The only ones that got extended editions released for home video were 1 & 2. However, ABC Family shows extended/alternate cuts of all the films when they show them. So if you're gonna watch the movies on TV... watch them on ABC Family.

are the deleted scenes on the 'Creating the World of Harry Potter' blu-rays the ones that abc show imbedded in the movies? i'm asking this not only for prisoner of azkaban and goblet of fire, but also for order of the phoenix and half-blood prince if you already have them... and those extended editions in the description, are these the abc ones (so the extra scenes in these should be the same as the ones in the documentary disc)? and are the blu-rays (and dvds) for ultimate 1-4 region free?

heck Potter4 could use a extended version: the first 10 min alone of the movie out now feels rushed.

i have noticed that most deleted scenes are scenes from the books, off course they would then work in the movies. and i hear there was 45 min deleted from Potter4?

when ever i watch Lord of the Rings again its always the extended versions, and so to be as close to the books as possible.

i may get the first two, but i am not sure about these two. even when P3 is one of my favorites.

im waiting til all the UEs are out. for 3 theres only 3 deleted scenes. and one of them wasnt even finished. 4 tho has a few good deleted scenes. they werent really essential to the story but they wudve been good had they been added to an extended version. i dont like the lack of new features either. 5 & 6 are coming in june and they dont have extended editions eithr. im really dissapointed bcuz i heard that the original cut of Phoenix was over 3hrs. i mite just wait til the super ultra edition

These ultimate editions are cool but not worth $39.99 each, especially when I can get the regular blu-ray versions for $9.99 each.

I am sure that these ultimate editions might be worth the price for some people, but I just wanted the movies nothing else.

@dancefreak2000 There is one feature that is on the Bluray but not the DVD. That is the Picture-in-Picture commentary for Goblet of Fire. I would get the Bluray if I were you though. HD is AMAZING! ^_^

The point isn't about adding 'depth' to the film, it's about making the fans happy and the fans want extended versions! Besides, what harm would it have done? would it 'take away' depth from the film? So why not?

@Ember121Scorpio Well said! Plus, the director of Goblet of Fire said that he had LOADS of extra scenes that he filmed; he just didn't put them in the film due to length. So we don't get THOSE unreleased scenes, plus not even the deleted scenes put back in... -_-;

@goldkirby Why call it an Ultimate version when u hold back on all the good stuff? What's it gonna cost them to add a bit more? This stuff is neat, but incomplete. Biggest film franchise in history and not even a 'real' extended ed. Hopefully, the next 2 will have more. No too upset; just disappointed. Maybe there'll be a kind of box set later on when everything is released. Something to the effect of an 'Ultimate Extravaganza 30th Anniversary Collector's Ed.' Isn't that what they do with DVDs?

@Ember121Scorpio The Ultimate Editions of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets is COMPLETE. It's all good and stuff, and the packaging is also EXCELLENT! For this two, they changed the packaging, and it sucks, but, I think the reason they removed the Extended Version is, well POA and GOF are really like.. PERFECT. Watch the Deleted Scenes videos of the two films and you may notice that the Deleted Scenes are not like, let's say NOT IMPORTANT. Like the scenes removed sucked. Get it? :)

Because I've been thinking about shipping them in from the US, but in the boxes of the first two ultimate editions I have (and they're from the Netherlands) there is also this like 3D card with the two character cards, and I don't see that in these boxes... Words cannot express the epic disappointment that is these "ultimate editions". I love all the HP films, with GOF being my favorite (also book-wise) and then WB pulls this crap move. Not to mention, there's even MORE cut footage not even on the DVD/BluRay (such as the waterfall scene).

I'm pretty sure the reason that there were no extended cuts of AZKABAN or GOBLET was because Alfonso Cauron and Mike Newell (the films respective directors) felt like their theatrical cuts were their final director's cuts and didn't feel the need of editing another version unlike Columbus' films. The same reason can attest as to why Curon & Newell didn't provide commentary. Many famous directors have publicy stated that they feel commentary tracks distract from the movie-going expeirence.

@chilitylerash they would still make the cuts nonetheless, and ABC personally made "their" extended cuts of films 3 and 4(with the scenes we saw on the dvd's) without the directors's consent, who of course were fine with the finished products. If WB can allow the extended cuts of ABC, then they should be able to make the "FINER LONGER EXTENDED CUT" of POA and GOF we've ALL been waiting for w/out directors's permission!!!!! :(

There will be Ultimate Editions for ALL of the films. Extended editions, though, we wont' know until David Yates, the director of the rest of the films, announces something. That news will probably be around the Deathly Hallows Part 2 release.
