  • ive just started collecting hornby trains, can any one give some advice on which models to get, plz reply

  • @megamixmovies1 Welcome to the hobby. It's more a case of what you like, rather than us telling you what to get. Depending on what era your modelling, will factor which models to go for.

  • the gner hst at the beginning is beaut im buying one in 2 months

  • @125GNER Great model :-)

  • @ay76 i have managed to buy one its a beautiful model should i say pair of models

  • Cool :-)

  • I can see why in so many head-on collisions between class 43 Valenta units, the opposing trains flipped because of the nose of the Valentas

  • @Amtrak1194 Many head-on collisions?? The HST's have a very good safety record, I can recall about only three major accident collisions over their 30 odd years in service so far. I'd think the nose on these would just crush in a head-on, & the loco flip just as much as what ever it'd hit would (god forbiding!!) The Valenta power plants are all just about replaced now. With only a couple of Grand Central set's still being valenta powered, but not for long as they are being re-engined.

  • @Amtrak1194 I have done some digging, and I cant find any incidents in which 2 class 43's have collided head on. And even then, as previously pointed out, the shape of the front is irrelevant when several hundred tonnes of train smash into it.

    You're chatting breeze mate..

  • what a waste of a good train its just siting there instead of looking cool on a big layout

  • They had another one out on their layout as well, so it was best of both worlds i guess. cheers.

  • hey u guys. will a bachmann train work with the hornbt dcc (on the same track as hornby trains)

  • Yes & vise versa. Cheers.

  • Yes, well worth buying. Cheers.

  • They do indeed look wonderful, the detailing makes them look much bigger than they actually are. I'm really impressed with how well Hornby have captured the headlights, the shape is absolutely spot on. Unfortunately as I don't have any scale length Mk3's at the moment, it would probably cost me about £350 to put a whole hst set together from scratch, so a tad steep!

  • I suppose you could get the power cars & then as & when buy the coaches bit by bit. That's how I've built up some of my trains.Great model though, will get a decoder fitted in mine soon.Cheers.

  • there was a model of 43105(my beast!!!) in GNER it comes with 43113 ive got both of them

  • Great stuff.They do look good.Cheers.

  • Great detailing!

  • They are really stunning. They even have working cab lights that really do show off the cab detail to it's best.Cheers.

  • nice vid mate it would be good to have all that! lol 5*

  • Many thanks, It would be great indeed :-) Cheers.

  • great vid 5 star im going to get the hst

  • It's a a stunning model.Just look in side when you open the cab door. The cab interior detail is something else!! Cheers.

  • cool video

  • Cheers & many thanks.

  • I see 43105 - a true beast !

  • Cool.

  • Nice sets, it would be nice if the HST had a coupling system on it! That would sell like hot dogs!!!

  • Kadee's or the emergency front end coupling? I think they have been designed so they'll run with many folks existing MK3 coaches. Cheers.
