no you cant hit them ANY way you want...there are a few rules like contact to the head, elbowing, checking from behind, boarding and charging, and you can only hit them if they have the puck...but other than that they're fair game

There are different rules you can hit them from behind our you can go head to head and you are only aloud three strides coming right before you hit them or else they call charging but usually that penalties not called oh and you can hit them off there feet into the boards but that penalties not called much in the nhl either
