  • You can say I'm a dreamer , but i"m not the only one .. surrender and dance with the moon light Magic in the air tonight . The watcher of the skies will save you from a trick of the tail .

  • I like Genesis but I love Van Der Graaf Generator alot better for some reason.

  • @peoniesfleur - u r right , Van Der Gaaf was probably the most complex band of the 70"s in progressive rock and even thereafter Peter Hamill

  • Exactly 38 years ago from today, Genesis, in their prime and youth, gave this incredible performance to the world. And if not for this recording and the technological breakthrough leading to instant video-sharing, none of us would be able to enjoy this wonderful piece.

  • The #1 band I would have loved to have seen live and the #1 band I would love to see do a reunion tour.

  • pinnacle of music

  • 0:06...sexy!

  • Phil put in a good shift on this one.

  • Steve Harris, the bassist of Maiden, said Genesis was his biggest inspiration for his proggresive work.

  • @MaxPayneIzRudog fuck maiden

  • @MaxPayneIzRudog Why didn't Maiden ever cover Genesis...

  • @ChocolateHoneycomb A Maiden cover of The Knife would be EPIC

  • 3 millions views?!

    THERE IS STILL HOOOOOOOOOOPE! :'D

  • Imagine a good metal band remaking this song today.

  • It's only IMHO:

I am a fan of Genesis' early years, but I was really ahamed after watching this video. Gabriel does not sing at all and the band's sound is so raw. The are not a live band, they are only amazing in the studio.

  • @HammondDER That's some good sarcasm.

  • Amazing stuff from the 70's! Did punk actually let hell break loose?!?

If you just listen to the lyrics from'Gabriel',you would know!

Eat your heart out, metal-grunge-fans! This is what they call music...remember?

  • Magical Box, a Genesis Tribute band does EXCELLENT recreations of all of the Genesis repertoire. I recently saw their 'Lamb' tour. A. MAZE. ING. If you get a chance to see them...do it. It's the closest you'll get to the real deal.

  • @ThimbleNina The Musical Box?

  • hmz I am a sesy latin girl

  • TCHURUREBUS -simbolo das musicas boas

  • peter was so crazy........I LOVE him XD :awwyeah:

  • What went wrong with Phil Collins? He seems cool here.. hate his solo stuff, make me want to suicide.

  • I saw this guys live back in 1983. Just like their album seconds out.......It was awesome!

  • hmz Tell me your fantasies

  • I love this. <3

  • 219 people will become very familiar with The Knife when it's shoved up their asshole

  • @vixystar92

Hey- You were born when you were meant to be....I was born too late to see, for instance the Beatles, or

Glenn Miller, or Stravinsky. That was amazing music too.

But I'm happy as hell that more and more younger people are hearing (& seeing)

Genesis and other prog-rock. Was a fantastic time for creativity, and some truly timeless music

    was played.

  • ooohhh...I just watched a Justin Bieber vid...I nearly died...probably will...I've been a Genesis and Yes and ELP ...King Crimson fan since 78 ha ha ha and I nearly destroyed my everything ...I had to laugh tho... The comments were coming up so fast on Justin Biebers site I couldn't read my own silly comments...I used to be a session guitarist and I feel so tainted just by watching the Beeb...I could vomit!!! I made a comment about looking for tab for Beebers "Mistletoe" hahahaha...

  • naama kirja fuskaa

  • Actually third to use the flute. Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues was the first.

  • 218 people I guess like Illegal Alien better.

  • flute part is amazing

  • Gangsta party gangsta party gangsta party stove on my waist cook yo ass up gourmet

  • @killermoe300 I don't remember those lyrics being from this song -.^

  • second to use the flute after Ian Anderson

  • maneiro

  • Steve- amazing. one of the very few guitarist in those days who used finger tapping.

Rutherford- great bassist and had some pretty killer riffs.

Phill- very talented singer and drummer, and had some of the best 80's n 90's rock/soft hits.

Tony- not a whole lot to say about this guy except hes on the top ten list of greatest rock keyboardest!!

Peter-never cared for him other than gen

  • lool tell me the way you wann feel me, make me hot, and get hot with me

  • I think all Genesis is awesome, just varying degrees. I would stack Wind and Wuthering, and Trick of the Tail against anything done with Pete.

  • best creative phase of all times GENESIS with Peter...

  • search google for responsible technology and thumbs up this comment so other people as well can search google for responsibe technology also because in order change we need first learn not only what we need to change but how to change it.

  • bayonet mic? sick.

  • Best Genesis song along with Supper's Ready in my opinion!

  • i would have LOVED to see genesis live... WHY WAS I BORN TOO LATE?!!

  • @vixystar92 Dont worry about it. You can see whats available on You Tube and seek out the people who play good stuff now. If you see THEM now you wont be kicking yourself 30 years down the track. You can even have good times if they dont turn out to be that good, make the best of what you have.

The Lamb's lies down... (1974) parfaitement identique à l'original.

  • @caniche2066 J'ai entendu parler d'eux. sont-ils vraiment que c'est bon?

  • @vixystar92 Meh, welcome to the club.

  • @vixystar92 I saw Genesis live about 10 times in the early 70's. They were aweome and will always be my favourite band.

  • @jowi1954 that's right rub it in! lol only joking, i bet they were fantastic, i would giv anything to watch them, not just genesis but the golden five,

  • @vixystar92 Saw them three times, totally awesome.

  • @vixystar92 It was a better time to be alive. Absolutely. There was hope in the world. And real music.

  • Omg sind die auf Drogen?? o.O

  • And out of the madness

    came a bunch of blokes

just trying to get on with life

Jethro has a lot to answer for

  • Great glimpse of Genesis in the early, early days.

Some of the metal bands need to see this and learn, for Genesis did it way before they did.

  • what guitar pedal is used in this song on both guitars?

  • Greatest progressive rock band that ever lived, yes even above Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Camel and all the other greats

  • I love Genesis with peter and I still loved Genesis with Phil. People need to understand that they just were making music differently and experimenting with things. They still made great music with Phil as the singer and there's still some songs that sounded like prog

  • @MegaCrusher99 Saying "sounded like Prog" equals "Diet Prog". Sorry, but when I listen Prog I want to be saturated of Proglories.

  • New progressive rock coming out soon band type ''innerspaceband''

  • Yes ,Phil Collins is just a drummer!!

  • @victordaniamandi Not just a drummer, one of the best in rock history!

  • @Nero3335 Yes, he is one of the most musical drummers ever and one of the few, that achieved to make the drums an equal instrument along the others, instead of just being the "beat machine".

  • The dislikers are probably 80's Genesis fans who came here by mistake, when they heard this they were confused and went mad

  • SOME OF YOU ARE GOING TO DIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • eh, i could care less about videos with such crap audio.

  • I Pressed the dislike button. WHERE THE HELL IS THE BEGINNING PART? If your going to do it right, DO IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!

  • If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • jesus...so that's how genesis was shitty before gabriel went back to clouds.

  • the begining of the song is cut off....

  • whats the name of instrument on start of video ??

  • @Basketball7552

    That is Steve Hackett's guitar..

  • @Basketball7552 that instrument is called a tute winder. It was crafted in uzrach by the uzrachians. I know this because I play the tute winder.

  • @cimore000

    Wha...?

  • duke was my favorite album which is the one that got me into genesis

  • 210 тупорылых

  • Grandi.

Hanno provato a riproporli ( e qualcuno con successo, p.e. The Musical Box) ma loro rimangono I GRANDI!!!

  • genial!!! como siempre...

  • Great song, the first song of old genesis i heard was dancing with the moonlit knight that made me a fan at the moment. They change the mean of live music, the music, the lyrics the perfomance!!! Everything perfect, i love peter's costumes when i listen to this i can't believe i used to listen to jonas brothers, hannah montana and all that, i was really stupid, well i was a child now i can say my taste grew, for listen to other things i change completely, but it's a good change (: GENESIS !!! ♥

  • thumbs up if you came here looking for the scandinavian band The Knife

  • Can see were Marillion got Forgotten Sons from

  • Trespass was the best album for me . Never really got into the rest of them

  • @Phibes43 i'd say all there albums are unique in there sound but still fundamentally genesis buts thats opinion

  • There is nothing wrong with mentioning anyone in the same sentence as Genesis. Peter and the guys were doing this stuff before any other folks thought of it. So be glad they did.

  • Phil Collins, "selling england for a pound."

  • pete is the man!

  • Phil Collins was never cooler than he was here, playing that tiny kit, wearing that cool Genesis shirt, and blowing that whistle.

  • @telemarr1 haha, so true

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 Hahaha that`s right!

  • whats with the soccer whistle

  • @JordanVic87 actually you hear it alot from songs on the albums! guess phil wanted it that way!

  • Lots of different influences here, all good!

  • 4:50 - 5:47 spinal tap moment

  • Baby, baby, baby, Ohhhh!

  • @plasticPlaystation Please don't say that again, otherwise I'll have to fetch the Cosmic Lawn Mower.

  • who the fuck is phil collins...???...

  • @Bewohner2000 He never existed. FUCK HIM!

  • @Bewohner2000 i dunno.

  • Where is Phil Collins?

  • @loaisthe11 On the drums. God do people know anything these days?

  • @loaisthe11 Well, he played drums back then, bla bla bla, Now, I don't know.

  • @loaisthe11 : Phil is the drummer

  • @redkap1 Ok guys, now watch my cover of Behind the lines.

    ENJOY

    pino

  • 4:09 epic rock moment

  • I used to be so happy that I knew if Christianity proved true, even if I don't believe in Christianity, Peter Gabriel and I were somehow related.

Now I cringe: I'm too attracted to the man to see him as my very, very distant relative.

  • LOVE this! Die hard Gabriel fan from the 70s. Still a fan now.

I like Genesis too, but they were better before they got so commercial

  • Comment removed

  • Sinceramente? Vaya real mierda....

  • Patrimônio cultural da humanidade.

  • Ech...Peter Gabriel is better than Phill Colins at so many levels...

  • Is'nt it about time Genesis got an award for being so fucking brilliant?

  • Peter Gabriel is the Godfather of Prog and Rick Wakeman was the Grim Reaper. But the spirits of this music have passed onto other bodies like Grizzly Bear and UByK!

  • @kievthebaker i feel that fripp was the grim reaper. maybe just me.

  • @kievthebaker hahaha hell yeah

  • @kievthebaker And Jon Anderson is the soul!

  • @kievthebaker Tony Banks is the godfather of prog. All the music, all the mystery. It's his work. Not Peter. He just was a icon on stage but the music was Tonys and only Tonys.

  • @Thypaeon haha I love the hypocrisy in your comment...

  • @Mlajen you must me kiding supertramp is better than genesis imo

  • I wonder if Steve Hackett gets pissed when everyone credits Eddie Van Halen fpr the tapping technique...

  • I see there are 206 dislikes...... one of those was a girl I dumped who said she hated Genesis. You were a bitch then and you're a bitch now!

  • @mypalchester You sir, have just made my day!

  • @erret3tg4ew5 Thanks! I'm glad you liked my comment. I actually told her, "If you don't like Genesis, you don't like me." and it was over. What a bitch she was!

  • @mypalchester Made of win and awesome sauce...

  • Comment removed

  • @DiddyTheDuck2 Kathy? Is that you? The girl I dumped said the same thing!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @mypalchester you seriously dumped a girl because of that?

  • @miiwii93 Yep. She knew that Genesis was my favorite band (still is) and then tells me to "turn that crap off." It was over the second those words came out of her mouth.

  • @mypalchester lol. while i think its kinda silly to break up with a girl because of something like that, at least it was cool to see you showed her your fandom. they are a fantastic band. she could learn to like them.

  • @mypalchester LMFAOOOO

  • @mypalchester Good riddance! :)

  • @mypalchester Muhaha. You were right to dump her....

  • @mypalchester that´s becase she only knew Genesis with Phil Collins if she knew Genesis with Peter Gabriel she would´ve think different :)

  • @tweepixie Good point but I doubt it. She was a REO, Rolling Stones type gal. Although I sometimes like to listen to those 2 bands, they aren't even in the same league with Genesis especially with Gabriel. Bottom line is, don't EVER tell me to "turn that crap off" when I'm listening to Genesis. It truly is gonna be a bad day for you if you do. Right Kathy The Bitch?

  • @mypalchester Bit of an overreaction, don't cha think?

  • Super Lineup. <3

  • What a fucken sick guitar solo

  • @fireinthemmz There's only onnnnnnneeeeeee...Stevie Hacketttttt....

  • Phil Collins was way better off without those deadweights.

  • Hackett standing up!

  • . . . if there were gods of music, Tony Banks would be Zeus, he is Genesis.

  • fittingly....my first concert was GENESIS

  • l'album Foxtrot, une merveille, pas forcément de live un peu distendu!! Croyez moi,je suis une fan

  • Songs like this one send shivers down my spine... its like some tears want to come out. Being born in a fucking generation that does not apreaccite real music... fuck modern society media, This is the REAL ART. THIS IS HOW GOD TALKS !!!!
