As for Jackson Rathbone, it's not because he plays in a saga which does not please many that it's a bad actor. To say if an actor is really bad, it's necessary to see several of his roles. But if on a movie the performance is very good, on the following one it maybe a disaster and even all the good actors or good actresses made a bad performance at least once in their lives. And very often a bad performance is bound to a bad realization (X-Men Origins: Wolverine for exemple).
I have to say at first that although being a fan of metal, the black is not my favourite genre but if the movie leads to the fact that young people are beat up in the street just because they wear a T-shirt with a representation of the Grim Reaper or New Rock's boots, I agree so that this movie does not go out.

Varg-- the main character would've horribly been miscast. It's based on a book that doesn't give the movie makers any character references, so the script would have to suck, as the characters aren't going to say anything that real people say. The people making the film are Japanese horror movie makers-- I've yet to see a good Japanese horror film, one which isn't horribly disorganized.

As for Jackson Rathbone, it's not because he plays in a saga which does not please many that it's a bad actor. To say if an actor is really bad, it's necessary to see several of his roles. But if on a movie the performance is very good, on the following one it maybe a disaster and even all the good actors or good actresses made a bad performance at least once in their lives. And very often a bad performance is bound to a bad realization (X-Men Origins: Wolverine for exemple).

This movie would've sucked horribly:
Varg-- the main character would've horribly been miscast. It's based on a book that doesn't give the movie makers any character references, so the script would have to suck, as the characters aren't going to say anything that real people say. The people making the film are Japanese horror movie makers-- I've yet to see a good Japanese horror film, one which isn't horribly disorganized.
But it might also be unintentionally hilarious!

The movie is being directed by Sion Sono, This movie is going to be as brutal as the origional story, and its not a "teen horror film" its a normal one, a GOOD one. Plus dont think black metal will appeal to anyone anyway, Even if this film gets huge world wide release, people wont give a shit about the music, they'll most likely critisize the music. The director has described this as a "similar project" to Suicide Circle, an earlier film of his. Watch that and you will know that this movie is going to be brutal, and not teen horror, despite that terrible casting call on the part of the production company.
