  • Speed?

  • lol its one that people you people are idiots for owning a POS like that

  • @1985vettefan

Honda never made very safe cars. Just bare minimum to pass safety tests. The only Japanese car maker that cares about safety is Subaru. Known as Japanese Volvo.

  • This is a bit taken out of context because pretty much every single manufacturer failed this offset crash at first.. Ford, chevy, toyota, dodge.. Even Mercedes showed results like this..

  • Wow...this is ine of the worst crash tests i've seen...

  • it makes you think... all those 'bubbles getting carbon fiber upgrades to 'lighten them' further... really all youre doing is taking away whatever 'crumple' areas there were... and even judging by this vid, there isn't much...

  • Dont crash??

  • i have one of these and i dont mind just make sure u dump it on the other side lol

  • Anyone here is in Portugal and have the edition number 18 (November 1993) of the ''AutoMagazine''? Turn to pages 20-21 :-)

  • I was in this car during my first accident. No airbag for the passenger probably saved me from injury since I was very young.

  • Comment removed

  • I used to drive a Honda Civic. Then I took an arrow in the knee

  • i still love eg :)

  • Lol ide still take an EG lol

  • Early 90's

  • what year?

  • A friend had a souped up one of these and the body would flop and twist around when he power shifted, I see why now. He grew up and now he has a Z06.

  • i like the faggots who try to race them

  • @spk9grsch So, it's a good Darwin car, isn't it?

  • this is the hatch model????

  • Ill stick with my fortified BOX. 1984 GMC Sierra C10 Pickup, no airbags, traction control, or abs. Just a giant steel box. Not much safer than that. Nothing on that truck is plastic except for the door panels xD

  • japan shit

  • @marcin949 Yeah, why don't you take a look at the links to the right, namely the Astro, the Blazer and the links below.

    watch?v=lB0araA0T_k

    watch?v=HDQrPnAhSmI

  • That hurt,,,

  • no airbags, abs, traction control, power steering, or seatbelts is how i roll

  • @SuperCracksmoke Add 4000 lb Plymouth to that and thats me everyday!

  • @notanova Which Plymouth? :D

  • @malthe12321 1980 Volare sedan with a bad power steering pump! Oh and I guess I do have seatbelts lmao!

  • Why would you want to save Honda drivers? lol

  • @DoctorBohr

I like Honda's but you'r comment is really funny ;DDD

  • I remember seeing this video back in the day (this is an early '90's Civic). It was one of the main reasons I ended up buying a VW Golf. (I was the rare 17 year old who was concerned about safety.)

I'm glad to see that Hondas have improved dramatically since then.

  • @MaestroTJS watch?v=9Fsptl3_Oes&feature=player_detailpage#t=161s

  • @Euphorica Yes, the VW wasn't particularly safe in its own right, and it's worse than the 97 Civic, but that's not the same generation as the one in the video here. You may know that, though.

(I was buying in 1994, for the record.)

  • @MaestroTJS quite true. Each generation has mad some decent gains in safety...but really the automotive world didnt get really serious about it until about 2005-2006.

  • @Euphorica Yeah, not many failures anymore, which is great news for everyone.

But there is still work to be done in other areas. Many cars still have bad head restraints, though this has also been improving lately. Bumpers are mostly garbage. And maybe since so many cars are passing with flying colours now, the various testing agencies should be upping the speed to push manufacturers to the next level. That's what got us to this point, after all.

  • I like how the windshield flexes but doesn't brake

  • :O

  • just a scratch

  • by the way looks safer then a Citroen Saxo....and have much better engine

  • And it was only going 3MPH...

  • My mum had a Gen 1 civic which had a head on with a Series III Land Rover. Landie lost its wheel, as it was torn off by the hub, the civic was absolutely demolished but no intrusions. Win for landie, but even so the civic was tough

  • any car will cumple at that speeds especially in a head on collision. and that car is going much faster than 40mph. i had the same car and got into a wreck becuause my tires were bald in the rain the guy slammed on his brakes i hydroplaned. i hit a jeep. i was completley fine. not a scratch.the guy in the jeep said his neck hurted. they might not be the best but they are not that bad.

  • That flimsy "steel" pseudo-structure is there to make VTEC look as powerful as it is LOUD and noisy.

  • trabant is more safe :)))

  • if u kno how to drive, u wont crash (:

  • @kflipthatset54 unfortunetly not true..u can be the best driver in the world and although it helps big time..

in a congested busy city with way too many bad distracted drivers it can make no difference. u can have some idiot run into u at any time..i drive for a living and see it all to often here in phoenix.

  • for the 1980's or the 1990's that was actually pretty standard....its a death trap by today's standards

  • @shinusha It was never a standard feature to die in a car with 40mph. Only in this class.

  • WORICP!

  • OH FUCK!

  • i drive a civic eg6 .... uff im not dead.... tanks jesus

  • wow, this is one of the worst crash tests i've seen....

  • ive seen worse, like some chinese cars...

  • Everything explodes outwards away from the driver so how is it a death trap? all that bending probably suspends the force of the hit

  • At least you don't have to worry about your head rebound on the roof. :)

  • a friend of mine swears that anything made after 89 are death traps. The materials for the body are fragile.

  • @PsalmsNmyrrh Your friend in clearly an idiot.

  • @Blairw85 LOL some may agree with you.

  • @PsalmsNmyrrh They're designed to be fragile, the more energy the materials absorb by deforming and crumpling, the less energy is absorbed by your body that has to slow from highway speeds to a dead stop in a less than a second.

  • @dalejr82010 I agree, I tried to explain the science of what you just said but he is not buying it. LOL

  • @dalejr82010, sure, but having it crumble like above and you'll break your legs, arms, nose and the fire department have to cut the car open to get you out, bequese your legs are stuck under the dashboard. The door probably won't open (unless it fell of), so if your car is on fire, you can't get out. Ill rather have a broken shoulder from the seatbelt than being trapped like that.

  • @KennYA51 Actually not, they're only designed to crumple up to the firewall, meaning that they're designed to protect the passenger cabin. Look at any well designed car, the front end can be totally destroyed and be absolutely nothing wrong on the inside. Fire departments have been cutting people out of cars before new safety features were incorporated and cars these days are far less likely to result in entrapment.

  • @dalejr82010, i meant the shitty civic not a modern car

  • @KennYA51 wow you have quite an imagination. I saw a civic like my 98 one that got clipped byt a truck and rolled over three times. The driver of the civic lived the driver of the truck died, because they didnt wear a seatbelt.

  • toyota yaris was worse.

  • Oh give me a break, that wasn't that bad. You should see some of the crash tests of these brand new Chinese cars, that was pretty good for crash standards 18 years ago!

  • @MrHondaguy1 , it was not. This is a part of a series of tests that was done to a whole bunch of similar sized cars of the time to compare the safety. Civic was compared to VW Golf, Opel Astra, Ford Escort, Fiat Tipo, Citroen ZX, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 323, Mitsubishi Colt and Nissan Sunny - and the Civic was the clearly worst performer of them all.

  • wayne, i drive my eh2 anyway!

  • Why even bother to put a airbag

  • Well, even if you lose your legs and stomach, at least you still have a presentable head in your coffin.

  • its costing me 3500 euro for a boxy shape 1.ol toyota starlet to insure in ireland because of people like you...who cant keep a car on the road..:)

  • volvo for life!

  • 50 km/h ?, 60km/h?

  • @FRANCZESKO001 56 km/h (35mph)

  • I'd STILL rather drive these and be able to STEER CLEAR. I'd still have a fighting chance, because if it was a new Civic, it'll understeer because of the weight!

  • Yea haha I'd say Honda has learned a thing or two since then

  • well sorry its not my fault stock transmissions tend to explode while going 75mph

and cause you to spin out and hit hit the guard rail. and for your next question. "didnt i learn my lesson about the tranny issue the 1st time. answer yes i did the second tranny built to sustain the turbo and the tranny oil leaked and cause the tranny to burn the second time , the third time i really didnt bother and i wasnt racing but the clutch was stock with 250k and the it shattered and i had a fender bender.

  • @TopNotchMachinima Don't turbo a shitbox, plain and simple. You turn that thing into a high-strung grenade-waiting-to-explode and are surprised when it fails?

  • @TopNotchMachinima your full of shit . ive owend 5 civic egs and never had my trannie explode (maybe try keeping your car road worthy

  • @Mw2Fusionz a trannie of mine did explode when i told him his breast augmentation was botched

  • Drive a geo metro in the same situation, Bet its worse

  • these cars r great so stfu and live with it

some of u american wanna b's with v8 think oh that honda is shit

well logically slower because 4 cylinder vs 8 cylinder

so who cars a car is for point a to point b

  • I got hit head on in a 1990 Si Hatch by a ford F150 going 80km/h and walked away with only a broken wrist and a few cuts. And the car was nearly 20 years old with 350,000kms on it.

  • bs i have a 95 civic and i just t boned a 95 econoline van he ran a stop sign .all i needed was a bumper bumper support headlights core support hood fender lights. sounds like alot but i drove it home . 25 mph and no air bags wtf.

  • @theonethatgoofs I hope you do know this. The speed has a great deal in how bad the wreck is, your Civic sit's lower than the van so it did not hit directly, this is an solid object and not a movable van and last but not least, this is a offset crash test.

  • These tests are conducted with deformable barriers, this barrier clearly isn't. Not saying the Civic is particularly safe, but it definitely should be noted that it can't be compared to other offset crash tests.

  • the only people that actualy drive this type of the car anymore are people looking for speed and if they have enough money they would usualy buy a role cage so thats not a problem :)

  • @transilvanianson

yeah, because a roll cage is going to help in a head on collision....

  • @trucker11686 yah, it will, aparantly u dont konw much about role cages, it will keep your car from caving in like that

  • @transilvanianson ROLL CAGE think about it ......

  • @2000jeepsahara have u ever seen a ROLL CAGE? it goes around the whole interior, including the upper part that caved in like that

  • @transilvanianson yea, i agree. an 8 point roll cage goes from the firewall, above the windshield, down behind the front seat, and has similar structure behind the front seat. a 6+ point roll cage would have helped this crash.

  • @transilvanianson hahaha...buy a civic for speed lol...i love civics...EF2 FTW but....if you want a fast car....put some money down and get.....a fast car but dont get me wrong....i love civics

  • @skaterXboy1995 yah dude, seriously if u know how to tune a car right, tune, to upgrade where u need to, then that car can get up to 1000hp, dont get me wrong, the stock engins are pretty lame, but not to lame, the weight and the mpg u get with those are godlike

  • @transilvanianson hahahaha you cant get 1000 hp just by tuning, let me share my knowledge, lets say you have a b18b,no a k20,you want 100 hp,get ready to dump over 8000 dollars into it.the stock block and parts cant handle/produce that much power, you have to get ALL forged internals=lots of money, boar out the cylinder walls to fit much bugger pistons..maby a turbo or two...the size of your head ALL lighted aluminum parts...pistons block etc...and buy a 200-1500 dollar program to tune

  • @transilvanianson are you in some nfs underground games LOL

  • looks FUN!!! :D i bet Vtec kicked in :D

  • Apply directly to the forehead

  • 0:11 ... its like the punch of klitschko

  • f*cking hater // fanboy ...nothing else ..

  • i walked away in my civic crash

  • how fast was the car going?

  • so how fast was the car going?

  • I CRASHED 3 OF THESE HEAD ON IM STILL ALIVE

  • @TopNotchMachinima LEARN TO DRIVE

  • @TopNotchMachinima you have to be a good driver then

  • @TopNotchMachinima Exactly, why does everybody have to hate the civic. Its a Great car.

  • @TopNotchMachinima I am still alive too, mainly because I have not crashed....... because i am a good driver!

  • @MarkMck1994 well i street race alot so yea but i get away with it

  • @TopNotchMachinima Lol street race. Get a Job, so you can buy a decent car for one, and get off the roads for two. One time you will fuck it up and kill your self.

I am 22.... Drive a BMW 645I Cabrio, and a HST Train Driver. Cause I Didnt fuck about, what you are doing.

  • @TopNotchMachinima You're alive but you've obviously sustained brain damage (or you were born retarded) since you've crashed THREE of them.

  • @TopNotchMachinima

    You crashed 3 of them?????

Maybe you should hand in your license

  • @TopNotchMachinima you should stop driving...

  • @TopNotchMachinima Pretty good when standing still, you drive shit and you know it.

  • @TopNotchMachinima shopping trolleys dont count

  • @TopNotchMachinima ...good driver!!!

  • @TopNotchMachinima Sure you did.

  • @ToyotaAvalon2011 i'm sure that was written with one of those brain hookups for people who are quadriplegic

  • @TopNotchMachinima you cant dirve.....lol

  • @TopNotchMachinima you shouldnt have a licence then

  • @TopNotchMachinima your the reason i'm paying £1400 a year despite my 3years no claims then ..?

  • @TopNotchMachinima that just means ur a bad driver or a muntant ninjaturtle

  • @TopNotchMachinima You know what happens in the movie, death comes back for you...XD

  • @TopNotchMachinima Stop driving.

  • @TopNotchMachinima God must rly like you =p

  • @TopNotchMachinima So you drive like shit and you have realy lucky, but dumb people has a lot of luck.

  • @19tuureluur86 yeah they really fucking do... Like drunk drivers. Lucky assholes.

  • @TopNotchMachinima doubt it was as fast

  • @TopNotchMachinima your obviously a fuckin idiot and need to drive safer (Y)

  • @TopNotchMachinima Don't doubt it! It's a concrete wall in the video. Of course the car is gonna crumple up like that. There's no energy absorption from the wall.

  • @TopNotchMachinima That's unfortunate.

  • So i will die if i don't sell my civic V-TEC

  • I just got a civic......I might take it back

  • Here's an idea, avoid head on collisions and sudden stop crashes! No problem.

  • @ludesrv1 Here's another idea, you drive home and someone hit you on your front with 60mph...great idea man

  • @ExTr3Me89 i would love somebody to do it to me

  • @ExTr3Me89 In a crash like that, not even a brand new Renault will save you. ;]

  • @ExTr3Me89 here's another idea swerve

  • @ExTr3Me89 well.....then you must be in the wrong lane hahahaha...and here is a better idea....PAY THE FUCK ATTENTION WHEN YOU DRIVING....if someone is heading stright for you.....you make the choice....plan A.keep going.....dont avoid it....die Plan B. DITCH THE CAR.....other lane (if no traffic),or side of road< or if on freeway....just grind the side of your car into the K-rail....who cars if the cars fucked up....just stay alive

  • @skaterXboy1995 Hey buddy you're probably not even old enough to drive a car yet so don't be sharing your god-like knowledge of cars with everyone here.

  • @tubegangsta hey buddy...i am old enough to drive...never said i was god-like...and i was just sharing some info to a dude who thinks he can get 1000 hp out of a motor JUST by tuning it...so chill out

  • @skaterXboy1995 I still doubt that you're old enough to drive.

  • @tubegangsta well you can doubt all you want...thats what free will is about

  • @skaterXboy1995 I also doubt you're Catholic.

  • @tubegangsta what the fuck does being catholic have to do with cars...and btw i am catholic...i doubt your a gangster made out of tubes...

  • @skaterXboy1995 I said I doubt you're Catholic as a joke because you're bringing "free will" into a car video, which is something I learned back in religion class as a kid. Honestly, the way you talk is a sign of pure immaturity, you prob. don't even have a full car license yet, and you're here lecturing people about cars with 1000 HORSEPOWA.

  • @tubegangsta im not lecturing people about a car with 100 hp...i was telling a guy that he cant get 1000 hp out of a motor ONLY by tuning...if you read my comment you would know that...but you read the first 5 words and think that im trying to lecture people....i haven't even begun to scratch the surface of automotive engineering...i know a lot...but their is still tons more to learn

  • @ExTr3Me89 That's why you drive a Volvo so you can walk away from head-ons.

  • @ExTr3Me89 Here's another Idea. God knows if it's your time. =))

  • @ludesrv1 its hard to avoid accidents. THAT"S WHY THEY CALL THEM ACCIDENTS!!!!!!!!

  • @ludesrv1 dumbass

  • @ludesrv1 They're called accidents for a reason, dingus.

  • i would still drive it :)

  • @mcneil123 lol he is dead jim

  • He's dead Jim.

  • well the new civics have like an amazing safety rating

  • so glad i got a hyundai instead!! LOL

  • @09feb1992 Good thinking! with the hyundai you wouldn't feel the pain cuz you'll get crumpled up so much more and faster :)

  • @gwot lolololololololololololololololololololololololololollololololoololloollololololol

  • @gwot LMAO true

  • i wanted a civic so bad until this vid ruined it

  • @awesomedude34567

i used to want one of these old eg6's but then I saw this so now ill get an ep3

  • @awesomedude34567 for the type of car and from the era u cnt expect it to be strong my friend had on of these and had a head on crash wit another car it wasnt that bad see in this video the civic hits a concrete wall.............

  • gorzej niż słabo,a kupują to przważnie dzieciaki, stach się bać

  • it was bad yes but what was the mph, for all we now it was at 65 mph,

and no sub compact in the world is safe at high speeds.

  • Automakers didn't really "perfect" the offset test until 2005 or so. Before that most cars would fail this test. New cars really are the safest on the road.

  • @JordsterMovies However, cars made by Honda are still the most overrated and most overpriced.

  • damn, the dummys penis got ripped off!!

  • r.i.p

  • shit

  • I was so ready to get me one of these, until I saw this. Now I'm doubting the car... Looks like it's off with the Integra.

  • Oh, I wanted to get this exact year too!. I'd still get one. Alot of the 90's cars were lacking in the offset test. look at other import or domestic of similar year in same test. Big or small, just type "F 150 crash test" in search bar to see what I mean.

  • at first i thought that was a tin can...but then i read the title....

  • I drive a 1981 Honda Civic..type it in on google its way smal than this

  • @Lukeschedel it's much smaller so its much dangerous. lol crumple zones arent know in those times. :))

  • Dresiarze dalej chcecie jeździć stara Hondą Civic?

  • no problem use a roll bars =)

  • looks like a modern chinese car
