  • this is nice

  • Is it just me, or does everyone on this show seem like they're really annoyed by this lady?

  • He said they started a town but it didn't last, sad. I guess they were defeated by their televisions.

  • Best quote: "Holy cow, there's gotta be more to life than TV and cornflakes!" - Bill Wilson

  • 'have you ever felt more alive than you have in the past 2 years' -24:16

wow... so true. how beautiful this man's heart is

  • I am moved, this mank knows. Thank you!

  • Nature is conservative. You would struggle to find a plant that is photosynthesizes at an efficiency of 1%. Bamboos come close. Philosophically we need to do more with less, post-peak, like the rest of nature.

  • encouraging, a lot of hits for a recent post that is not "cat falling down the stairs" material... on the peace-not-war playlist this one now, peace love and revolution, r...

  • Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Wow! what a great speaker.

  • hey Vel, long time no talk to, how are you?

  • indeed.... NATURE IS REALITY, FOLLOW UR HEART N DREAMZ,

    WE ARE ALL CONNECTED ,

    FREE ENERGY

    harmony..... respect,

     love light n abundance

to all that grows on our planet n beyond :)

  • Wonderful - one of the best! I love Bill and his philosophies. I took the online part of the Midwest Permaculture PDC last spring. Even if I never get out there for the hands-on week, the online webinar was well worth the time and money.

  • Wow, what a charisma.

At the end of the interview, i think, you felt the same.

Thank you very much and greetings from germany.

  • Kudos on the much improved video quality. You content is king as usual.

  • Another wonderful interview! Thank you Janaia!

  • "I think that we have created a culture that is pretty much dis-connected from reality."

Right on. The reality of human life on Earth is not ultimately determined by politics, economics, religion, science, art, technology, or anything else invented in our civilized cultures.

It is nature, our physical environment, that determines our reality, in the end.

  • Bill Wilson seems like the ideal type of person for a teacher. good thing he left trucking career. =)

  • Excellent and inspiring video thankyou

  • There's a saying do what you love and the money will follow.

When I was 18 I heard a saying Choose your rut wisely, you'll be in it the next 40 years.

Gambling with your future can be tough Potting a few veggies on the side of your house and perhaps building a raised bed for more sustainable food should not be too terribly big of a decision. Composting, collecting rain water to water your new built raised bed, scoring some solar panels one or two a month till you meet your needs? Windmill? etc.

  • Well I havent read the Global Warming e-mails so I cant verify if that is true or not.But we are going to run out of oil sooner or later might as well learn how to live with less now.

  • I don't thing it is a matter of living with less. I think it is a matter of learning how to keep what we have and improve how we live while changing how we go about making it and using it.

That is why I have such a problem with Climate Change, it takes so much that could be focused on better ways to make what we need and want. Better ways to provide the fuel and energy to live in a manner that is at least close to what we have now if not even better.

  • I think our affluent lifestyles are totally dependent on the one-time bonanza of cheap fossil fuels. All of the alternative sources put together can't match oil. And we squandered our opportunity after the 1970s US peak oil, to really develop alternatives into mature replacement energy sources. And oil isn't the only resource that's peaking. And coal would be disastrous climate-wise. So I think we will need to live with less--conserving, efficiency, sharing, emphasizing quality over quantity.

  • 25:00 No greater words have I ever heard. That was amazing and you right.

Everyday - We should decide not to go to war, not submit to tyranny, not to become lazy, narcissistic and asleep. I will do what is in my heart to do, not what I am told I 'should' or 'must' do - but what the energy that surrounds me compels.

I can't wait till we all live in a world full of people like you. I think I do, they just don't know yet. Let's wake them up. ;?)

  • Funny, I've been doing permaculture intuitively since I was a child. I always look at properties and cities, shorelines...etc. and see ways of sustainability.

I have actually been contemplating this same Utopian community with the same sort of ideas...great to see someone has already embarked on it.

It inspires me to launch my own project - we should get the government to back all this. They stole all our money anyhow, we might as well get it back.

  • I am very glad you are thinking this way amiko...I think you wll very definetely find your way to radiant purpose and meaning for your life, and meaning for others...follow your thoughts.

  • The last thing you want is to get the government involved. They'll screw it up just like everything else the government has ever touched. - spatin

  • @spatinco

yep, government is evil, had a guy come by from Agriculture and told me I couldnt use the water from my dugout without permission from the government.

  • I agree - but they giving shitloads of money away for 'new energy' and 'sustainability' research and development.

I'm only speaking of something like a 'pilot project' where they supply government land or a handy Zero Percent interest loan or grant to develop a 'society'.

Our rights wouldn't be any more compromised than they already are and instead of being a threat to the government - we'd be protected by their corruption rather than a victim of it.

Let it be their dime until they collapse.

  • Great show! Thank you

  • What about the oil fields found Canada, and Brazil and Natural Gas found in Louisiana that is said to be enough for a 100 years... I'm no fan of using oil, I think it makes people fat, lazy and spoiled, but I hear so many stories about reserves be found every day all over the world enough for hundreds of years.

  • That actually is misinformation. There are fewer and fewer viable oil fields anymore and they are getting harder and harder to detect and extract.

The cost of extraction is increasing as we squeeze what we can, just like Canada's 'sand fields' - the processing just isn't cost effective.

We have evolved enough technology that we can truly move forward onto new energies - there is an amazing amount stored in everything around us - we need to return to structure we are apart of and heal.

  • Well it seems strange that I keep hearing about all of this oil and you would also think the Markets would understand this and reflect it in the prices Gas at the pump is holding steady for a change lately. I find it hard to understand that.. Sometimes I feel like I'm in wonder land hearing so many contradictions in so many stories with Global Warming, War, the Dollar and Markets.. Its hard to make sense of it all and prepare.

  • Agreed - that is why education is paramount. Self education. Avoiding ALL media. Go to the sources, validate their claims.

Don't rely on the media or anyone to TELL you, look it up, it really isn't that hard to find the facts out for yourself. That is all these would-be 'journalist' do...they just google it, no real research.

IMHO the best way to be prepared is to follow those that are successful and can demonstrate their skills.

    Truth lies in the proof.

As far as oil - that is manipulated.

  • I can tell you this as a currency trader myself.

Oil IS Black Gold. It is used to keep the value of the US currency against us not having any actual Gold Reserves.

They slow and increase production based on keeping a bottom line profit and any 'News' of conflict with the US causes Oil prices to surge as it is perceived we or Saudi will cut production or hinder transportation.

Its what we call 'Risk Aversion' See, if the dollar drops, Banks (foreign) move all their money into Gold, or Stock.

  • Or Oil - any other 'valued' commodity that can later be re-sold back into US currency once it is back up or strong.

See there are millions of banks all throwing their money around between these three 'vehicles' and this is what causes that 'wave' in prices you see.

This is also why we are in the middle east - because we are oil barrens and they threaten to leave us out - which for the US and Canada would be devastating - so we declare war on them. Preemptively and steal their oil & everything.

  • interesting. Thanks

  • I know it all gets to be very confusing- it is that way on purpose. But the bottom line is survival and prosperity.

I think we should all go 'Cellular' but not in the phone way - but as communities that produce.

My dream is a 1000 acre holding with 10 (families/individuals) each owning 100 acres each with a common permaculture garden & kitchen with civic areas for arts and education. Food is produced by each family, excess is used at the public kitchen to make meals or compost.

  • Within our society, we as a collective would make our own soaps, clothes, and manufactured product we'd need, exporting for sale our excess to other 'Cells' in our regional area.

We would each have access to community aid and equipment for development like backhoes and bobcats and people to help you build your new eco-friendly home and you can experiment and explore all you want.

No taxes, no government, just manageable self sustaining communities. Not cut off, just becoming self sufficient.

  • It wouldn't be communism or socialism, it would honestly be true anarchy. Which would be awesome.

The problem I see is that our would is just overly congested and the 'cells' are too scattered and loose to be effective.

We are becoming a larger organ in a larger organism - so we all need to specialize and manage our local areas only - with limited outside influence, just as your body's cells work.

The answers are all right there in front of everyone's face, we have just been blinded by greed.

  • Explain how it's anarchy.... As I see it these people live in communities and live together on a co-operate with one another so the community can survive and thrive base around common rule or laws base around the concepts of nature. It's not anarchy it's anachro-communism without the iron fist like Soveit Russia. Well what do you know communism can work...

  • No - it is Classical anarchy as defined. " a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government."

I actually just had this discussion..lol

The idea is that each individual has complete and total freedom on their property - community involvement is voluntary and by no means mandatory, nor are their 'Laws or Police' only agreed upon principles and respect for each others' property.

Its actually called Voluntarism. Not anachro-comm whatever no redistribution of wealth.

  • the people form their own government or own rules then it's no longer an anarchy .

  • Anarchy (from Greek: ἀναρχία anarchía, "without ruler") may refer to any of the following: * "No rulership or enforced authority."[1] * "Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder."[2] * "A social state in which there is no governing person or group of people, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder)."[3]

  • if they co operate with one another it's a form of communism if you wish to debate this further look for me on stickam. If not then don't bother making any more statements unless you have sources that say otherwise.

  • I do, its called a college degree. And no, I don't need to be baited into stickcam - I have a life.

You're a little too naive yet to really understand what your talking about so a discussion is moot.

The definition of Anarchy (as sited by yourself) is NO RULER.. NO ENFORCED Authority.

Working together voluntarily is not anywhere near Communism nor do you apparently grasp what true Anarchy means.

It does not mean chaos and disarray, and separatism - that's retarded, sorry.

    Anarchy = NoGov.

  • PsyogiBottoms, I have also been looking into community structures, and the ones that I believe have the best chance of success are like those you have described, "Villages" under 50 homes, each home/plot is a self contained unit in regards to food. everyone is responsible for their production, so their are no "community obligations" so its not communism, those in a community that are not into farming, and perform other services, could allow cultivation from the land, and "sell" their services -

  • The "Cellular" network of these eco-villages could would give them strength, excess production cold be sold to nearby cities and towns, I mean there is way to little room to explain here all the details, but people work, make money and do not have to live like the Amish, or under "communism" the Anarchy I see is that these people do not need government, are not dependent on others for survival like big corporations. corporations are powerful because people buy their products.

  • What happens when we stop? they become weaker, no bricks need to be thrown, no riots, or burning tires in the streets. at the moment though the perceived "help" of the Gov. to alternatives is really to prolong the dependence on oil, how? they know only a fraction of the population will go alternative, and by lowering consumption of oil, will extend the availability of it, allowing more profit to the oil companies over a longer time. Corporations run this country.
