  • nice video -- but hard to watch in 640x480. Time for a new monitor?

  • @pureobscure I re-sized the video to that size as the original video in 1280x1024 was enormous, and uploading it was going to take me days with my limited bandwidth.

  • I'm trying to fruck up the business of can flipping, therefore, while mining the good stuff for yourself, jettison only regular cans with junk in them, such as 1 unit of Veldspar per can. You want rat flippers to open them to discover their shit. If enough people do this, can flippers can bet on flipping junk cans at some point. There really is only one solution: never jettison to feed the rats, but profits take more time.

  • good vid, helped me realize the combat probes i was using can't go as fine resolution as the regular yellow probes.

  • i use 5, 7 make alot dublicates and useles.

But the real pro scaner use 8 probes. 2xtargets x4probes.

  • will it fucking kill u to just minimize the chats and shit

  • How do you tell how many probes you need? You mention it is a 7 probe system... how do you tell.

  • @Remscar it's really a more the merrier situation for me anyhow. the more probes you can get a signal with the stronger that signal will be. I have heard that there is a max number of probes that can effectively scan an object, however it seems to be that the more probes you have out the better chance you have of getting one close enough to resolve the object you are scanning. Personally i use an 8 probe scanning system now that I have not yet documented.

  • @Remscar All that anyone needs is 4 probes for 3d triangulation, the person posting the video seems to think launching and resizing 7 probes is faster which I disagree with, if he tried to get the probes positioned properly he'd do much faster with 4.

  • wow, two shield extenders and 3 inertias, your signature must be pretty big^^

  • Thanks, helped me alot..

  • I just 7 probes also, but my method is much more efficient than this.

You only need one probe at max range to see every signature in the system.

For scanning cosmic signatures, 1 probe at 64 AU in the center, (combat probes can scan cosmic sigs too) another center probe at 2 au, and another at 4 au. 4 probes in each cardinal direction at 8au. This allows you to see everything in the system, and simply by moving your formation to center on your target, you will instantly get a better result.

  • Then, all you have to do is drop each probe down to its next lowwest range, 2 becomes 1, 4 becomes 2, 8 becomes 4, leave the 64AU probe as is.

Then just center them again and re scan. I can lock wormholes in no time.

When I'm looking for ships, I use the same method, except the 64au probe is set to 1au. Easiest way by far.

  • @inviktus1983 Yes, I too am now using a system with a static set and chasing with a small active set. although I use 8 probes for that now. I use a static cross of 5 probes then use the last three in diminishing sizes to pinpoint signatures. I will document it someday.

  • very nice, far better than 5 probes only

  • Hey there, i really liked this video, helped alot.

Just wanted to say, when i probe i move my ship back inside the bubble(rather than cloaking) for ship that do not have a cloak fitted this is the best way to keep your ship from harm.

Im not actually sure if moving your ship back inside the bubble effects the scanning, i have not found a problem with it.

Thought this tip might help pilots who do not have a cloaking device:)

    Ciao

  • I use 7 probes too....I wish CCP would remodel the helios like they did the scorpion...make a badass looking covert ops vessel...

  • jeez, sry about the double posts... something is not working right...

  • hey what are the things you have equipted to your low slots

  • @sage142111 Those are inertial stabilizers. they reduce your align time.

  • Your method seems slow and inefficient to me. I don't mean to sound harsh, I just think the minimalist approach with 4 overlapping probes is so much better and faster. There are two reasons for this; first, it's less work to move 4 probes than 7. Second, by keeping the 4 probes at a distance similar to their radius, you create a much larger volume where all 4 probes overlap. This results in fewer misses (spheres/rings) and also more precise hits, which mean you can narrow down the target faster.

  • @Azad69 Then don't use it. I don't really see the point of telling me how much you dislike this system of scanning unless you are just intent on trolling. As for how slow and inefficient it is, anyone that would like to compete against my personal scanning speeds is more than welcome to put their ISK where their mouth is. I live and die by my scan probes and I have yet to meet anyone that probulates faster than I do with this system.

  • @kermytdotcom has he challenged you yet or was he just a youtube troll?

  • @mastergsan just a troll. :P

  • @kermytdotcom Well, this is a while back, didn't see it before. No, I'm not trolling, I seriously believe you are mistaken. I notice in your video it takes almost 8 minutes to scan down a small signature. I just did a quick test, and from launching the probes till I had a BM took me 3 and a half minutes. And believe me, that was not an optimal run either, I had a couple of half-misses in the middle when scaling down x2.

  • @kermytdotcom Not a troll. I did a quick test, and in a less than optimal run I took 3 and a half minutes to do what you needed 8 minutes to do (got a ring and a sphere after x2 downscale, which happens sometimes). I realise you were also making a video at the time, but I'd take that challenge anytime.

  • @kermytdotcom Not a troll. I did a quick comparison test to your video, and it took me 3 and a half minutes. (And that was a less then optimal run, with a half-miss ring and a sphere after a x2 downscale). I'd take that challenge anytime.

  • I've got 6 probes for now and was not sure I was managing them most effectively and was worried what I would do with 7, this helps a lot, thanks.

  • well i was using 4 but 7 makes more sence

  • ok cool thx if you want look me up in eve name Afromike

  • hey thx for the tip im gunna try your way :)

  • @deathlords: cool I'm glad you like it. I might be remaking this soon as I have learned a couple of things about pulling very weak signatures that is not included in this video.
