I appreciate that Rogers tried to give an alternative interpretation of the queen songs. But 1.) I think that the queen songs doesn't work without a freddie-style voice and 2.) this whole performance is rather average. No dynamics, too smooth, no passion. Compare this to the early-80s queen performances. Not only the voice has changed. The whole band sound doesn't even come close to the original queen sound.
To all who don't know, the guy singing this is the great Paul Rodgers. He was the singer in the band Free most known for their hit "All right now" and he was the singer in Bad Company and everyone knows who they are. Paul is just about the greatest singer that ever lived but we are use to Freddy singing so thats why we prefer him to Paul. I'm sure if Freddy would have sung Bad Company songs it would not sound as good as Paul can do it. Nobody can fill either of their shoes.
I really don't like this men....i will never understand why Brian and Roger chose him, is an insult for the history of Queen and memory of Freddie Mercury....but i must say...that i like how he sings this song!!!! Here he made , let's say....a nice job.
@JManFilms That ''dude'' is a legendary singer. In fact, he is so legendary, that the band did not play only Queen songs in that tour, but also covered several Bad Company and Free songs.
Well... it didn't have quite the same drive as with Freddie, but he was... extraordinary!
I think that Rodgers was a decent alternative all things considered. I personally think that the only one, who would have pulled it of better would be like... Robert Plant.
I love Paul Rogers. He's a brilliant rock singer and it's just impossible and unnecessary to compare him with Freddie. His versions of these songs are not similar to those we heard by Freddie, but we can't expect that, can we.
The only one I can think of who could have "decently" replaced Freddie is Bruce Dickinson. He has (almost) the voice range and (almost) a similar stage presence. He also has a very tongue in cheek attitude. Rodgers is a good singer and did great things but in those lives with Queen, my only feeling is "wrong,wrong,wrong..." I am glad they split. I hope they will find a new singer, regain the "crazyness" they had in Freddie's years, remember they are rock, not pop. And please, bring Deacon back!
I think this is an insult to freddies memory, when he died queen said they would never get anyone else to sing with them and then they get Paul Rodgers who i think basically is shit and shouldn't even b singing a Freddie song

I am glad to see Queen in action with paul Rodgers, his voice doesn't hit the high notes like fred used to but if any singer could do it then Fred wouldn't have been so special to all the fans. This is also awesome on a whole other level because it is bringing some awesome bad co., Free and Queen songs to a whole new generation with today's sound technology. The Fred/ Paul fight is a mute point, look at the big picture of rock legends producing more awesome music - be grateful.
Ewww, this is NOT good. To be fair though, I think this is one of those songs that nobody else could sing. Like someone else trying to sing Billie Jean or something, this song belongs to one guy only.
Paul Rodgers seriously knows how to sing, and should not be compared to Freddie Mercury. And hes like a mixture of Robet Downey Jr. and Chuck Norris... Face off Chuck Norris and the body of Robert Downey Jr.
@99jesper6 Nous ne pouvons comparer Paul Rodgers à Freddie...c'est certain mais comme il l'a chanté "Show Must Go On " Alors nous pensons à toi Freddie mais que tes amis continuent malgré tout!!!!
this is my favorite song, they ruined this beautiful song, to me Queen should have called it quits when Freddie died, John Deacon said that they fucked up We are the champions, and he quit the band, saying Queen without Freddie can,t go on. Her was right, now they ruined my favorite song, they should all bite the dust. FREDDIE was FREDDIE!!!
Paul rodgers is apssolutly amazing, and he will never set the standad in queen as what freddie did. But have got to say paul rodgers does an apsolute awsome job at every queen song that he performs. like what would of queen done if paul didnt step in?
well, i think it's good they try without john deacon but it does not sound the same withóut him. You just hear it: it is not john who plays the bass. but i still like this version.
I don't mind Paul at all, but I really think he doesn't sing this one right. I know he does it according to his voice but it just doesn't work for me. Everything else he sings of Queen, I am fine with.

I don't mind Paul Rogers with Queen at all, but this is the one of the few songs where it just doesn't suite him at all, even with the changes they made, its still not enough to make it work. Paul is still good with Queen though
What's with all these people saying Freddie is better? Not that I don't agree with them but your argument is false. Paul Rodgers isn't Freddie, its plain friggin obvious he's not. Second, he's not trying to be Freddie. Aside from that being impossible, Paul Rodgers is Paul Rodgers and he sings the songs how HE wants. If he sang the songs like Freddie did you'd be moaning and pissing that he's trying to be Freddie. So just shut up and above all enjoy the music!
sorry dark frontier i meant to hit green thumbs up soz. but i totally agree, it pisses me off when they complain hes not freddie, what you say i back up 100%
@TheDarkFrontier I agree, people should shut up. He's singing it an octave lower because if he didn't he would sound screechy and they'd all complain more.
@TheDarkFrontier, tell me about it. We all love the wonderful Fred-ster, but he is gone, and no one can bring him back. He will just have to live in our memories forever. In the meantime, we should enjoy Paul's special collaborations with Brian and Rahj. They loved Freddie, too.

i saw them in atl. they were great. it was like seeing the best queen/bad company cover bands. pr didn't try to be fm. i'm glad they still go out..............queen music should be heard.
You kidding, when I heard Lambert singing the high notes I thought he was a woman. Paul Rodgers is the best possible living replacement for Freddie. Although he does a mediocre job with this song.
I respect your opinion, but I AGREE with my opinion too even if I exagerated a litle!
For me this Lamber have a good abbility with the high notes like nobody else in the AI. Alisson too it was great, in my opinion but i'm not from America so it's not important what i.m saing.
Although Paul Rogers does a lots of mediocre job when he perform live but he steel good!
This is no good. "Another One Bites The Dust" is a funky, sparky tune. This interpretation is non-agressive, dare I say 'dull'(?), and Paul Rodgers careful, controlled singing isn't exactly improving it.
I think that this is perhaps the best version I've heard, but the middle bit where Paul says "I'll take it now" around 1.52 to 2.39 lets it down. I've never really liked that section. Thats why I fill it with a bass solo when I play it.
