My grandfather told my father of the great patriotic war, basically WW2, he fought the Poles, he said that at the time he joined we were allies with the Germans. He even marched with the Germans in Poland. Then like 12 months later he was killing the same Germans he had marched with before. All for politics.

When he went home, the government arrested him, took him away from my father when he was a boy, my father thinks he was executed sometime during the 60's or died in some work camp.

Infantry are better tall and strong, whereas ( keeping in mind this was written in the 60's) tail gunners and some crew on bomber aircraft used to be very short, around 5 foot 2. Missiles and spears means that he could fight in any situation, with any weapon. Although, anything that's thrown can be defined as a missile.
