society in general is such that downs is an accepted condition.
You should be PROUD that society has come as far as it has to accepting those with detrimental differences rather than trying to obliterate those not of good mold.
How Horrible of you to say. No potential? God creates every child for a reason. People with Down's are amazing! My Brother was born with Down's syndrome and is the most incredible person I know! I'll be praying that someday you realize that you're wrong and see the incredible potential people with Down's Have.
dude the funny thing is, by you saying that..id rather have them on this earth then you, because they actually try to overcome their differences, while you just sit here and say they shouldn't be here..go fuck yourself dude, damn you're a real piece of shit.
wow, l2gethergurl872, u make downs sound like its just some sort of disease, and people who have it are not human. fact is someone with downs has just as much, if not more, potential than anyone else. theyre not "different" from us, they are human beings like everyone else and should be treated as such. i have a friend with downs, and i talk to him like anyone else and hes a great guy. forget medical lingo, talk about them like theyre people cuz they ARE.
l2gethergurl872, you truly have no idea what it is to love unconditionally while the entire world disregards you and everything you have worked for and continue to work for. I thank God everyday that my parents did not put my sister in an institution and let her die, as the doctors told them to do. I thank everyday that they did let her have her 3 heart surgeries, even though she wasn't going to make it to her 1st bday. I thank God so that I can tell people like you what life is truly about.
Almost cried at first, thought it was horrible. Then i got rly happy *happytears* when he said "It's fantastic". A rly powerful and great commercial <3

They truly are the real innocence in the world, treat them like you would treat anyone else: with kindness, respect and courtesy. Protect those that cannot protect themselves and fight against the bullies and coward gangsters and predators. Do not be afraid of anyone that would seek to do you or others any harm.

He was made fun of like being called retard and all that stuff but it was just more fuel for the fire.

only a civilized society can support specimens of such detrimental genetic abberrance (Downs), but I ask, with populations surging and resources in such demand, SHOULD it? In first-world nations, medical technology is such that there never has to be an incidence of Downs, ever. An early Downs pregnancy can be ID'd, terminated, and replaced by a life with potential. You may cry "morality!", but what of the morality of pragmatism? What of the greater good? I ask this without mockery, only logic.
l2gethergurl872 3 years ago
Do you even know what those words mean or did you copy and paste them from somewhere the dictionary, hoping they'd make sense when put together?
What makes you think people with Down syndrome have no potential? That is so narrow-minded. I pity you, I really do.
lesslikeyou 3 years ago
i agree with you, they have as much right to be on the earth as l2gethergurl872 we areall people. we all deserve respect. and so what if we are all different, thats what makes the world interesting.
cassiecreep 3 years ago 2
I agree this fool is narrow minded, people with Down syndrome probably have more potential than you! I have three friends with Downs, who are the most loving, loyal, and caring men I've ever met. Two of them are involved in international sports, the other is involved with his church. No potential my ass! They do more than their lives than people like you who just sit on their computers making close minded comments on subjects they know nothing about!

Guadagnolo is not talking down about his/her brother. That comment is talking about how proud he/she is of they're brother for being successful.

because a child has downs it shouldn't live, is that what your implying?
only a wimp of a parent would have a child, their child terminated

babaloolovesbiggaloo 3 years ago
NOTxTHATxGUITAR 3 years ago
say, gethergurl, your bigotry shows a complete lack of understanding regarding down syndrome. people with ds have more "worth" than others. if you had any real-world experience with ds you would know this. they are people with better character than you or i: no aggression, plus unconditional love. it is the difficulty in communicating that causes so much trouble. you would be better served by learning about a subject before conjecturing in complete ignorance. what potential do you have? show us.
chocolatelabfilms 3 years ago
so you pity the disabled people. If a person is born perfect like you think, they should be terminated or killed? you self minded fool.
archymage1 3 years ago
i understand where you are coming from, but in reply to you, i say that even if a child has downs syndrome, there is no reason to terimnate him/her.
does that mean that just because someone has a dissibility, it is OK to murder them?
i love the video by the way :)
afromansweetfro 3 years ago
Shut the fuck up l2gethergurl872, I agree with lesslikeyou did you fucking copy and paste some words from the dictionary because obviously you don't fucking know what any of those words mean, you're probably 30 and living in your mother's basement. You try having a mental illness you fucking asshole.
SickShotSniper 3 years ago
I'm sorry, but I think it's people like you who are so self-absorbed with perfection in everything but their own life, are the ones who need to be "terminated".
I don't care if they have downs, are paralyzed, or whatever. In first-world nations, medical technology and society in general is such that downs is an accepted condition.
You should be PROUD that society has come as far as it has to accepting those with detrimental differences rather than trying to obliterate those not of good mold.
vtwinbreed 2 years ago
How Horrible of you to say. No potential? God creates every child for a reason. People with Down's are amazing! My Brother was born with Down's syndrome and is the most incredible person I know! I'll be praying that someday you realize that you're wrong and see the incredible potential people with Down's Have.
jarikatrelea 2 years ago
dude the funny thing is, by you saying that..id rather have them on this earth then you, because they actually try to overcome their differences, while you just sit here and say they shouldn't be here..go fuck yourself dude, damn you're a real piece of shit.

wow, l2gethergurl872, u make downs sound like its just some sort of disease, and people who have it are not human. fact is someone with downs has just as much, if not more, potential than anyone else. theyre not "different" from us, they are human beings like everyone else and should be treated as such. i have a friend with downs, and i talk to him like anyone else and hes a great guy. forget medical lingo, talk about them like theyre people cuz they ARE.
deutschland07 2 years ago
l2gethergurl872, you truly have no idea what it is to love unconditionally while the entire world disregards you and everything you have worked for and continue to work for. I thank God everyday that my parents did not put my sister in an institution and let her die, as the doctors told them to do. I thank everyday that they did let her have her 3 heart surgeries, even though she wasn't going to make it to her 1st bday. I thank God so that I can tell people like you what life is truly about.
