***** You never used ANY of the "Mercury Safe Removal Protocols" ...and so you exposed not only your patient but also yourself and your assistant to Hazardous Levels of Mercury Vapor!!!
20 years ago I had a lot of respect for the dental profession...now it appears they are charging as much as they can possibly get away with (and the skill set of the newer dentist seems to be not as good), which doesn't mean the older ones are that much better.
My "dentist" got testy and angry at me today becauseI said the crown he was fitting was too tall (affecting the overall fit of my mouth). When I am spending 500 bucks (my end after insurance) dammit I want IT DONE RIGHT!
I gotta ask if anybody knows but i got a filling like last month or so and my tooth has been tempature sensetive and it hurts whenever i use the tooth to chew anyone know whats wrong
No replacement can b as good as a persons own tooth. A denture only chews with 1/12th the power. An implant is fused to the bone and does not give the biofeedback so u no how hard u are chewing. Most dentist spend more time telling people how to take care of their teeth than removing them.
I have to wonder if most of the dental industry keeps prolonging the inevitable just to milk every last penny out of somebody and their bad oral hygiene habits. Someone who has severe tooth decay isn't going to suddenly have the best brushing and flossing techniques in the world. Why keep doing all this stuff for someone who is just going to have to have dentures in a few years anyway?
It's like keeping people who are vegetables alive and charging them millions of dollars to "live".
@staphinfection You dont need best techniques to look after your teeth. Do something useful with your life and then you can afford a good dentist who will make your teeth last. I have never been to a crappy dentist nor have I ever paid too much for it.
Hmmmm...Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there proper amalgam removal protocol that's supposed to be followed? According to the IAOMT, unsafe removal of amalgam fillings can cause more mercury-related health problems to patients because mercury vapor is released in greater quantities as a result of drilling. I also noticed no rubber dam or mercury vapor vacuum used in this video.
I am sorry u have had problems with your dentist.Reasons why a person gets repeated decay. 1 is eating too much sugar and not brushing and flossing well. Another is having a bad bite that puts too much stress on the fillings and causes them to weaken. This allows bacteria to seep in behind the filling and decay occurs. There is the possibility that the dentist is using cheaper materials to keep the cost down. It is possible that the dentist left decay behind.
No disrespect, but I have had to go back again and again for tooth decay in the same teeth. I am very anal about flossing and brushing my teeth. I feel that the dentist leaves a little decay behind for a future pay day.
The rubber dam has its place in dentistry. Not every procedure needs it. Every dentist makes a decision when to use it. The mouth is a harsh environment and if isolation is compromised the fillings will not bond and the fillings will not last. I have used a microscope for 15 years and many times have restored teeth without a rubber dam and the fillings are still in place without decay.
A microscope yet no dental dam... Weird standards of practice if you ask me. What good is it to remove just the exact right amount of tooth structure because you can see better, but then restore with a composite without proper isolation?
@MrsZakariah YES! That's what I was going to say! What a HORROR to see the mercury Amalgam dust sit there in the patients mouth for so long! Why did you wait forever to suction it out?? AND not do a very clean job! That patient is swallowing MERCURY doc!
Good work Doctor.... you are a hero if the patient suffers no pain, a demon if the legitimate process results in pain... your process was perfectly correct, but Dentistry is so difficulty 'cause someone down the street will condemn you for being either "always doing crowns" or his fillings always ache. Life is too easy for the Dr Bads whereas the Dr Goods are not so lucky.
Dr Julian, Dentist, about to retire 'cause it is all too hard!
@dudehere1981 Common composites are proven to be clealry worse in terms of leak-tightness compared to amalgam fillings. Only expensive ceramics are comparable.
It is really interesting, maybe i will study it on secondary school, its really interesting. What is top priority for dentist? On what you must concentrate to make things right?
I think there are some studys that show that the amalgum fillings are not harmful to the body when removed. Dental dams are barbarick but provide good isolation. Isolation is VERY important when bonding.

A dentist wants to help people keep their teeth for life. He wants to make the process as easy as possible.

Dr, you should really use a dental dam when removing amalgam fillings to prevent swallowing of any mercury.
