  • And I have Only two

  • Nice collection. Any idea what red labels for cgc mean??

  • @xxedsexxx Modern (red) An outdated label used originally to distinguish modern comics (these books can be sent in for a New Holder service and receive a blue universal label at the same grade).

  • You have some nice books there.

  • I JUST won my fist cgc comic on ebay, a 9.4 JMS Thor 2nd printing issue 2. Im happy about it, I plan on getting more. Your collection is awesome, I hope to match it in a few...years :)

  • Let me get this straight..the only way you can get a book you own SS slabbed by the cgc is to have it signed at convention or comicon with a CGC witness? What if you have a book with certificate of authenticity? I have a book signed by 4 of its creators and have pictures to prove its been signed by them. anyway..your collection.. im jealous lol

  • what's a cgc graded comics and why is a normal comic 1 $ and the same CGC comic 50 $ on ebay?

  • @guzotak Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) is an independent member of the Certified Collectibles Group of companies. They are a third party organization who professionally grade the condition of collectibles for a fee so that an accurate measure of an item's after market value can be found. They sell for more because high grades (9.8) mean better condition and buyers know exactly what they are getting. The cases are unique, can't be resealed once open, and CGC are very accurate graders.

  • i was thinking about showing my comic book collection give me a star if you think its a good idea

  • What's a GCG graded comics?

  • you cant even get a fraction of the full value for your books, for comics to be gem mint, mint, or near mint, no autographs or writing is allowed on either the cover or interior pages.Your collection is worthless, stated by cgc grading system. not my rules, all that aside nice comics.

  • @mukkSkillz You sir, are misinformed. As with all collectibles, autographs are highly sought after, my ebay record alone has proven that much. In the eyes of collectors, signatures/sketches make the books more unique and desirable, provided you have the proper documentation which I do in the form of the yellow labels on the SS grades, and the original COA's for the greens. The only exception would be my Cap 113 (Steranko) which was personalized and not for sale

  • @mukkSkillz

    Thats sir, is pure bullshit.

Please ecxplain to me why my signed 9.8 Ultimate Spider-man #1 sold for nearly twice as much as the unsigned with the same grade?

  • wtf

  • are these movies and games???? i was looking for comic books

  • @Tonysparten apparently that's not all you're looking for...

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.... sweet

  • wow, very impressive collection you got there, ultimate spiderman 1has the green label, is that because the head sketch???

  • @hogy33 Thanks man. Yeah, Ultimate Spidey was signed and sketched before I submitted it. CGC is pretty strict with their Signature Series labels. Regardless of what type of documentation you have, you don't get one without a CGC employee witnessing the signature, which only makes me put more faith in the authenticity of those yellow labels. The "Qualified Grades" note exceptions that don't lessen the value, but don't authenticate, so keep your COA's when submitting books as proof that it's real

  • PGX is a needed buisness, or someone else. CGC should not be the ONLY company to slab. Notice how the prices have continued to rise!

    Nice video by the way..

  • CGC is a stain on the hobby of comic book collecting. We're not talking 2D baseball cards with a front and a back. You choke the life out of a comic sealing it up that way. It's really a pity that a CGC grade elevates the worth of a book so much in the minds of some people.

  • @joeblow166 I have reader copies of all of these books, plus most are variant covers and/or signed...I have no need to open them. While I see your point and agree that comics should be read, you really shouldn't be so narrow minded about it. I the value increases at all, it's only because the buyer knows EXACTLY what they are getting ( grade, print, sig authentication, unrestored, etc) and can always open it to read. CGC isn't a stain, it prevents people from getting ripped off.

  • @joeblow166

Hardly, with the realease of TBPs and other collection bindings the need for out of print single issues is becoming an almost collectors only club. Choking the life out of a comic? I think not, if I had a comic worth a small fortune you bet your ass im going to encapsulate it so nothing happens to it. I have no intention of reading my rare, highly sought after comics if I can go out and buy the trade for $19.99. If you dont like CGC then do buy any. It really is that simple.

  • What is your take on PGX?

  • It's not a high opinion. I have not heard many positive things about them, there is a video on here by Frocomb when he opens TMNT #1 that you should watch and read comments on. It's an eye opener. Also, their grades fluctuate and are not as widely trusted as CGC on the aftermarket. Personally, you get what you pay for, and I wouldn't trust them with anything I felt valuable enough to get graded.

  • @Animalvader1

Yeah, if you decide to encapsulate your comics, then go CGC.

  • does It cost money to send comics in to be grades?

  • @ripleysdude

Yes. Anywhere between $45-$100 after shipping fees.

  • HOLY crap thats a lot I thought just a couple dollars per comic

  • That's why you do it at a con. $15 a book, no shipping.

  • I just wanted to confirm. If you walk up to the CGC guys at a con, it will only cost $15 to grade a book. They return the book the same day? Thanks.

  • @Burco1 For a weekend long show, if you drop the books off at the booth Friday, they will be done and available for pick up Sat afternoon, or Sunday depending on how busy they are. Their customer service is great just call them and ask ahead of time, or ask the guys at the booth when you get there.

  • Avengers #4 is hands down the best in my opinion of your collection. It shall be mine someday...oh yes...It shall be mine! HAHA good collection!

  • I don't know, Avengers 4 (3.0) is definitely my favorite, but it's only a $200 book in that grade. Dark Tower sketch (9.8, signed, 1/100 variant), & Amazing Spidey 36 (9.8, double signed WTC/911 issue) have both sold for more than that on ebay, even after initial buzz. It depends on how you define "best" I guess. As a huge Cap and Avengers fan, #4 takes the cake for me, but others may not agree.

  • Hey, Avengers 4 in a 3.0 is still a classic book. I have Avengers 2 in a 3.0. It would be difficult to pay for for a grade higher than that.

  • Love the Avengers #4 , very nice! Great collection!

  • are you a store? My store has a CGC collection of about that size. The market is getting flooded on CGC books now so having a CGC graded comic, unless it's a really KEY issue doesn't mean as much as it used to.

  • Nope not a store. All of these were submitted by me from my own collection. I have more then a few keys here. I grade books for signature authentication at show and to protect some of my more rare books. I posted this for insurance documentation and bragging rights, I could care less about the market.

  • nice comics

  • what is cgc

  • basicly they rate you're comics up to 10 they will give it a 9.9 if it's good or something along those lines. but it's almost impossible to get a 10 because they have to take the comic out and put it in the case... which i'm sure lowers the value. (but i could be wrong.

  • Comics don't come bagged & boarded when new. Reason 10's are so rare is: only about 10% of comics leave the printer absolutely flawless, then they're packed and shipped to Diamond, who then repacks & sends them to the shop, they open the box and put them on the shelf, then you buy it. Awful lot of people handle these books before they get to CGC, making perfection very hard to find.

  • Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) is an independent member of the Certified Collectibles Group of companies. They are a third party organization who professionally grade the condition of collectibles for a fee so that an accurate measure of an item's after market value can be found. But for some people, like me, the cases and services they provide help to preserve and protect the more valuable books in my collection.

  • HOLY SHIT! even I dont have that many CGC's how long did it take you to get all of those?

  • Little over 3 years of dropping my books off at the CGC booth when I'd go to cons. Check out DJdeadkyDALEK he's got a lot more then me.

  • You almost spelt that right LOL

I'm a CGC nutcase. I have Uncanny X-men #95 in 9.4 coming in the mail from Florida - really sweet issue with high gloss for the cover colours. I'll have to make a new video when it comes in. Cost me almost $300

  • The only thing that worries me about grading is how do you then read the comic..

Granted, a lot of titles reprint the titles in book form (like the recent Buffy season 8 by Joss Whedon)

And maybe its better to read some titles in one sitting like that

But one shots and stuff like that.. you're gonna HAVE to read the comic. Not unless you scan it or something..

  • So get reprints, or don't grade them.

  • Awesome collection dude! People need to do this more often, cause youtube is infected with videos of manga collections or video game collections, but when it comes to comic books... its rare to find vids. I have a pretty good collection myself, mostly Uncanny X-Men though, but its a big one, think I have more than 300 rght now.

  • Thank you and I agree. I plan on posting more videos of my collection, both loose and future CGC as I get them. Nest will be my Variants & Keys video with over 100 books waiting to be graded. My near complete Avengers run will be up here too as soon as I find the time to post it.

  • Hey, I could use that 9.8 Ghost Rider that you have. Interested in a trade? I have a Daredevil #200 CGC 9.4 Signature Series signed by John Byrne. I don't like Signature Series, but I bought it because it's one of the best comic covers out there. Let me know if you're interested...

  • Thanks, but I don't know you well enough to trade over the internet. No offense. I'm really not interested in Daredevil 200 ether.

  • That's cool. I'm not really interested in my daredevil issue either!

  • very nice collection!!!!!!!!!!!!! like DJdeadlyDALEK said "It's always nice to see another collector put their issues up on youtube."

  • I should have another video up next week when I buy some more building supplies. I've got about 50 CGC's that don't have a home, so since I'm off for the holidays, I'm gonna try and get off my lazy ass and get that done. Cheers!

  • It's always nice to see another collector put their issues up on youtube. You need to create something tlike my wall so you can have them out on display all the time, unless you don't use that couch much! Your Platinum edition of Spidey number one is sweet - I had my eye on a 9.8 and I bid quite a bit on it, but my wife wouldn't let me go over $800 and it sold for $900 so I was SO CLOSE, but it's all good.

  • That's too bad dude, High grade Platinum Spidey's are really hard to find because of how they were distributed. Mine's a 9.0 and I was happy to get that! I've been looking into putting them on the wall. Still deciding if I want to use shelves or mount them individually with brackets.
