  • Paulo...it's a conversation - a dialogue. One speaks while the other listens; then the first one listens while the other speaks; then the first one speaks again while the other listens again; and so on, and so on. Is that abstract? Check out "Thank you God for Prayer". It is the most concrete thing I know of. How do people tolerate this life without being in this conversation? From whence comes their help? Those who are engaged in this conversation need it.

  • too many words spoken...my friends prayer is believing in something that eyes have not yet seen and ears had not been heard...it is simply you believe in something up there to empower you, isn't it,? lets make this world a simple place to live...sometimes we are just showing what we've got, our knowledge experience and all that...but we're not aware that because of that to many explanations and that brainy thing deep understanding and all of that crap we are making things complicated...

  • A lot of good comments. I think prayers is self mediation. Tour talking to your soul and when you better yourself everything around you becomes better. But in order to change the world all needs to pray. All needs to talk to there soul And all needs to change self in order to make their surroundings better

  • Random thought: prayer is a moment when we stop whatever we're doing to be a bit closer to ourselves and be better aligned with what our spirit wants to be or to manifest. If we didn't get obscured by all of this reality's attempts to keep us busy with thoughts, needs, desires and fights, we would live in a constant prayer state, every breath would be a prayer, every movement would be a blessing, every step would be fulfillment and happiness.

  • you cannot change any condition around you, but you can change your self and then the world will change..prayer will change yourself to a better condition of peace, love, tranquility, and self control..so these good emotions will unintentionally spread through the whole society and the world

  • Pray to yourself. Your own beliefs will change the world.

  • thank u JESUS !!!

  • Prayer to me is a pathway to the greatness within all of us. I believe that the god we are all looking for is within our own breasts and that all we have to do is listen to the beating of our heart to understand that each and everyone of is an entity beyond comprehension. For that reason I believe that prayer is a bridge connecting us to the being muslims call Allah, christians call Jesus and nietzche called the uberman.

  • Shortly said, prayer helps me to focus in on the moment. Find the missing direction and guide me on my way. I can also put it another way. I notice when I don't pray on a regular basis, I become a wee bit scattered! I don't pray on my knees, though. I pray in powerful places, quiet places....on my own. It's a private issue for me.

  • When praying collectively to uplift the world (the water, earth, plants, animals, people, our air), I feel more energized too. When you were trying to set up a chat a few months ago with readers (but it crashed), I connected, waited for 30 minutes, and FELT so much love without a word spoken. Last year for my birthday, gave up something for someone I care about in Africa. Then, in December, rec'd a letter. It said 'J W would like to thank you for saving her life'.

    A prayer, answered. : )

  • con't: because inspite of bad news and the tradegy..the spirit of "bayanihan" is still alive.and people help each other coz I know this is God's way for us to unite as well.

  • con't: recently philiipines is under the state of calamity (until now) due to typhoon ketsana & parma.I know my fellow filipinos are now experiencing the biggest challenge but through prayers I know we can do it. we can pass through this challenge and it shows.

  • I do believe that prayer can move mountains. I believe its the most powerful weapon above all. I experienced this during the EDSA revolution during the 80's (see phillipine 's edsa revolution).people of edsa One showed that prayer is their shield against the weapons of the marcos's military. Beacuse of prayer we became a democratic country.

  • Man aught to always pray...God

  • At this point in my life I am not allign myself to a particular faith/ religion. For me, prayer is about personal/individual reflection, a private conversation...

I believe that prayer is an individual and collective experience, unique for each and every person and or group.

  • Prayer may help a person focus.

Other than that, it doesn't work. Never has, never will.

  • Definitivamente.

  • I think for everyone it should & does mean something different. It has negative associations but prayer to me means being quiet, reflecting(even if that seems an impossible thing to do at the time), calming, getting in touch with the inner light in all of us & it is positive when we take away the "marketing" aspect of what prayer is about?

  • I bounced my head against the wall until I learned what prayer can do. It is a calming frequency and I practice everyday. It changed my life. All things are connected and I cannot force my will on people. But I can change myself by giving myself to the higher will. It works even better when people pray together. It is a learning process and a heartopener.

It is a spiritual path. I need my payer.

  • I love this topic! Prayer is very important to me, and I am learning to be more specific. God answers all of my prayers : )

  • I believe prayer is a testament of religious faith and it can be compared to meditation in spiritual faith of any kind. It is a quiet and sometimes bombastic acknowledgment that we as human beings can not do "LIFE" alone.. So we surrender our burdens, fears, joys and doubts in the possession of a higher power who can carry us when we are too weak to walk..YES PRAYER WORKS!!

  • ...(sorry for the long post!! Cont...)

...The potential to effect the physical world as all vibrational energies do.The 'abstract' nature of the prayer itself I think doesn't matter so much as the energy/intention of love (or perhaps fear in some cases) that is sent out vibrationally with the prayer...Finally done. Phew! :o) Abby

  • ...(cont) to pray to give thanks/ for forgiveness, we aren't taught that we're effectively in a constant state of prayer as we go about our lives, so we may pray for world peace at night but be plagued in the day by recurring bitter/low vibrational thoughts, then the original 'positive' prayer must become 'outweighed' by our 'subconscious prayers' (if they're negative). Here we all struggle,But basically I think 'yes', the power of (especially communal)prayer has the potential to effect the world

  • Hi Paulo: I went to your booksigning (Witch of Portobello) in Manchester a couple of years ago.Although your promo team seemed stressed and the queue was long, at precisely 6pm u left the room to pray (not long after you came back the roof started leaking!).Do you feel this prayer ritual is beneficial to you?If so, then in theory it should be beneficial to all (at the level of one-ness).I worry that we (perhaps namely westerners) tend to be too wishy-washy with prayer, though. We r taught we have

  • Prayer is bringing your thoughts and wants that everyday people hide deep inside who are constantly thinking about it without knowing. It is simply the way of overcoming your fear of what others think and bringing it out to life which makes it easier for someone to comprehend and appreciate the though of prayer. Prayer can change the world as long as one is at peace with their heart

  • I believe that when we pray we change the vibrations of the planet. Being pure energy, our souls intuitively know how to connect with one another. This experience here is our opportunity to practice what Jesus came to tell us. That as the Son of God, he could perform miracles and as children of God we too could have the power to overcome our bonds. Prayer is when I speak. Meditation is when I listen. If I am only speaking, I cannot hear what God is saying to me.

  • Vibraciones Sanadoras!

  • Definietly. I mean, look at the alternatives. wat else could, and would people engage in?? war, complaining, war, destruction, discrimination, cynicism........

The more people engage in something that sends out POSITIVITY to the world, the better.

A little goodwill is better than none, provided it is pure at heart....... and does not see the man made boundaries imposed by religion, discrimination, etc.....

  • When you pray you connect your human part and your spiritual part with God . You request from him to show you what he wants from you. He will send you the signals that you will learn to read or catch when your faith is real accepting the God desires . When you pray with faith ( accpet God desires) you are in the procees to understand that spiritual and human roads become in one and you must learn how to leave in that way . ( Warrior of the light.

  • Prayer with intention followed by action makes people feel better. Does it work? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Maybe it just for relief of the heart.

  • Prayers along with appropriate action makes people feel better. Does work, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

  • yes ..prayer and affirmations do have power...wherever we direct our desires and thoughts, energy flows in that direction to work on manifesting an external reality according to the thought or desire

  • Change the world? I think we'd have to define change first. I mean, if you believe in prayer, you'd first have to know what you're praying for.

  • First of all: What is praying? repeating words as a parlor? or like St Paul says" pray according to whatever the spirit inspire you" ? when we pray we ask for a result to happen and we put all our mind and desires on it...we can generate a change if we believe we can.., and if we can join our minds together...we could achieve miracles... cause when we desire something with our heart the universe conspire with us... or not Mr Alchemist? Pray with your heart not with your tongue...believe...

  • I believe that Yes Prayer helps me to change for the better .. however trying to change what surround me ...

as well it gives a new perspective for the world i live in .. to look through my heart not from my original eyes ( as If Heart having its own eyes)

at least giving me the spiritual strength that will reflect directly to the strength of my own body ... :)

  • if you believe prayer has an impact on yourself/the world then it can change your perception on yourself/the world. i don't believe prayer can change this world, what is the purpose of praying? what makes a pray? is it only a disguised form of meditation or self-reflection?

    beijos!!

  • I dont think it works, but if someone else feels different, go for it.

  • Prayer for peace and harmony can help change the world. All people can concentrate their thoughts on the light and perfection of the Divine Good.

When we feel the connection with the Divine Good, when we have faith, we are strong.

When we are strong, we are filled with gratitude. When we are filled with gratitude, our prayers help bring more love and beauty in our world.

Our prayers are powerful and real. They can transform our lives. We pray for peace and harmony in every heart.

  • Hi I really agreed with you it is a connection with Divine Good. As more people send the frecuencies more help will come at his moment and time every Pray must be with Fith ( accept Gos desires for us .

  • i don't know how to pray..

still hoping i will know in a not too distant future
