This song doesn't separate itself truly one way or the other - truly Beck or truly Dylan. But that's whats nice. Kind of like two iconic voices from two different generations. The critics say Bright Eyes is the Dylan of our generation. I don't think he would do as good of a job as Beck at covering this song. And I'm pretty sure that Dylan would agree.

this song was just played at the end of the Oscars - pretty kool. yeah studio version has a lot of distortion and sounded amazing!!! i must have this song! i <3 beck & dylan
Yeah I find the WarChild version has a nice bang-up T-Rex flavor. It's a shame that when they played this song(the studio version from War Child 5-Heroes)in the closing segment of the Oscars they didn't even give Beck credit, obviously all the die-hards knew it was him, so many people were blown away by it, and didn't even know who it was! I keep hearing about people who loved "that song"...some of them hearing Beck for the first time! Thanks for posting this live segment!
agreed, Beck is such an original artist, you'd think he'd offer up a fresh take on the song. It's often said that everyone does Dylan better than Dylan, but Beck seems to have actually failed on that count.
Dylan asked Beck to cover it. wondering if Dylan heard Beck do this prior. i was an early fan of Beck but was hugely into Dylan before that(unlike indie types my age). so when i heard this i immediately felt that it stayed true to Beck, but had this connection to the entire Dylan era. which is pretty cool.
girls who can play guitar like that are way fuckin' hot

I love his version. I think bob should've picked him and the white stripes to do this song. They're good friends.

Compared to the original, lacks feeling, just routine blues, gives nothing new... But it's just my opinion, don't be offended if you like it.
