  • Dennis needs to visit Romney who believes government is only for those who can afford to run for office.

  • jajajaja sooo funny

  • Dennis is the 99%. Occupy Camelot!

  • @SuiterG594177 LOL, I had EXACTLY the same thought

  • My favorite scene in the whole movie. That is still the best. Strange women lying around in ponds distributing swords. Always funny. First there was history's or the literature's version of King Arthur and then there is Monty Python's version. I like Monty Python's version better.

  • 29 people got eaten by the killer bunny

  • I wonder what would happen now if everyone was like that in the 600s. One of the best British films ever.

  • @amSTELTH its the medieval period, like 13th century

  • @TheAjn0007 This seems like pre-Renassaince time to me, though.

  • @RocknForJesus King Arthur was supposedly a king in the 5th or 6th century.

  • We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune.

  • @RonaldoLancer do you realise the irony of what you just said. this is one of the most intellectual comedies of all time and you've simply repeated a line from it like we didn't hear it for ourselves. what was the purpose of that? please do tell................

  • @MarcPopeTV Obviously he found that line funny, when people take notice of a particular line they like they often parrot it, reproducing the humour a second time for everyone else.

tldr; your comment is just as pointless

  • @Moarphine; And yours isn't? As if I'm not just pissing into an ocean of piss with this comment as well...

However parroting the line here, for all of us to read while we watch the exact same clip is just a bit silly.

  • Come see the violence inherent in the system!

  • #occupycamelot

  • Brilliant.

  • Ironic how this scene is full of political rubbish, left-right you're all talking shit.

  • Wall Street Protests (Union Puppets) all over again.

  • Idiots like that are playing bongo's on wall street.

  • Huh- it's like watching the Republican debates.

  • @1976dbishop SO freaking true :D

  • This is the best part of the whole movie.

  • I often think this is what Noam Chomsky would be like in the middle ages.

  • Awesome! kings and Queens are just a bunch of freeloaders. They should get some real jobs like working at McDonalds or something. Abolish the monarchy!

  • @atheist382 almost there, i think we shud just abolish government altogether.

  • Comment removed

  • why do people keep writing quotes from the script? weird?!

  • -Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

    -Be quite!

-You can’t expect to wield supreme power just ‘cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

  • does anybody know where the music in the beginning is taken from?

  • @SunShinesBlack "Homeward Bound" by Jack Trombey from the album "Fourteen Pictorial Sketches for Orchestra No. 2" (DeWolfe Records DW/LP 3171). There's a copy for sale on eBay UK with a sound sample, but it sounds slightly different than what's used in the movie.

  • Fuck the Monarchy. I feel their dirty fingers up my ass and I don't care who gets married in their useless family living off our tax dollars. Fuck them.

  • if there's ever going to be any progress" "there is some lovely filth down ere"

  • One of montys best sketches from the film fantastic scene. It must have took ages to get this part spot on, brilliant.

  • Quite possibly the greatest three minutes of film ever assembled.

"Come and see the violence inherent in the system!"

    " . . . moistened bint . . . "

    LOL!

  • ‎"....some watery tart threw a sword at you"

I once had a watery tart throw a bottle of Jack Daniels at me. Does that give me supreme executive power over all of the drunkards?

  • @mikemat3307

    Was it full or empty?

  • It's so easy to forget Terry Jones is actually a man

  • I Should do this to a Walmart manager now. No joke Am not kidding this guy Treats everyone like shit.

  • yes i was the first to click lol on this video

  • I appreciate the CC.

  • "...just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me..."

I going to have to remember that one, they won't know what I'm saying, but, that's half the fun.

Negativity here...... why can't we get any original comedy these days, just a bunch of giant commercials..... comedy these days has lost it's character.

  • This is Michael Palin in his element....great!

  • @TheEgg185 must be way above it if you don't find this scene the least bit comical...why, you're precisely the kind of individual who probably doesn't even realize if he or she is or isn't being repressed.

  • lol "You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you."

  • i guess this humour is above my intelligence. i didnt find this comical at all...

  • @TheEgg185 Guess so....

  • @TheEgg185 I bet most topics in this movie were over you head. They used to lob diseased animals into a castle...not from. And if you can't get the bit about a serf bitching about an autocracy, I can't help you. Learn some history first and then you might understand it.

  • in my 36 years of anger and rik style anarchy (in that meaning ive done nowt) the ruling classes i.e money, will always piss on the small man, always have always will. get rid of money and gods and the future might stand a chance. we are a piss ant little breed on the small rock circum-venting a not to interesting star in a arm of not to interesting galaxy amongst billions, but some all seeing eye will save us. when our fire dies , to the rest of the cosmos nothing, we are nothing.

  • All government is the same. Government is only people providing services on a violent compulsory abusive basis. The rest of us provide our services on a non-compulsory voluntary basis in the free market. If government services are so valuable why don't these people provide them like everyone else does in the free market place without throwing you in a cage (jail) if you dont pay the "taxes"

  • @mustaffa1611 If you can come up with a way to provide policing, a fire department and a standing army without taxing the general poulation I would like to hear it. Whats that? Your house is on fire? 20 grand and I will be there next thursday. This is the world you want?

  • @ding333 Most fire departments around here are all voluntary and raise money through donations and charity events.... Those other services you mention - if they are so valuable why wouldnt people voluntarily pay for them like everything else we do like normal non-violent people in the free market? Do you really believe that some services should be compulsory and paid for by using threats and/or use of force?

  • @mustaffa1611 Ok so if a war starts we have a whip round to raise the money do we? If a tax is seen as unfair by the majority of people then it is removed but those that are fair must be enforced to make sure that everyone pays an equal share for their share of the public services. And as a matter of fact I do belive that having police should be compulsory. As should road mantinence and a fire department and any other service a modern society should not be without.

  • @ding333 Yeah, but why?

  • Do you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?

  • As an anarcho-syndicalist myself i really do love this scene! This along with Sir Robin's singing minstrels xD

  • I muse if this is some cryptic reply of Monty Python to that annoying stupidity this American coxcomb Mark Twain did write “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court” in which an American coxcomb is transferred back to the age of King Arthur and does style himself as some sort of spiritual leader, combating what the dull-brained American think to be the European Middle Ages; because the fool here is not Arthur but the peasant boring the audience with usual stupid left-wing phrases.

  • 26 people were being repressed...

  • Well i should present this in my politics class:D

  • I like that the "autonomous collective", the group that is free to rule themselves, gather filth from the ground for a living - a great comment on the fallacy of Utopian ideals.

  • yes...fuck the royal wedding...like they dont have enough money to pay for everything themselves....and they dont pay taxes either...disgusting!!!

  • Parody and satire is often inherently political. This is making an obvious political statement. People who cannot see that are fools at best

  • fuck the royal wedding!!!

  • @burn435353 Ha ha!

  • @burn435353 I know should´ve been me!!!

  • What movie is this?

  • All you idiots thinking this has anything to do with a government involving monarchy are just that, this is just a parody, nothing more. Words like Life Liberty Happiness and We the people really mean nothing all people are, for lack of a better word are idiots and will elect idiots to represent them in government and will continually do so, a modern monarch is superior in every way to a politician just appreciate the video for it being funny don't make a damn political statement, thankyou!

  • Without a doubt, the best definition of causes of Imperial Wars for the last 2000 years!!

  • 24 people have been repressed.

  • 24 people are being repressed!

  • Britons???

  • HELP, HELP! IM BEING REPRESSED!

  • favorite part of the entire movie.

"now we see the violence inherent in the system!"

  • Sarcastic, monopolistic, idiosyncratic, fallacious, pessimistic comedy.... my favorite.

  • @AgainstTheWind001 only the best kind, :p

  • thx for the subs, this accent is hardly to follow for me

  • I'm 37!

  • "Did you see him repressing me? You saw it didn't you?"

  • Oh, King, eh? Oh, very nice... And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers! By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society! If there's ever gonna be any progress in our society... We're livin' in a dictatorship! A self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working classes... We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to sort of act as a sort of executive officer for the week.

  • CAT POO HAS BEEN FOUND ON A DISTANT PLANET !!! the unbelievable truth is in the video spacecat 175

  • too strange ;D

  • whooou!!...I love montypython!!....

but...where can I get that music at the start of that video?!?!

  • best part of the movie

  • @bronxcouture Cool story, bro.

  • @bronxcouture If you can't even determine when and how to properly use a semi-colon, I don't think you're in much position to determine who is and is not fit to continue living.

  • @KeepDeltaMyDelta if you watch this video for pleasure, i indeed see you fit to correct every comment on youtube

  • @KeepDeltaMyDelta whoops i forgot to put a period at the end of my sentence.

  • "Dennis, there's some lovely filth down here!"

  • I want to vote this arthur to be president XD

  • even in the medieval british are funny

  • A mud digging lepper with an extensive knowledge of the systems of government of Old England..........you thinks of crap like this?? Classic!

  • Listen, Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a form of government . hahahh[=

  • @SuperRannRann Might make for a better approach than the one we follow now if one considers the fruits of the endeavor as guideline for success.

  • @SuperRannRann

    *system.

    ;)

  • help I'm being repressed

  • Lol now i know where all those Warcraft worker quotes came from.

  • Who're the Britons?

xD Bloody good response that is!

  • LOL. OH, GOD, THIS SCENE CRACKS ME UP EVERY TIME. :)

  • I watched Spamalot at the theatre yesterday it was so funny! I had to come watch loads of Monty Python clips now lol

  • This is intellectual comedy at its best. And no wonder when you've got Oxford grads in this comedic troupe. Brilliant!

  • "I am your king"

    "I didn't vote for you"

    LOL, Epic response!

  • ha anyone wanna cam and swap pictures then let me know

  • If you like a bit of academia, check out the Pythons' take on "International Philosophy"

  • Hehe, I still know most of the lines by heart. I probably watched it hundreds of times when I was a kid! : )

  • NI!

  • best scene

  • Did you see him repressing me?

  • BEST PART IN THE MOVIE, LOL

  • I memorized holy grail really well, i can recite it right now and have you ROTFLOL!

  • This is such a solid scene, history of democracy in 3 minutes. Why they didn't mention the brilliant thinker Noam Chomsky, big fan of Anacho-Syndicalism, me too.

  • LOL! Now this very funny!

  • Comment removed

  • " Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!" LOL...brilliant!

  • Damn even British comedy is more intelligent! Is there anything youguys can't do?? Love the English, and I'm a stinkin hamface American!

  • Watching this scene again after a couple of years in high school and World Studies classes makes it infinitely times funnier.

  • why the hell are they packing that filth up lol

  • @fullMetaLxMantis

    because theyre peasants

  • @PsychologicalFraud i know, but why? for a home of some sort? it just seems awfully random, nothing new though from monty python lol

  • Oh King, eh? Very nice. @PsychologicalFraud

  • Im learnin about the feudal society and manorial society in medieval history class. Makes this scene even better to understand it to its fullness.

  • Brilliant! "Help help, I am being repressed!". That movie is so full of awesome one-liners

  • ...and that is why Monty Python is misunderstood absolute genius.

  • -I AM YOUR KING!

-Well, I didn't vote for you.

    Love this movie. =]

  • Long live Anarcho-Syndicalism and Anarcho-Communism!!! !!!

  • Anarcho-syndicalism and Anarcho-communism are the best idealogies EVER!!! !!!

So yeah, fuck king arthur, but hes funny.

  • Anarcho-syndicalism and Anarcho-communism are the best idealogies EVER!!! !!!

  • Peasant: Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

    Arthus: Be quiet!

Peasant: You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just cause some watery tart threw a sword at you.

    Arthur: Shut up!

    lololol I love it! :P

  • Timeless!

  • BLOODY PEASANT!

  • Absolute genius.

  • check out danny lyer on youtube. a mockumentary of an east end actors day to day life, due for release on bbc3 later this year. DANNY LYER

  • @QuatFax I think it was intentionally ironic for the peasant to look a "buffoon." The Pythons clearly wanted to make a statement by having the filth-gathering peasant be an expert on forms of government. The working class political thinker here clearly show the ignorance of the few lords who wielded power over the masses. The film does in itself poke fun at the Arthurian Legends, this being just a sample of their tasteful distaste.

  • @NoTimeForComplacency Oh be quit. SHUT UP!

Long live Anarcho-Syndicalism and Anarcho-Communism, Anarchism progressing to Communism for our, FOR OUR FUTURE!!!

  • Alla engagerade människor provocerar.

Republican legislators are currently stonewalling a bill that would end corporal punishment in US schools, a practice legal in much of the country despite the fact that more than 3/4th of the population believes the practice should be dropped. An organization called TheHittingStopsHere provides a link on its homepage to a petition which could really use a little help.

  • Absolutely hilarious! Intelligent and funny. Jon Stewart owes a debt of thanks to the boys from the U.K.

  • They make him look like a bufoon, but he's right. Anarcho-syndicalism is the mandate of the future. We have to work for that kind of society.

  • can't wait to play The Sims: Medieval. this new in-game video really shines.

  • indians failed columbus invasion because they didn't have a flag.

  • haha it's good to put some intelligence in comedy...otherwise very few people would think

  • Hey all, we've just set up an OFFICIAL Rowan Atkinson live channel.

We think you'll find his satirical 'Amazing Jesus' sketch hilarious. So click on his name and search for Amazing Jesus, oh, and don't forget to subscribe as we are uploading new videos all the time!

    We hope you enjoy.

    The Rowan Atkinson Team

  • @rowanatkinson wait, wait wait no one gives a shit

  • So who lives in the Castle? who's king? I don't wanna shut up, just drink red cordial

  • rotfl....sooo epic! ANARCHOSYNDICALSM FTW!

  • has a watery tart thrown a sword atr you?

  • Now we know why the kings of old just lobbed off the heads of mouthy peasants, it was so much easier and more satisfying.

  • You cant expect to weild supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you!! XD

  • "Strange women lying in ponds, distibuting swords are no basis for a system of government." hahahahaha

    Best line in the movie!!!

  • love monty python! peasant starts ranting on all arthur can say is shut up

  • Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords LOL

  • The thing about this satire is that I never find it laugh out loud worthy, and I never really understand it for about a minute or two, but I still find it funny but its annoying because I dont know whether to laugh or do nothing

  • @xaxie1 Trallagh upon a sixpence and a pocketful of rye, ken?

  • Fuckin love this, Mike Church uses this on his radio show on Sirius!

  • Truth is stranger than fiction.

  • "well if i went around saying i was emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd throw me away."

  • hahaha....... King a,,Howd ya get that ? lol

  • Gawd i love this part... That dude was always one of my favorites....

"well we all are, we are all Britans" lol i love this shit...

  • Well, it had to be said. And it's a pretty short list of movies that will bring this topic up ... and fewer that can put it into general circulation with a classic comic meme..

  • So funny - this is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

  • "Well I didn't vote for ya"

  • Rise like Lions after slumber

    In unvanquishable number,

Shake your chains to earth like dew

Which in sleep had fallen on you-

Ye are many — they are few

  • Hahahaha this is total genius.. And it hits dead-on..

  • i hear this a lot in the morning on the mike church show

    hilarious

  • Very funny and very accurate. The ruling classes never like you to talk about their reasons for "authority" in a rational manner because it highlights how insane the idea is. "Divine Right of Kings"? What's all that about then? Seems a bit vague if you ask me. I mean, surely that would require some proof, like maybe a contract and not the utterance of verbal clap-trap backed up by thugs in uniforms who will imprison anyone that doesn't hand over their money when it is demanded of by rich people
