  • @ManlioGiordano Not a commercial release. That's defined as under Horowitz's contract or legacies thereof.

  • ホロヴィッツの舟歌、初めて聴きました。貴重な投稿、感謝します。

  • Thanks for posting this. Horowitz really nailed this piece. It's as if Chopin travelled through time to play for us.

With all due respect to the discussion, the studio recordings are treasured by me because I never got to see him in person.

  • One of my very favorites by Chopin, played by such a great and wonderful artist,

    this is amazing,

    thanks for sharing!^^

  • I loved hearing this!! - indeed if this what people heard in the audience... (and not the close-miking thing)... no wonder they cheered like that at the conclusion - only Horowitz brings this overwhelming sense of scale and drama to the piano. Thanks

    for this kasyapa!

  • PhilPhilUSA - you are welcome. i love what he does in this piece - especially in his later work, 1978-1980 or so. he proportions it just right. a good reply to those who think horowitz goes for the maximum loudness or drama or even contrast, mindlessly.

  • Exquisite playing! Thanks for posting :0)

  • you are truly welcome. i'll have some new horowitz non-commercial pieces to put up soon!

  • Again, why didn't Sony issue the Barcarolle on the '93 box set? Another missed opportunity! Perhaps one day Sony/BMG will completely research his entire catalog - including unissued gems - and logically sequence the recordings. (I'm not holding my breath...)

  • you do understand that this appears to be some kind of recording from the audience? this was not done by his record company of the time.

  • Absolutely. And in some ways I prefer it from the audience and the "not in-your-face" miked, as commercially issued in so many instances. (Still, I believe CBS was there at all of these concerts...)

  • i think it's infinitely preferably to close-miking, which is an actual distortion and has resulted in a perverse decadent art of playing to the close-up mic rather than to an audience - and now performers perform wrongly in giant halls like carnegie. projection gets lost, and all the dynamic levels are screwed up.

  • Vladimir Horowitz always played with musical magic. Thank you so much for letting us hear this.

  • you are truly welcome.

  • this person makes music!

  • from a deep source.

  • as much i hear him as much i get idicted by his voicing and singing.

  • what do you mean? :)

  • the sound of horowitz is unique! i am idicted to it...this i wanted to express

  • ah! i am in the same boat as you. i can't get enough, and really i want none other. (you should look through the rest of my channel.)

  • Thank you for posting.

    Grazie Maestro Volodya.
