  • I looked at many different religions; and I concluded they cannot all be the truth. Since I dont know what the truth is I have no way to judge which of them is right. So I gave up religion.

But I am not an atheist.

I separated the issues of religion and truth and threw out religion.

But I have not thrown the baby out with the bathwater as I think many have.

  • @Drastam

    So you're agnostic?

  • @Ryuk Agnostic as to the nature of Truth; not as to its existence.

There is good reason to think there is more to reality than meets the eye.

  • To discuss the idea of choice and free will is interesting. Although a PC does not actually think and processes information slower that the human brain, to relate the thought process to bits per second and understand in that way the strengths and weaknesses of the mind is sort of a rational beginning or dawn of perception. Yeah you don't really want to be an atheist but once you are gifted with a level of rationalization, scientific reasoning and logic, you are left with no other choice eh?

  • Nice visuals on the video! Stark. Nicely edited. I couldn't quite understand the introductory comments, however. I like the rotating metamorphosis and the interview style.

  • Did I choose? I guess I choose labels. I didn't choose to believe--it was forced on me by constant brainwashing from birth--nightly prayers, constant references to god as if it were a fact. But as soon as I started using my brain, it was clear that the Bible stories were just that--stories. Like's Grimm's Fairy Tales or the stories of other religions. There was no way to keep believing once I objectively examined and looked for real evidence. I valued honesty too much.

  • the problem i have with religion is that it can lead u to actions that go against humanity for instance catholics not being allowed to use condoms and preventing the spread of aids

  • A nice composition, but I had much difficulty trying to hear through all the echos.

I never really chose to be an atheist either.

To me blind faith isn't something that I can believe.

That coupled wih the fact that most religions claim to be the 'TRUE' religion even though there are thousands!

I did affirm my atheism however when I wrote and recited my atheists prayer.

(And didn't get struck by lightning!)

  • Man I wish I could shoot stuff like your friend did. Good stuff. Choosing to be an atheist is like 'choosing' to believe. You lean where you mind takes you. The concept of choice is ridiculous here. Belief is an involuntary reaction

  • Hehe my parents doesn't even know the word atheist!! They have never think about god stuff to begin with!!

  • re: your vid description - lmfao!

  • That is how it happened with me. Went church shopping, kept finding the same politics and narrow thinking. Eventually Icame to one conclusion.

    Great video

  • I didn't choose to be anatheist. I was born that way :)

  • YEP! Who says atheists are a minority group?

  • Cool video.

I did not choose to be an atheist either.

I just succumbed to common sense.

  • lol you make it sound like a bad thing.

  • nice vid! sweet setup!

Holybabble, you took a step(or got shoved) into religion and then figured out it was time to step out.

As for myself I have never stepped into religion.. yet. Religion has always seemed REALLY far fetched and at odds with reality.

Like you I have never strived to be an atheist, it's just a side effect of reality impacting my life.

  • I'm not sure that people really choose to believe anything. They are either convinced or they are not. Even when we do what we call "Change our minds" I think that is a misnomer. We become convinced that what we believed was untrue and our minds change. I don't think we consciously choose our beliefs.

  • 0:28 you look like Christian Bale! :)

  • This was really cool :) When I mention a soul... it's mostly just an "expression". I don't believe in a soul in the religious sense. Great video :)

  • Nice effects!

Might not "soul searching" better be called "self searching?" I think being an atheist is more of a discovery than a choice. As a child, one believes as the big people around him/her believe. As an adult, some actually examine those beliefs and may either own them or reject them.

  • Very film noir of you....lol
