  • @JmaJeremy514 When I lived in France you could get cubes and sachets. If you look on Wiki you'll see the herbs you need to tie together or put in muslin bags.

    If you really want to try AUTHENTIC Steak n Kidney Pie, get out of London and go about 100 miles North to Birmingham. As A Brit I can tell you they taste a whole lot better in the Midlands. Londoners don't seem to get the taste quite right, but feel free to try both, and get back to me and let me know which you prefer.

  • I am from a Jamaican background(I was born in England) and I think the running down of English food is OTT! English food is lovely. Steak pie, fish and chips roasts. There is nothing wrong with British food.

  • @Cutchswife I am an American and I think American food is total crap. I never drink coffee like the rest of the Americans but I drink tea all the time like the British. I always eat british food. I just LOVE British food and stuff. THANK YOU BRITAIN!

  • @SCSAZM Yes, you can buy them in most supermarkets. In this day and age, because people are so busy, they rarely have time to make dishes like this themselves, but i they can, they should - as it is much healthier and tastier when it's home made.

  • Titli you have really surprised me, for the good I might add. I was fully expecting an Asian Indian screw up of English recipes, but you came through with all bells n whistles blazin. That was one of the best versions of good ol Steak n kidney Pud, I have seen in a very long time. Keep up the GREAT work. It really made my mouth water.

  • Nice video TitliNihaan. What would you use if you wanted a pie that is fully enclosed in pastry (i.e. so it's bottom is also pastry and it's fully enclosed like in the chip shops)? Are there any techniques needed for it to maybe stop the pastry at the bottom going all soggy?

  • @rofldinho I normally put the bottom pastry in the dish and then put it in the oven for 15min (this bakes it about halfway through) then I just add the filling and the top and bake until top is brown. the bottom will get a little soggy as the liquid will soak in but if you eat it while its hot it should still hold up well.

  • @Hakkar6993 Of course it does! That's the point - it's the same basic recipe for steak pie, steak & kidney pie, steak & mushroom pie, or steak and kidney pie with mushrooms. Just add kidneys and/or mushrooms as you wish.
