@Darusdei That's not how it is used. t is used to determine when a suspect is cooperating. They only ask questions that they know they answer to when they are actually waterboarding. When the answers start to become truthful, they stop the waterboarding and begin regular questioning. So, the waterboarding was a useful tool whether he gave up the info with regular interrogation methods instead. That's how it works. It breaks a persons resistance and lets you know when that's happened.

There is a huge difference between waterboarding someone who is a danger to the country and thinking it's a substitute for spanking. I think the argument in this video is a bit of a slippery slope. And the more you panic, the more water you suck in.

Waterboarding may have made him very unpleasant and unfortunate but it brought in (or at least CONTRIBUTED to the death) Bin Laden. This is public knowledge and not part of the debate. The part of the debate is if he would have given up the info anyway in his own sweet time with different methods.

@Darusdei That's not how it is used. t is used to determine when a suspect is cooperating. They only ask questions that they know they answer to when they are actually waterboarding. When the answers start to become truthful, they stop the waterboarding and begin regular questioning. So, the waterboarding was a useful tool whether he gave up the info with regular interrogation methods instead. That's how it works. It breaks a persons resistance and lets you know when that's happened.

It is the equivalent of saying that spanking kills children as many have died from being beat to death. There is a correct way to do it that doesn't cause long-term damage but is still effective. There is a huge difference between waterboarding someone who is a danger to the country and thinking it's a substitute for spanking. I think the argument in this video is a bit of a slippery slope. I do think it's cruel, and should only be used in the most dire of situations to extract intel from people who will not respond to any other form of interrogation when regarding national security and if done should be extremely regulated.

@omnissient I should've written "CLEAR evidence" to emphasize the key word CLEAR...i.e. we CLEARLY know that this particular individual is linked to terrorism. Those Navy SEALs who punched that terrorist during interrogation (the one responsible for the ambush against Blackwater guards and hanging their bodies for local media) CLEARLY knew they had their guy. After knowing the details of their crimes, it's only appropriate that they get at least a fraction of what they deserve as punishment.

Waterboarding: The victim is placed on a sloped bench, feet at the high side. A hand towel is folded in half and placed over the victims face. Water is then poured onto the towel. It becomes impossible to breathe through a soaked towel. You can exhale, but not inhale. Lots of water goes up your nose and pools in your sinus cavities. It's not "like"drowning", it is drowning. And the more you panic, the more water you suck in.
I've tried waterboarding. It is terrible torture.

Anyway as f**d up as this is, I'm sorta glad it happened to her so young because it's gotten him caught & she'll have the chance to experience a real loving family in a real home somewhere.
