I remember in about 2002 (when I was 20) I drove about 4 hours in a blizzard to see Prism in a small town bar in Saskatchewan... when I got there I was told they sold out of tickets... so I stood out in the snow for about 20 minutes listening at the door till the bouncer let me in. The deal was you paid for the ticket and you get a free beer, as he let me in he handed me the beer and I told him he could keep it... I was only there for one thing to see Prism. It was a really good concert.
@wheelzwheela A real Canadian woulda shotgunned the beer and demanded another for having to wait 20 minutes out in the cold!!!! Kudos for the drive though!
I saw whats left of Prism in Powell River British Columbia.
I also bought a Prism Record from a second hand store that had a sun faded pick taped to it with brown cracked scotch tape. It fell off as soon as i touched it. But I still have the pick. I belive it`s from one of the original Prism Concerts..
prism , streetheart , kim mitchell , harlequin , toronto , rush , trooper , helix , frank soda , april wine , chilliwack , loverboy , the kings...you could go on all night long..the canadian music scene was a major player in my life..the late ron tabak and kenny shields of streetheart are my hereos..miss you ron..long may you entertain kenny
And Lindsay Mitchell and a few others said because he couldn't write the words or music he wasn't worthy. They were wrong. The band didn't make it without Ron Tabak, he was and his voice still is Prism. Just like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and many many others who don't write the words and music, their voices come through, no matter who's playing the instruments. I saw them in concert a couple of times, I'm glad I did. My kids and my grandkids have these songs on their iPods, on purpose.
As the band was preparing to record their next album in the summer of 1981, Tabak (lead singer) was fired. Various reasons cited were his conflicts with other band members, several run-ins with the law, lack of songwriting ability and his refusal to conduct interviews due to his stutter. Saw them live last year with Al Harlow as lead singer and they put on a great show!
Burnabybrent....just listen to the tune....we all know the bullshit....its the tunes that count...every band has the same crap but it isnt necessary to make it public. This tune is unreal
This song will never be forgotten! The only time it will be forgotten is when we take all of these classics to our graves. I already play these songs for my 3 year old son, he wil no doubt fall in love with all the "great" songs.
Nexus6...I'm 58 and ive seen em all from Issys to GassyJacks, Outlaws, The Cave, BodyShop, and Lassiters Den...etc
Best I ever saw was Headpins at the Gillnetter Pub in Ladner....This was when Brian MacLeod was alive. At first I thought I would leave...it was soo loud, but glad I stayed...Hard to explain now...but I went back every time they played there.
This Prism tune reminds me so much of the Vancouver scene back then. If you want to know more get Rocket Nortons book.
I grew up in Vancouver and loved all the local bands that "hit it big": Loverboy, Prism, Chilliwack, Adams, The Headpins, etc. On Christmas 1984 I received a brand new ghetto blaster from my folks--I was 12, I guess. That night I had it tuned to 99.3 C-FOX when I heard the news about Ron Tabak's death.
I grew up in Vancouver also and I too was a young Prism fan.
I'll never forget back in the summer of '84, I was selling ice cream in the PNE parade up Hastings street. Ron Tabak of Prism was in the parade on foot, waving (of course) and handing out Prism buttons. At one point as he passed by me, he gave me a little head shake and put a Prism button in the ice cream cooler I was walking around with. It likely meant nothing to him but I thought it was such a big deal at the time.
Ron is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Burnaby. I found his grave by looking at a photo of his tombstone on a Prism website and walking around the cemetary till I zeroed in on it.
ok but my point is this is not prism its the al harlow band playing prism songs its hardly the same thing,if you like al harlows band thats cool its juts not prism to me.have a fine weekend
I'll settle this.....Ron quit, they got Henry Small. Ron died, they got Darcy Deutch. Darcy quit, now Al the bass player sings lead. This AINT Prism. If Al was such a singer, why didnt he try lead vocals after any of the others quit or died ???? Yes, i'm afraid its Al pretending to be Prism !
oh thank you.. i'm not familiar with the group, still, thanks to that guy ron(r.i.p.)for that perfect voice on 'i dont want to want you anymore'. hope someone will soon post it here! tnx again, marlene!

Just came back from a visit to Ron Tabak's grave at Forest Lawn Cemetery here in Burnaby. The Prism CD cover with his photo is still there. I also smoked a joint and dedicated it to him - RIP Ron !!
F'n fantastic band.... great singer, fantastic raw guitar songs... great recordings... so sad the way Ron passed on... these guys helped provide the soundtrack to my teens... thanks to one and all in the band.....
Are these guys in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame?, because they should be. In the late 70's, early 80s they ruled Canadian airplay. I remember seeing them at Ontario Place and can still remember that great show till this day.
See Forever Eyes was always my favorite. God the teenage emotions that went with these songs feel like they could still be just under the surface when you hear them. Love Prism!
I do 463297325.Uriah Heep now that's an old school band that I have'nt listened to for awhile.Aldo Nova-Fantasy reached #25 on the pop rock charts.Remember Red Rider-Lunatic Fringe? There's an old memory for ya'.

One of the best Canadian groups i've seen in concert.Ron's voice was superb.RIP Ron,we miss you very much. You would have gonefar in todays music industry.
Yes, those days were great, bands like Prism, Heart, and Trooper doing the high school dances around the greater Vancouver area... early to mid 70's.... where has the time gone eh??
i agree, except all those bands you mentioned didn't start, or hit their fame until the mid to late 70's and early 80's. heart and prism both released their first albums in 74, and trooper even later if i recall.
The first time I heard Guns and Roses' 'Sweet Child of Mine' I thought I was listening to a Prism song I hadn't heard before. There is an amazing similarity between Ron Tabak's and Axl Rose's vocal styles.
I live a few blocks from Forest Lawn cemetery where Ron Tabak is buried in Burnaby B.C. Canada. Whenever I pass that place, I think of this video - great song - great band - RIP Ron !
Wow this is a great song. I missed out on the early 80's music before and I enjoy this so much now. I had a copy of Your Like The Wind on 45, its lost now. Hope more of their music videos appear in the future. Thanks so much
If Al is really your dad then he rocks! I saw him and the band this past Friday at the Bell Centre for Performing Arts out in Surrey and they put on a great show. The slide guitar solo was unbelievable and I didn't realize he was such an amazing musician. He is also a great song writer and his songs have stood the test of time and are much better than most of the crap that is on the radio today.
I think flyin home started it. Then I was hooked

The first time I heard Guns and Roses' 'Sweet Child of Mine' I thought I was listening to a Prism song I hadn't heard before. There is an amazing similarity between Ron Tabak's and Axl Rose's vocal styles.

I read once that Ron Tabak spoke with a stutter and that he was also painfully shy. RIP Ron - you make Canada proud !

One of the most memorable Canadian songs ever from the 80's. Prism, with Ron Tabac (RIP), was an iconic Canadian band.

they used to hang out at the Royal Towers in New West. They'd drink and shoot pool with anyone who'd ask. Really decent guys.More Canadian talent...

Allen Harlow is your dad??? I had such a crush on him 25 years ago.....
