  • I have a Pontiac 455 HO in my 79 and she has a shit load of torque!

  • if you look behind the nose of a 1979 trans am, and a 1977 or 1978 trans am. the both have the same stuff behind it. stamped sheet metal with no air flow which is really stupid, and makes no sense. its funny becaused the 79 model is allways cheaper because of the endura nose. its the same car!! i just find it funny... i am a huge fan of the 2nd gen firebirds!! its just a little quirk.

  • 1980/81 firebirds looked good and handled well and had good braking. but were really slow!! they were slugs... 4.9L V6?? give me a break!!! the 305 liter V8 was a joke!! they were boat anchors!! good cars, lots of potential!! just insainly underpowered!!

  • the diffrence between a 77/78 trans am and the 79 was the nose. and the 1979 had four wheel disc brakes standard. thats about it... i owned a 1976 formula 400 s. and it wasnt any diffrent from the 1974 to 1975 model firebirds. the only diffrence was the reverse lights were in the bumper in the 76, and the 76 was the last year for the big firebirds.

  • even though the earlier trans ams had alot more power, the round head lights and front design looked weak to me, 1977,78 had the best looking front nose, 1979 to 81 the solid look was nice as well...what wasnt nice with these cars was the way power disappeard over the years ...Still looked nice, could take sharp turns with no problem, but a 6.6 litre engine making a 180 horse power by 1977 was a shame..not to mention adding an oldsmobile engine option in a pontiac

  • @beers2257 The low compression on the late models was the cause for poor performance. A head swap with these late models with a Pontiac 400 is all that is needed to wake these cars up. Some late 60's heads that will raise compression to around 9.5 are all that are needed. A bolt on deal except for an easy fabrication of an alternator bracket.

  • 79 Trans Am....69 Camaro....my top 2 fav hot rods!

  • drooool

  • i like both of those cars but i think that mustang is about to get its ass kicked

  • that mustang on the left looks like a honda civic, well all fox body mustangs do

  • hold the fucking camara still

  • too bad pontiac is going out of buisness

but the trans am still will be one my favorite cars

  • I never even got a chance to own one :(, not likely to either, Petrol is so damn expensive here now.

  • had my 79 TA since 81, dad bought it rofl--i just took it when i was 9.....o0

however 70-73s are awesome, dad had a 76 formula it was sharp --

minehas the step child motor 403--and its the greatest thing..wouldnt trade it for any 400-and i love them to lol

its never broke down-except for small things battery starter stuff

its in my garage now being striped and cleaned-54000 miles orig

simply put-they're all awesome--all of em--

  • I had one, these are the best looking TAs ever made and they were LOADED with features.

  • The 70-73 Transam was by far the best looking!!!!The 74-75 had ugly bumpers and then they got it right again with the 76.The 77-78 had ugly headlights and grill, the 79-81 had a really ugly nose that does not match the lines of the car!

  • 79-81 are the best ones, what the hell are you smokin

  • I personally like the 79-81 look too

  • My dad had one of these when I was a kid. To me, this model looks the best. The newer ones look skinnier and skinnier and definitely not worth the name Firebird or Trans-Am, just like what happened with Mustang. Luckily the fellas at Ford revived the old muscle car look and then it began...

Someday I hope to see a new Trans-Am with the same bold lines as this. Unfortunately there's always the risk they'll screw it up and then there's gonna be nothing to expect anymore :)

  • suck my balls the 77-81 models looked the best

  • have you ever seen a 76 front end?it looks much better!

  • To me, I think the 76 and 77 looked terribly ugly. I love the 79 -81 front end. It look more mean rather than having a funny bird look in the front (even though it was purposely meant to look that way being a fireBIRD.) But thats just my opinion. Anyways, nice car man.

  • I love the 78's..........

  • It isn't about what's on the outside anyhow... ;-)

  • Really...O my.....

  • ya, i think the 76 trans am was ugly..77-81 was badass

  • NO NO NO NO, and NO! The 77'78 version was awesome, but it didn't look agressive enough. The 76' looked too much like the second gen camaro, which I can't stand. In my opinion, the 79-81 models were the epitome of awesomeness for Trans Am. Being the proud owner of an '80 Indy Pace edition, I feel i'm at liberty to say that. The front end on the 79-81's is fucking awesome.

  • i second that!

  • i agree 1 million percent the 79 is my fav trans am, the recent 2000 trans am aint bad either they look and sound wicked. makes me proud even though i own a 06 silver grand prix but even in the prix there is some good power. PONTIAC FO LIFE

  • @SabbraCadabra they do look damned good, but they took away all the power int he later years! i love my 79 T/A but it's not the same without that 455

  • @SabbraCadabra nahh the 77-78 had a better look , more of pissed of look if ya ask me, the 79-81 has a look of a flat nosed shovel it was the transitional period of the car and it just looks weird , the profile of 77-78 looks mean

  • @remorodz I love them all, but yes 76 was supreme indeed.

  • were they bout to race?

  • Great car congrats

  • esta chido tu carro

  • Hey amigo,beautiful car!!!.
