The two base CHAS units faced a unknown bug type and they hesitated in order to identify and catalog the unknown threat which gave the infiltrator bug a chance to cut them down while they were in learning mode.

Well, the CHAS units didn't know about the imposter bugs, so it took them a minute to compute what they should do, and the bug shredded them in that few seconds of evaluating, and I'll have to get back to you on the marauders. (By the way, marauders are big supporting mechs that the MI use.

One thing about the CHAS's they didn't ever explain fully, yeah it has a learning computer, but so did the Terminator in 2, but his didn't get turned on till the gas station. What if the robots kept on guard duty at bases and ships didn't have that on/option? I'm sure just a straight combat robot would be cheaper and Higgins said the CHAS's weren't cost effective. And if it didn't have a learning adaptive program running, it wouldn't be to hard to outsmart it.

Terminator 2 has nothing to do with this. Data from Star Trek TNG has a learning computer too, but thats irrelevant. CHAS as far as we know just simply has a computer that can adapt based on the situation. The bug was faster then CHAS's ability to react.

lol. If the bugs went head on with the Tyranids, they'd lose before they could even send transports out. As one of the Warhammer 40k novels said: "Looking at a Tyranid swarm attack is like staring at a carpet with claws and teeth, plenty of 'em."

Tyranids are almost unstopppable, and they absorb DNA from the things they kill, so every bug kill would only swell their ranks even more. That's why the humans in 40k have such a hard time dealing with them.
