Windows is a standard for third-party stuff. You want to download something that does anything and use it? YOU CAN. With linux you either start hacking code (and go illegal) or there is no fucking way. Code is NOT my hobby. I'm not wasting weeks to learn something the devs should know already.

I also hate how the GUI is a second thought (at most is cool), and only knowing console commands you do real stuff.

That's sad bro.

It has to be windows based because of the lag while recording and showing the effects. Hell a desktop running ubuntu 9.10 compiz fusion, only having a 1ghz processor and 512 MB's of ram can do those effects+ more at the same time, while recording, and not skip like that.

Face it, when a major gaming company takes off with OpenGL, linux will be the new gaming OS and windows non-open source ass can SUCK IT!

Yes they do. If you mean most WINDOWS applications don't work on Linux, no shit, because it's a different OS and doesn't natively run .exe files. It runs its own files and yes, obviously, it runs all of them and then even some Windows files. But can Windows run any Linux files? exactly. Plus Linux = open source and 100% free

I've used linux(ubuntu and linux mint). They were great but a lot of software that actually does some WORK doesn't have alternatives(working ones that is) for linux. For Example: for C++ there is nothing on linux quite as good as Visual studio.for image editing: theres gimp but it isn't as good as photoshop. Openoffice most of the time cant make presentations compatible with office(which is what most organizations use). Only if canonical marketed ubuntu better ,it could compete with windows.

@Zerorebels I agree. They do it too much. Also you know those desktop widgets Vista and 7 have? Back in 1989 when X windows (The Linux GUI base layer) was first written it supported widgets. Now look at this. People love porting things to windows and saying that it is original. They never give credit. I hope one day the government finds them to be a monopoly. You can't buy a consumer PC from a notable retailer without paying the Microsoft tax.
