No it occurs in vanilla games as well. Some mods can add in more random events but for the most part it's universal. For your second question, the upgrades should still be available. But why would you sell a weapon you've put money into upgrading? You'll never be fully reimbursed so you might as well just put it in a stash or storage box.

Sorry I totally misread your question. Yes if you upgrade a weapon, the upgrades are exclusive to that gun alone. If you sell it it should remain in it's upgraded form.You can continually pick up or purchase unmodded versions of the gun you've upgraded through out the game. Upgrades don't really cancel each other out, but you're only able to use one of two options from each upgrade category (trajectory, power, reliability etc)

In regards to everyone talking about Stalker 2, I would just like to say some sort of co-op would be nice, if not almost an MMO. I mean, why have factions of npcs when we could very well get on a huge server and have our own factions?

@vlkvojak Nah, Metro 2033 looks similar to STALKER from afar, but when you play it. You find it pretty hard to make similarities. Metro 2033 is good campaign game, whereas STALKER is a brilliant RPG style game that has a lot of freedom and exploration. Its a good game, and you should get it.

Im not too sure Coop would be the best idea; it might disperse the whole 'survival' and 'trust no-one' thing, although a big theme of STALKER is that everyone leans on each other.

Also, GSC announced due to the STALKER series selling 4 million copies worlwide, they, quote, "had no doubts left to start creating a new big game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe." Later they released info. Such as the name, details about the new engine, etc... Hope I helped. If you don't believe me, go to GSC's site. That's all the proof you need.

Consoles are the last thing on their mind and they won't orient themselfs on a console gameplay at all... so no linear bullshit with regenerating health, it's still the old good stalker but simply ported to consoles the way it will be for PC. (with worse graphics of course and cut-out controlls)
