  • Love this song <3

  • questa canzone mi da i brividi ogni volta che l'ascolto...mi sembra di volare senza meta...

  • Easzaz and ccubed wasn't this entire album dedicated to his former bandmate that committed suicide? I am fairly sure the title in your memory was sorta explanatory but whatever... he doesn't encourage self mutilation but the album was for the life of his deceased friend. Dave has such an amazing talent from his drumming to vocals and guitar abilities all around an amazing artist!!!

  • @Ashlynn2477 if thats true I 100% take back what I said, either way he's a great musicain, just didn't fully understand why he's saying these things, and personally I think alot of others don't even know, so does that even matter when the masses beileve taking about self harm is relievant

  • @EaszAz Beechez who self harm need tp go 2 sanity skool. jus sayin.

Im sorry, im a terrible person

  • such a great guitar sound, but such dumb lyrics

  • @EaszAz Dumb lyrics? This song is about self harm and suicidal thoughts. This song is a release for so many people. The rhyming may be simple in the slightest, but that's what makes a song. Share your opinions lightly.

  • @HindsxOurxSound I believe that making songs about self harm never solves the problem, the fact self harm is popular in the culture of today is because of the music and entertainment industry, songs like this come across a good strong message to people doing it, when for alot of youngsters it could be an excuse to find it right, hence the lyric 'sweet and divine, razor of mine' Great music I agree, lyrics are careless

  • @EaszAz I see this song more as a metaphor for somebody that's clearly bad for you, but you can't get them out of your life, or are unwilling to; that kind of self-harm. Either way, music is not responsible for kids hurting themselves, their parents and peers have the most influence on such behavior, and society as a whole. But it isn't Dave Grohl's fault individually.

  • @CCubed1717 of course its not his fault. and yes its the parents fault i agree, but this music isn't exsactly 'helping' thats my point, lets agree on disagreeing lol. but your not wrong i will say that

  • @EaszAz You have no taste in music, seriously.

  • @AugustoAD you have no proof, seriously

  • @EaszAz I'm glad you think your opinion is needed. GTFO

  • @KingYen416 keep your keyboard out of this

  • I love this song!

  • love this one. <3

  • sweeeeet aunt.... jemime lol

  • put my face on the window and listen to the rain

  • I used to cut from 12-13 yrs old. I love this song at 33.

  • such a great song

  • The 9 people who disliked this song are miserable in life...and probably hate themselves. Idiots. Grohl is God. Peace.

  • I remember only owning FF's first album when I was fourteen biking around town listening to it and singing it without caring who heard. It's still my favorite album for nostalgic reasons. But this song made Grohl one of my favorite song writers. So haunting and beautiful.

  • Words can't describe the feelings, images, and everything else that comes through my mind when I hear this, But I love it.

  • I need to know

    I need to know, tonight

  • this is Josh Homme playing guitar!

  • @YeungyBassMasta

No this is Dave Grohl, one of the best musician ever.

  • @Fallout1Boi look it up, Josh Homme guested guitar on this album :)

  • I'm a big Foo Fighters fan but I haven't heard this song before. It's pretty good. Sounds a bit like Mumford and Sons.

  • @MoldyTaters

Same ehere .. but i love this song now'

  • @MoldyTaters i thank you for posting this comment!! i like this song a lot so when i saw this i thought hmm maybe i should check out some mumford and sons... and now i love foo fighters AND mumford and sons! lol :P

  • it's old! and it sounds nothing like mumford and sons!!

  • @DannysStarGirl91 Foo Fighters in general sound nothing like Mumford and Sons (I get that) but I think just this one song does.

  • @MoldyTaters Except that this song was released 2 years before Mumford and Sons even formed. Just sayin'. Both are great bands.

  • I believe this is about the homeless and desperate people who are trying to cope with this fucked up world. Sometimes the pain shuts out the memories of the hurtful past. Ipray for all those thet hurt.

  • sweden and vine???

  • @opi360 sweet and divine retard -_____-

  • @cgman04 boooooooa really????? thank you...... :[]

  • i love this song... hope they do a follow up called aftershave

  • @skyestheword lmfao

  • LOL.. a guy shaving hahaha.. that made me laugh so hard!!

  • I think that this song could be about whatever you want it to be about. I don't think that he's specifically said that it's about shaving or self-harm. That's the awesome thing about music. It could have a different interpretation for every person, it's just what that person thinks about it.

  • this song NEEDS to be in House.

  • @123rockfan I signed in just to thumb this up. This would fit that show (which also happens to be my favorite) perfectly.

  • ya know i really dont think this is a song about him shaving. why would a person like him with so much tallent right a song about a guy shaving. i think its about him trying to find himself, trying to choose between life with a loved one, or the razor,(sweet and divine) being the one who makes the choice for him....or it could be about a guy shaving......

  • coming from someone that had a problem with cutting...this hits home

  • @justsheri1 itsaboutdavegrohlsavinghisbeardwitharazornotaboutselfinflictedcutting

  • @patsfan41191 Ithinkyouforgottoaddsomespacesinwhatyouwrote. It'skindahardtoreadwhenyouwritelikethis. Andit'skindahardtotypelikethistoo.... Anyways,yougetwhatI'mtryingtosay

  • @patsfan41191 Iknowright.It'sjustsuchanawesomestory

  • this would suit sweenie todd very well :D lol

  • Don't you just hate shaving your pubes for a hot girl but you cut yourself and those red dots show up?

  • great song<3

  • @RunawayMongoose

It's in the beginning of the movie Catch and Release, during the whole introduction scene. That's where I know it from at least:)

  • holy crap, i feel like i have heard this song before in a movie...weird

  • @RunawayMongoose its kinda like the end of napolean dynamite

  • 9 people cut themselves shaving

  • touching <3

  • i love this song good 2 listen to when sad.

wake up it's time...make up your mind...i need to know i need to know tonight

  • i love this song good 2 listen to when sad.

  • I actually listened to this while I shaved the other day and that is something you must experience.

  • Yea.. The very first time I listened to this song.. I just imaged Dave himself shaving his big long Jesus beard..

In a way.. When I listen to this song, I think of new begginings.. Or I get the feeling of like.. I'm starting to set out for a new adventure.

Fucken Dave. I Love these guys.

  • who cares what this song is about? it meant one thing to the artist and can mean something different to someone else. just enjoy it and go in peace!

  • Ever paused at your reflection and taken a minute to think? Its what I picture when I hear this song.

  • imagine the paradise

  • I prefer the 15:35 minutes version. I think you should all seek it out. Great song.

  • While Dave may have said it's about shaving, all cutters can relate.

That's why this song is my anthem. c:

  • TWLOHA <3 great song...

  • @xocarlyhearts LOVE IS ON HER ARMS, MY FRIEND.

  • I'm totally gonna do a cover of this song! I love foo fighters.

  • you guys think it's all about cutting?!

dude, they're rockstars, what do rockstars do? not cut, they snort.

it's more likely that they're talking about lining coke, or hash.

    dumb.

    but, i could be wrong.

i don't give a shit honestly, i'm here for the music.

  • @TheMonkish well i thik he wouldnt emphasize the razor if he were talking about drugs, he would emphasize the drugs, and idk much about foo fighters but often times ppl who are very artistic lived very troubled lives and dave could very well have been a cutter when he was young who knows or maybe its from a friends point of view, not saying your wrong cuz everyone sees things different but i dont see how the drugs are more liekly considering the emphasis is on the razor

  • I used to sit outside of my older brother's room whenever he played this song, and I'd just close my eyes, drift off.

  • @HeldbyGravity My sister just uses to shout me "STOP IT WITH THAT SHIT!!" and I kick her.

  • please just listen to the song....i beg of you guys.....its just a song....lol

  • I'm not sure why, but this is my favorite Foo Fighters song. It used to be on the play-list that I listened to why falling to sleep...

  • @biebersexyhair Don't defend cutting. That's stupid. It's stupid. Get help and be able to joke about it.

I saw your channel. I get it. But get help.

  • @dukmunky I am getting help. Im not defending it, i think its awful, and i never want to do it, but people have reasons behind it. I am getting help, but i will never joke about it. You shouldn't either.

  • @dukmunky hahaha that kid has real problems

  • Comment removed

  • @xcait95x taking ourselves a little too seriously? just listen to the song man.

  • @dukmunky Fucking loser, nothing about this is funny. Cutting is not a joke. It is far from a joke. so just shove your comments right back up your ass. thank you very much.

  • Comment removed

  • @supermario678 wrong, sir (read: cutting the cheese). dont be an emo troll.

  • i listen to this song when i feel like i want to cut, its so soothing and it brings you over it

  • just love this song

  • Good to know I'm not the only one that shaves to this.

  • @dukmunky that was completely fucking stupid

    cutting isnt a joke, dude

  • @dukmunky

Not funny, asshole. Nothing about this is funny. You are a douchebag.

  • ohhh god... i love this

  • ahhhhhhhh so relaxing...

  • love this song so much

  • This song needs a repeat button .. fix that for me youtube :D

  • @mathildevos endless youtube . com dude...

  • People, It's only one guitar...played in Drop D

  • great song

  • ...personally, i think that "to write love on his arms" should make this their "theme song", of sorts.

  • Thinking about suicide. Duh.

  • Jossh Homme rulez.Dave's voice is really sad in this one.

  • this song is great, think of it everytime i shave... definitely.

  • Comment removed

  • this song is so exelent and relaxing

  • Heard this song on Catch And Release. :)

  • <3 love this

  • I dont know if he played the guitar here on the studio but I've watched him play it live just Dave and an acoustic guitar.

  • cuando dice "Day after day

    Cuttin' away

    Day after day

    But anyway

     casi lloro... u.u

  • When all is said and done, what's left is the fact that this song is a masterpiece, a true wonder in the realm of musicianship.

  • I dont see this at all liek an emo song i think the razzor is something that has been cutting away and bothering you and the song is about movign on and not elttign that thign hur tyou anymore.

  • good song

    sounds so

    emo.

  • this is the only foo fighters song i like because i can relate to it.

  • This song could be about shaving if it didn't say "we need to find a better place to hide". It is most likely about a "cutter's" odd relationship they have with, in this case a razor. Obsession over secrecy,The razor and the cutting itself becomes the most important idea in the persons mind, and flirtation with death.

  • the beauty of music is that it can be interpreted differently by everyone. To me this song is about a girl who a guy really cares about to the point where she can cause him pain, maybe they're not going steady yet and he wants to but she's unsure. It also happens to be the first WHOLE song I learned to play acoustically when it came out. and it fits my current situation perfectly.

  • He wrote this song so the fans that do have depression could relate to something that they feel. hes an amazing artist, and singer. i dont agree with the whole "emo" thing i think its a cry for attention and inflicting pain to yourself to subside an emotional hurt seems like your only gonna be hurting 2x as bad.

  • @MookDubs seems like it... but in a way it isn't :\ it makes it all real. I hate attention. I hated peoples faces when they found out. It's a selfish thing and painful but for a brief moment, it takes the pain away, which in that moment is all that matters.

I've come to learn there's so muc more to it than that. But at the time of it...there isn't.

  • wut i dont get is y would he write a song about a razor?????

other than that this song is awesome.

  • @41animallover yeah! why not write it about something normal like love?? what a retard

  • @41animallover you don't understand these lyrics, your an idiot.

  • i used to listen to this all the time... it made me feel better when i was going to cut....i stopped. i havent done it for 5 months now. My depression is getting better and now thanks to therapy, i have a positive outlook on life again....something i havent had for a long long time.

  • @JaszpeRcObbz

    Great job!

I know how hard it can be. Only by placing this comment you let the world know that you're doing really a lot better.

What I've learned over time, is that you grasp whatever makes you feel good and drop the rest.

Even when school becomes a part of the rest, because over time you'll be able to explain, because of learning and living on.

Keep up the good work, and keep working to make it better.

    All the best, x

  • @YouDaveyTube thanks so much, man.

  • @JaszpeRcObbz so glad you stopped :)

  • @JaszpeRcObbz wow! u were cutting yourself? y were u doing that???

  • @41animallover a lot of terrible things were happening to me all at once and i was depressed.

  • sounds really amazing. really love listening to this song.

if you don't wanna answer, then don't, but...can anyone tell me what is this song about?

  • @lllullulu If you look at the lyrics literally, it's about shaving. If you pay attention to the sad town that goes with the lyrics, it's about self harm. If you look at it metaphorically, it's about a relationship, the woman being the razor. It's all about how you want to interpret the song ;]

  • @JayTheRamblinMan sad tone* damn typos xD

  • This is a really good song. Its so great to find a band that actually sings nice.

  • one guitar guys--

    hammer on open strings

    -good technique,

    good innovation by Dave Grohl

  • @penguinfoot It's Josh Homme who recorded the guitar.

  • i Love this Betta freakin Crocker song!

  • For fuck's sake, Dave HIMSELF said it was about him shaving with his brand spankin' new razor. Knock it off you fools.

  • @KirkJimmy Just because Dave himself said, it was about him shaving with his "brand spankin' new razor". Doesn't mean there aren't any other interpretations. Some literary people argue that there are interpretations that the author themselves didn't intend to write and maybe it could be their subconscious playing a role when it comes to writing.

  • @geekyt4 Trust me mate, Dave Grohl is a simple man who writes songs with one thing in his mind at the time. He might have put some sort of subconscious message in his songs, but its highly doubftul. You can rip all his songs apart bit by bit to find some ellaborate meaning but at the end of the day he wrote the songs and he knows what he wrote them about. And if you told him yourself about your theory, he'd most likely laugh in your face and tell what I just have. Dont dig too deep mate :')

  • @Olie23231 I do understand that dave can have his interpretation of the song but literary theorist can decide to argue otherwise with proof how there could be another interpretation.

  • @geekyt4 Mate its not his interpretation, its his song! Dont dig too deep to find something that isnt there man, this is why so many people think most of dave's songs are about kurt when in fact the only one about him is Friend Of A Friend, just enjoy the music, people look into too much these days

  • well using the razor, some say "its better than throwin urself down a fleet of stairs or even jumpin off a balcony", these were the words said by a girl in the college i attend when approach about cuttin herself... we're all messed up,some more than others

  • so does this song mean that some of the band members cut themselves?

  • I never said they were about him, I said they were inspired by him.

  • The song, to Dave, is about Kurt. All of Disc 2 is about Kurt, basically.

  • @mikebrushedred hope you're kidding. The only song about Kurt on this album is friend of a friend...

  • @AsMhMoOt Actually, most of, if not all, of disk 2 was inspiried by Kurt's suicide. The songs, except for Friend of a Friend, are not about his death, but probrably would not have been written if he was still alive.

  • @TheHotshot102 All because the songs may be about something sad doesn't mean it's about Kurt. I mean that would make every downcast song Dave wrote about Kurt then lol.

  • sounds like he cuts but doesent want to die. ive heard this is a common for people who need to feel anything at all, but cant. i think this because he says " i hope I get the chance to say goodbye"

  • I think its about Kurt, in my opinion

  • Your all mad men. It's a mystifyingly beautiful peice of music, wether he's discussing hygeine habbits, his girl friend, death, or purple elephants. Like it. Don't question genius. :)

  • hmm, maybe its about suicide, then again not like dave has ever had to deal with the sudden death a great influence and close friend, naw it cant be about suicide...........

  • @juice027 maybe cause he was the drummer of nirvana so kurt cobbain was close to him

  • whatever it means, dave ghrol is an amazing song writer

  • About self-harm. Secret, pseudo-erotic relationship 'cutters' have with their blade.

A better place to hide ... the cuts.

It's also a daily flirtation with suicide, a holding pattern on the event horizon, each day a decision to stay or go ... but usually concluded with a 'but anyway' cop out - fear of 'the undiscovered country', which could be worse.

Obviously a parallel with relationships too.

Like the baba o'reilly speed up at the end.

  • it's about his relationship.

  • how bout the relationship is cutting away at him. shes the razor.

  • Why does he sing "Day after day

Cutting away" if it's about shaving and not self-harm then?

  • Metaphors, man

  • amazing. :]

  • @everyoneREADINGthis. Whats up guys?

  • @NoselfcontrolTV what's up??

  • hm the razor resembles their relationship.

  • i find it funny everyones disputing what its about.. does it really matter that much? everyones a little messed up on the inside, so just take it how you interperet it. its an amazing song so i dont really care what his motives are behind it... : )

  • Agreed

  • nicely put :D

  • @westsidestory8 I just love the guitar and the vocals are good

  • @westsidestory8: True that :) *10 thumbs up if I could* I have to listen to this song at least once a day.. Not to mention I wish I was better on guitar...

  • @westsidestory8 Nope, it doesn't matter to you, but i would like to know what Dave was trying to express with this music.

  • @westsidestory8

But Dave even said it's about shaving!!!

  • I find it ironic that there is an add for shaving razors on this page. Yet you guys can't figure out what this song is about.

  • You guys are retarded. Stop over thinking. Dave wrote it about shaving his face in the morning. A mans most intimate time with himself. Now re-read the lyrics.

  • hahaha you are so right.

  • Truer words have never been spoken.

  • this song is mentally deranged and scary

  • 2nd best FF song, after Everlong. it's about cutting. i'm not a cutter but I like how it's a beautiful song about something that's kinda fucked up

  • i'm not one either, but it gets me over things having to do with people i know that are. i love it

  • I really suck at playing this song. This song is so awesome. I still don`t think it`s about self harm though. I think it`s about a girl that he likes or something. Or it`s just about shaving. Foo Fighters don`t sing about wrist cutting...

  • maybe it means cutting drugs? "maybe this time, I hope I get the chance to say goodbye". Might symbolize pre-high....but, it's just a thought

  • I love this song ... it got me through tough times
