Lately someone touched my lcd tv screen for the dumbest reason and I felt sort of annoyed but didnt even say anything..it was annoying because it was pointless to touch it.

hes like "WAIT WHATS THIS? WHATS THIS GUYS? WHAT IS THIS?" points to screen and then puts his finger on it, WHILE im saying "ughh its the Halo Reach icon" and while im telling him he still goes "what is this?"...was it necessary to touch the screen? (the sad part is, he always tries to do it lol, its ANNOYING).

@KyHo951 with this type of screen clean is to polish your monitor not "attempt to clean" it. Spray it on the cloth and keep your polishing as focused as possible to avoid overlapping into areas already completed.

I worked in an electrical store and used Monster to clean LCDs buy hey don't get rip you off and buy cleaners for all your other shit. I used Monster to clean the screens and the stands. Basically any glass surface and even plastic too and it worked great.

I have tried commercial screen cleaners and they have resulted in the screen becoming very streaky and worse than what it was originally.

I've found that a damp cloth does just as good a job as these overpriced solutions. Do a pass with that and then use a separate, dry microfibre cloth to touch up whatever is left over.

I just bought some glasses cleaner from The Sunglass Hut! (Do you have Sunglass Hut in the states?) They say you can use their cleaner on glasses, laptop screens, ipods etc... you can save yourself a ton of cash by just mixing rubbing alcohol 50/50 with distilled water then using a micro fiber cloth from walmart or costco or wherever.

and yes. good tip, David. always make sure the monitors (or your HDTV) are cold when you do this.

$5,000 for Cinema Displays? Wow, that's one hell of a mark up! You can buy a Mac Pro for that! Or do you live somewhere with a high conversion rate? The 30" Cinema Diplay is £1199 UK and $1799 US. Apple monitors are truely outstanding for their size and offer the best (at least the 30" one) colour representation and image quality on the market, dispite it being pretty old. There's rumours of a new 27" display coming out to replace it like seen on the new iMacs. Professional screens cost a lot.

Cleaning open LCD's are my hell </3 I'm a clean freak, but my monitor is smudged up because I can't get it clean.

And all of these rules for cleaning it are why I prefer glass covered monitors(Such as the iMac screen), and I'll always be getting those in the future </3

Cookware is a different deal.

When it comes to regular glass window or mirror type things, the right buffing technique can allow one to clean virtually any glass surface with just cloth. Not even water needed. Obviously water or Windex(etc) is useful though, and helps with the better, shinier clean.

Glass monitors specifically need an easier buff since there is lcd(or whatever) underneath. Regardless, it's simple for even a novice cleaner.

You can clean a monitor with Windex, as long as it's a CRT with a glass display.

they gave me a screen cleaning kit with my monitor but the dbags at best buy said i would have to PAY an environmental fee that is BS and they make you pay a 100 dollars extra for a computer just so the CAN delete the trial software which they don't do

I'd love 2 30" Cinema Displays, but then I do design work so more space = more productivity lol. Sadly my desk (or budget!) isn't big enough for them at the moment, but hopefully in time it (both!) will be haha. I know a few people who use a 30" Cinema Display with 2 20" ones vertically on either side. They fit perfectly. Got to love how Apple engineer them so precisely for such set ups.
