Excellent, excellent choice. In terms of final battle music, this has always been obscured by Dancing Mad and One-Winged Angel. Now don't get me wrong, I love those other two, but I do think The Extreme is the best final battle Uematsu has created. It just sums up his genius perfectly. It has everything you wanna hear in a final battle music. I just can never get bored of it.

I hated FFVIII, but I do love this song. In fact, the soundtrack and a couple of the characters (I'm very fond of Edea and Ultimecia) are the only reason I thought FFVIII was worth keeping.

Hmm... Final Fantasy 8 starting off the top 3. And with a haunting calm song to top it off.

But this haunting delivery that slowly creeps up on you is indeed quite marking.

Still, third place, that's quite an achievement... Though it's eventual move into a more classic Final Fantasy music genre does give it higher scores, as such it's whole worth is rather hard to determine.

Dancing Mad is far too drawn out for me to enjoy, and yes... i'm tired of people asking me this, but i have heard the music for Final Fantasy 1-6...

I don't hate Dancing Mad, but compared to the other FF tracks already on here (the amount that there are already) it just did not make the cut.

Are you talking Kingdom Hearts 2? And if so, do you mean Showdown at Hollow Bastion? If so that's more of a cut-scene song as opposed to an actual battle track. If I remember right, that song is already on this list, number 39: The 13th Dilemma. Please correct me if I'm wrong on the track names.

The 1000 heartless battle theme isn't a cutscene song it plays when you fight 1000 heartless literally.

The Extreme is fricking amazing, but have you heard Eternal Sonata's final boss theme, The Revolutionary Etude Remix? Oh my god, it's a mindblowing technical masterpiece. I'd say that that song (Dubbed "Scrap Ourselves and Build Again") and the Extreme are two of the best boss themes.

Along with the beginning of every normal battle in FF 1-6 and 9 lol. But yes, it's a great homage to the classic FF games.... in such an amazingly epic piece of music.

I still say FF 8 is Nobuo's best work to-date.
