ok ive heard this off a friend and wanted to try to make it(for a birthday party:P) , you are able to make vodka icecream, now ive never seen it and i just want to know is it possible and if anyones done it can you tell me how:P txs and if its not possible just ignore the idiot ie me:D
@alphaman87 At standard atmospheric pressure, oxygen freezes at 54.36 K (−218.79 °C, −361.82 °F). Those are the conditions under which oxygen is solid.
@NoSkaOnTheRadio Hey... not every substance has an solid state ;) , there is no solid Hydrogen , Helium, Oxigen and so on , thay can be gases or liquids , but not solid :) .....sorry for my english , corect me if im not right :)
@ShadowOfMyAngelDream You're not right. Look at my previous post for the conditions under which oxygen freezes (turns into a solid - that's what freezing means). Better yet, you could look it up somewhere, along with the temperatures and pressures at which helium and hydrogen freeze. The information is out there; start with Wikipedia.
@jwbullardxxiii Ah but that is only true at normal pressures, if you alter the pressure so does it's melting temperature change, and you can have solid helium :)
It's quite easy to put liquid nitrogen inside of styrofoam, in fact you can easily contain it in a styrofoam cup for a short duration. Try putting it in a clear plastic(disposable type) cup and watch it boil on the counter :)
Segovian is wrong anyway, such a dickhead, you can get liquid nitrogen machines from E-bay...
all you have to do is super-condense nitrogen until it becomes a liquid, then it cools on its own afterward, thats how AC works, but AC uses a different form of coolant

You can look it up yourself if you want.

vodka snowcone with some kind of flavour would be unreal
jewbjewb 3 years ago
Is that safe with the liquid nitrogen? You're ingesting that
conchrocks9 3 years ago
it is safe caz the liquid nitrogen boils off into nitrogen gas so there is none left in the frozen vodka
nead18 3 years ago 7
the atmosphere is 70% nitrogen, only reason its dangerous is because it is very cold.
platinum1987 3 years ago 2
Liquid nitrogen is used in some restaurants to prepare "cold" food

you breath it everyday

I wonder if that really was Vodka because from what i know alcohol doesnt freeze.
You didnt see them pour the liquid so it could have been water for all we know.

Every substance in the universe has a solid state. You obviously never took a physics class, or at least one involving thermodynamics.

@NoSkaOnTheRadio I believe helium doesn't have a solid state, at just fractions above absolute 0 it still acts as a superfluid.

@jwbullardxxiii
Wow. Wrong.
It freezes at 25 atmospheres of pressure @ 1.15K

It was first proven back in 1926.

i dont think it will freeze outside because you can put vodka in the freezer. but, at what temp does alcohol?
