  • @stradlemonkey444 Your very welcome. Merry Christmas!

  • History is a flowery yet cancerous mess

  • @Harbingerz1 Here are your bible verses:7 Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.Luke 21:9 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by."Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

  • @txermza amen and Merry Christmas.

  • OK. i am going to politley correct some fellow youtube users. First, A holy war is any battle fought for some religious belief or for the sake of religion. In earlier times, it was a crusade or an expedition carried on by Christians against the Saracens in the Holy Land in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries for the possession of the holy places. Islam also talks about holy war (Jihad), to be fought only for reasonable causes and only for religious matters and nothing else.

  • jesus was born a palestinian and a jew...remember that

  • The word Muslim does not appear in the original version!

  • @Harbingerz1 it says in the description they adapted the lyrics a bit to fit our time better

  • @rockdoll87 My point was, we think that religion causes war, whereas it's people who want to eradicate religions that cause them. Contrarily to what you hear on Tv or what you read in the newspapers, wars are territorial or economical...those are the chief two reasons! No religion whatsoever would ever advise someone to wage war on someone else...this does not change the fact that I do like the song...I also like the version of Donovan! ; )

  • @Harbingerz1 What are you talking about, this is the most moronic thing I have ever heard. Uggh the crusades, and while your right that often wars are caused by socio economic pressures on land and resources its religions that allow people to justify the most horrendous of actions, look at the bosnean war every religious ass from the vikings onward has claimed divine right and the support of the gods to massacre their enemies. Also which wars have been fought for the erradication of religion?

  • @oddball111 Moronic thing ? Damn idiot! I'm talking about power, have you ever read the bible, Torah or Quran ? Please if you have, provide me with a passage that advises people to go to war! It's humans that are despicable, longing for power, goods and money...The Crusades ? Yes, exactly what I mentioned earlier TERRITORIAL...The Bible does not say GO CONQUER JERUSALEM !SAME THING FOR THE BOSNEANS!TERRITORIAL! For regard the eradication of religions, you live it right now! just think a minute!

  • Comment removed

  • @oddball111 Ho and please stop just quoting what you hear on the news! The most horrendous actions occurred the last two centuries and nothing whatsoever was religion related! WWI, WWII, COLD WAR, Iraq War, etc etc etc etc etc etc...

  • @Harbingerz1 of course people are always the problem, whether they kill each other for religion, politics or whatever else. I still think religion plays a big role in a lot of conflicts in the world, because it is one of the things that make people different from one another. and as we all know, being different, in some people's eyes, is enough to hate and persecute others. just one more drawer to stick people in. and, sadly, religion and politics go together hand in hand too much still nowadays

  • i know it sounds not original, but by heart it's original

  • im so glad i found you's <3

  • lmao

  • I mean, it's great, but the SUPER dry sound makes the annoying background sound stand out even more.

  • ... I totally thought she was standing.....

  • well its great putting your guns down - if the other side puts their guns down too. Americans go looking for war, they dont know what its like having it right on your doorstep.

  • wow......

  • beautiful!!!!!

  • this is a really beautiful song and first aid kit did an even more beautiful cover of it. Make music, not war. Drop seeds, not bombs.

  • May I, if so content with everyone else, just let this be known...

Right and wrong is part of humanity, it always has been, and always will be. And to an extent it is part of our nature, therefore to change our nature, is to put a cow in a chicken's coop. It won't work. Arguably, we never have changed. Humans take what is for granted, and glorify it for all the wrong reasons. Maybe, war isn't a symptom of a terrible disease called sin. Maybe it's just a side-effect.

  • @txermza But most of us have never participated in war. A majority of us have never killed. We never fight with fist or beat anyone up. Are we unnatural?

  • @annaninq

not necessarily. Let me re-wrod this, Fighting a war isnt fighting a war with guns, its fighting for something you believe in. And what are we if not belief? So what i was trying to get at wasn't that we've all fought and were going to hell for it.What my point was is that it's a part of us. And whether or not you've picked up a gun and pointed it at someone with the intent to kill, dosen't mean that you're the only one fighting for what you belive in. we're all fighting.

  • @lois081 is "right" or "wrong". Don't misunderstand me though. I'm all for peace and love, but ask yourself this: "are we even truly capable of life without war? Could a supposed utopian society ever really exist on earth?"

  • @lois081 that's all absolutely true. I know youre being sarcastic, but it's true. Evil is a point of view. And war is necessary. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool, because when has "peace" solved anything? War is the single most effective force on earth that had the power to force change. And furthermore, evil and good are nonexistent. We only know what we've been told, and those that told us what we know only knew what they were told. And so on and so forth, so there's no way to prove what

  • you guys should sing ''Blowin in the wind'' one day!

that song is amazing and beautiful just like you !!! <3

  • they remind me of Heart

  • Please listen to Phil Ochs, ladies. He's the one (and my hero).

  • Fricken amazing. Someone who cares.

  • This is why art exists. To express the most powerful messages in the most beautiful form possible. This is a truly amazing cover, and I think you two really added something more to the already profound message of this song. So awe-inspiring.

  • oh my god you guys are amazing!!!!! you better become famous!

  • hay que ser un maldito ignorante para que no te gusta esta hermosa musica

  • i absolutely love this song!!! <3

  • Uhmmm sorry, but youre hot.

  • unnecessary effecs.and islam is substituted by soil. call their names if you mean it. if youre afraid to speak the truth keep soylent.

  • I love this song so much!!

  • donovan sings this song and i like his version as well... its a little faster but a woman should sing this song a little slower because,,,, well i dont know it just seems right.... just a little sexist attitude i guess :)

  • Must have been real uncomfortable on her knees

  • First Aide Kit is always very touching...but this really hit home.

My opinion: The composition was simple but extremely profound. Acoustically, it sounded superb and the positioning of the performers was dead on genius.

  • just Magic melodie

  • 9 dislikes = the vocal minority that got us into this shit to begin with and always does.

  • @Turk1389 What are you trying to say here?

  • @avacadoconquat I can't imagine anyone would object to the music itself unless they were tone deaf. The, now 11, dislike votes on the video are likely from those that disagree with the message of the song which is one of anti-war. These people, that would oppose a message of peace, are frightened, ignorant people without conscience that will always argue that war is necessary to protect us from "evil" ... evil btw is an abstract, imaginary concept that does not apply to the real world.

  • @Turk1389 If evil is an imaginary, abstract concept, then that means anything that I do is okay, because anyone who disagrees with me is just operating under imaginary concepts that don't apply to the real world? So I can steal an old lady's purse and it's fine? I can roll through a red light when someone's crossing the street? I can throw millions into concentration camps? And then why should we end war and have peace? If evil is imaginary, then war is just another human activity.

  • Excellent performance young ladies!!! This what Voltaire said over three hundred years ago. There will always be war because there is always a fresh crop of boys wanting to prove they are men and men, who care more for wealth than they do for life. Murder is murder, doesn't matter what you call the target on the other side.

  • Love the very end hahahah :)

  • When I watch this, I feel like I've been shipped back to the late 60's. They're voices, they're clothes, the songs meaning - its awesome.

  • BEAUTIFUL GIRLS!

  • this is sooo amazing i cant stop hitting replay iam totally obsessed

  • A truly beautiful version of the song. Sung from the heart. well done. It's most heartening to see such young people spreading the anti-war message using none other than the ultimate MESSENGER's (Buffy Sainte-Marie) song. Girls, you are great credit to modern humanity, which many young people seem to have forgotten. Keep up the good work.

  • this is great cover!

  • I'd think that Buffy sainte-marie would be more than honored to see this song taken to such a modern and still constantly timeless perspective.

  • Beautiful voices and harmony keep up the good work. :)

  • There isn't vocal editing! Thats called natural acoustics :) Good job girls on an excelent choice of recording space.

  • Nice. Very talented.

  • ... I share your feelings having served 20 years as a combat medic in HM forces. But, for all we saw, and did, for all the doubts, there are families no longer in fear of their lives, or frightened to have a view, or to disagree. THAT is true patriotism, its not right in a lot of eyes, but the view depends on what side of the wall you sit. Have peace in your heart, you have earned it!

  • @XxBeatlesforeverxX okay thx

  • johanne never gets to sing she is always back up.

  • @tinkermagic They said that's going to change, on their newest album, since Klara learnt how to harmonize.

  • Wow, very beautiful. I love the setting and your voice of course is flawless. The harmony is gorgeous.

  • This is a very nice update to the song.

  • Always loved Donovan's version of this, such a poignant song!

  • this is amazinggg

  • wondeful ... <3

  • This sounds excellent- but how much vocal processing do y'all use? I can hear it.

  • and now .. what a voices :D haha .. whatever..beautiful ..

  • what a voice ...

  • I was one one thousands of generations of lemmings jumping over the cliffs of war. Sp5 Miles 1st SFGA Vietnam 1968

  • It says what we need to hear now... For me the Universal Soldier is any soldier in any war regardless of the era... War spans hundreds upon hundreds of years... We lose too many young lives to the monsters and now our own children.

Girls you did a wonderful job... Keep up the good work...

  • My grandfather told my father of the great patriotic war, basically WW2, he fought the Poles, he said that at the time he joined we were allies with the Germans. He even marched with the Germans in Poland. Then like 12 months later he was killing the same Germans he had marched with before. All for politics.

When he went home, the government arrested him, took him away from my father when he was a boy, my father thinks he was executed sometime during the 60's or died in some work camp.

  • This is heartbreakingly beautiful

  • Well done Girls! Its so good to listen to your golden voices singing this historic song i love so much. Thank you first to Donovan whom first ve written this call for PEACE AND NO COLLABORATION WITH ALL KIND OF WARS...

Thank you for your sobriety Girls. Keep on ahead we love you

    sysy

  • I dont LOVE how they change the lyrics to make them relevant to recent issues...it kinda ignores where the songs from comes from. But regardless it's still a good cover. Also @armdtrmd Buffy Saint-Marie is Canadian

  • Is there anywhere I can download this song? I don't see it on the album (unless I'm missing something?). My dad would love this song, and I'm sure he'd love all the songs, as I dearly do. Play Scotland, please :)

  • @sundayneverends I'm pretty sure you can purchase it on itunes.

  • this is is so true and honest. It isn't calling anyone out or justifying anything, it's just the truth.

  • Your gift will enlighten many for years to come.

  • what is that thing in the background?

  • @outsidedreaming its at a cemitary out side stockholm, the hole place is on the NESCO World Heritage Site

  • damn. i cried.

  • I know all versions of this song and your interpretation is somehow the best. It's weird not to hear the same strident / angry tone of people like Buffy St Marie (who is a big favourite as well). It somehow makes this a much more powerful song the way you sing it.

  • nice harmonies, girls!

  • "he's five feet two and he's six feet four ... he fights with missiles and with spears." (mad writer sighs!) ... (who the fuck says shit like that!?!?!) ... (I'll have to look it up, I can already tell!) ... !!!

  • @s1rrah Buffy Sainte-Marie wrote this song. She is an American Indian song writer/folk singer. She has an oscar and was on sesame street. You should look it up because she is great!

  • @s1rrah Ha ha, good opening line alright. I think it refers to the concept of the universal soldier. Infantry are better tall and strong, whereas ( keeping in mind this was written in the 60's) tail gunners and some crew on bomber aircraft used to be very short, around 5 foot 2. Missiles and spears means that he could fight in any situation, with any weapon. Although, anything that's thrown can be defined as a missile.

  • good lyrics. wow.

  • beautiful
