What is especially surprising is that Happy is self-taught as both a vocalist and musician.

@1spiritualalchemy1 She's always been very upfront in interviews about the fact that she learned how to sing high by singing along with The Kick Inside and Never Forever (and Queen too). She isn't copying Kate though, her vocal cords are just like that. The more you hear her high voice the more it stops sounding like Kate and starts sounding like Happy's high voice. Every now and then though, here and there, it's uncanny.

I discovered Happy with this song a year and a half ago and she gave me goosepimples.

Her extraordinary voice, her lyrics, her songs and her so awesome sense of humour : she is a really talented woman. Her voice is a jewel.

I remember that at the first listening, I wasn't watching my screen and thought : "Oh my god, the mix between the two voices is magical !" and then, when my look went at the video, guess what I saw... This incredible girl !!!

This was recorded in Philadelphia for the Echoes Living Room Concert series in Spring 1995. I'm not sure whose living room it was. This version was being recorded at the same time and it appears on Happy's album called The Keep. It can be downloaded at wretchawry . com / happy / samples (take out the spaces).

I cam across Happy Rhodes because someonetouted her in a post on a cocteau twins message board,that mus have been in '98 when 'Many worlds...' came out. Otherwise I would never have discovered her for myself. I wonder how many other absolutely stunning artists are out there in obscurity. So, thanks go out to you and others who do advocacy for her, as I would really have missed out on something great if I had never had the opportunity of encountering her music.

If it weren't for Echoes*, I wouldn't have received their catalog, in which I first by fortune in the extreme of chance, saw "The Keep", my first H.R. music disc. I am so happily stunned only today to find out about her music videos here. It's now the closest to date for me at hearing, seeing her perform live. I hope to see the day. I tend to agree that Kate Bush sounds quite a lot like Happy Rhodes, & I trust she appreciates the compliment! Bravo! to you, Happy! Encore!

We were the same way, then we decided to do something about it because we have hours and hours of video. A lot of it is pretty useless as video (too dark is the biggest problem which plagues many of the videos) but good as audio. We tried to extract out some of the best and there might be more to come.
