SO glad that Storm 2 won this. You gusy wouldn't believe the shit they got from the cunts who produce Robot Wars.
They easily easily should have won 7th wars however producers fucked them over numerous times. Even in this match they tryed fucking them over but the judges said that was enough and gave them the win.
I think this is slightly flawed. Technically, this would have been Supernova's victory, as they put themselves on the wall by the effect of their own weapon, which allows refbot to right it, but Storm II had been put there by Shunt. In addition, Supernova was as aggressive and more stylish and damaging, as Storm went into the CPZ at the end and did a grand total of nothing to Supernova. It was just a poor performance here compared to their other victories.
I think the sane thing, but here I though they didn't really deserve this victory. In reality, Storm was found to have its drive train broken at the end of the battle.
@cutthroatgentlemen not really, they had been had been immobilized for over 30 seconds, while storm should not have been attacked by shunt as it was not in the CPZ
Unfortunately, Razer wouldn't have won this World Championship =( I can't see it even getting a half chance to grab Storm 2. Don't get me wrong, I hate Storm 2 just because I don't find it interesting but can kinda see why some people do. But Razer simply wouldn't have a hope against them =(
@Framptonrules Razer would have defeated Storm 2, Razer has a 0 ground clearence at the front, and if you remember, Firestorm easily got underneath Storm 2 before its steel strip on the front got damaged, and Razer easily got underneath Firestorm even with the strip, and if Razer could grab a 40mph Drillzilla, it could easily grab a 25mph Storm 2.
@TH3MADDOG What do you mean? I doubt Chaos 2 would beat these robots. Remember what Tornado did to it in Extreme and 13 Black did to it in Extreme 2? Storm 2 and Supernova can dish out far more punishment than them. As for Razer, if it could get under Storm 2 and clamp it, it may have a chance, but Supernova would tear it apart.
@TheLegacyofHitchcock I agree with you on all of them, but I think Razer would have edge on Supernova despite that disc, due to the shape of Razers scoop and the fact that supernova has exposed wheels and a flat top.
And as soon as Supernova is on top of that scoop and itswheels aren't touching the ground, it'd be Razers fight :)
Storm II vs. Razer. Would be interensting. Although I think Storm II would win, slamming Razer into the arena side wall, immobilizing it. Storm II's ground clearance is lower than Razer's.
@2000SkullKid2000 it isnt, at the front Razer has a 0 ground clearance, and Razer is too well built to be immobilised from a slam, it was battered against the side wall against Tornado in series 6, but still came back to pick Tornado up with the "horn" it "grew" and put it in the pit, Razer should have won
Storm II may not be an original design, but it took the best parts from both Tornado and the U.S. bot Biohazard and made it faster and more powerful. Certainly not boring in my book and they certainly deserved this win. My only complaint with this team is that they never employed the lifting arm on it as much as i felt they should have, but it's a moot point based on their success.
@Tazzer88 you have to realize though that the lifting arm was a last minute addition to the robot due to a change in the rules that happened between series 6 and 7 which stated that all robots must have an active weapon, in the series 6 newblood tournament they did not have the lifting arm and said that their weapon was "a full body hammer"
Someone please explain to me the appeal of Storm II. No, really. Why does everyone seem to kiss their arses so much? Another dime-a-dozen box on wheels concept with a million horsepower that pushes robots. What the fuck is entertaining about that? Give me Supernova and Typhoon II any day of the freakin week. Actual entertaining robots that are well engineered and look awesome, over a cornflakes box with as many wheels as they can add & the engine off the Deathstar that ZOMG pushes robots!!1!
@TerminalCriticism because they show pushingpower never seen before, i agree that tornado can be boring, but storm can slam robotss into the wall with such power
@TerminalCriticism it's fair enough that you find storm 2 boring, but i think the fact it can repeatedly withstand the huge impact it puts on itself when it slams another robot into the wall says more about the engineering than entertainment value ever will. i'm not a huge fan of storm 2 myself but dismissing it as a cornflakes box on wheels just because you find it boring to watch is a bit ignorant.
Yet another pathetic attempt by Mentorn to fix a match vs Storm II, although apparantly this entire match was edited, and Supernova had actually won.... but they gave it Storm to "owe them" from series 7 final.
It wasn't Shunt's fault....the Storm team allowed him to stack Storm 2 because both they AND the House Robot drivers thought it had won. It was just for fun. But the producers ordered Supernova to be released.
Funny how they order the "exciting" Supernova, but don't say anything about knocking down the "boring" Storm 2. -_-
Now we know the truth about Storm 2's performance in Series 7, I wonder if the freeing of Supernova and Shunt stacking Storm 2 was ANOTHER attempt by the producers to prevent Storm 2 from winning.
It's clear the producers were yet again attempting to stop Storm 2 from winning but I think the judges gave the win to Storm because they felt they owed it to them after the travesty that was the series 7 grand final. They were deceived by the producers into believing Typhoon 2 had taken no damage when it was all but immobile at the end.
Actually, after investigation, it turns out that Shunt staking Storm 2 was just a bit of fun. Refbot's counter wasn't working, so the Storm 2 team and House Roboteers, believing the UK robot had won, decided to have a bit of fun, which meant Storm 2 was staked against the grinders. The team even allowed Shunt to do so.
However, the producers (sigh) decided Supernova wasn't immobilised and ordered it be freed, but said nothing about Storm. So....ultimately, it still makes you wonder.
It's stuff like this that makes me wonder if Robot Wars really did just die a natural death or if the producers dug the grave themselves. I heard that when Typhoon 2 were announced the winners of series 7 the booing from the audience was so loud they had to edit applause in later. I noticed there were almost no 'classic' robots from the previous wars returning for series 7. Did those teams just decide dealing with the dodgy rules wasn't worth it anymore?
I don't think we'll ever know. I doubt it had anything to do with the "classic" robots not showing up (I think Chaos 2, Hypno-Disc and Razer, amongst others, had simply retired), but I seriously would not be surprised if it was producer manipulation that finally injected the needle.
In my opinion, Robot Wars had been going really well that year, and I was surprised about its cancellation. But now I know the truth, I'm not anymore. Pity....that year had some of the best robots,
@FuzzyDaKirbyFan since i posted that i heard form david moulds the builder of the mini hypno-disc 360, he built it for the gadget show and sent a contract to the rose's to get permission to use the same designs as hypno-disc and apparently they want to get hypno-disc running again and take it to shows in the summer
@KillDozer123 I think maybe the reason for all the new robots is the producers wanting more new robots to make everytrhing more exciting. Also, I see what Fireworkatheart means; it did seem like they're against Storm II.
Where was Chaos 2 and Razer. Where the hell was Typhoon in this World Championship??? Storm 2 is better than Tornado but its still a boring box. I like Supernova Better.
So you'd prefer the UK to lose the World Championship then? I agree with you that Storm 2's better than Tornado but Storm 2 also has a lifter as well as that pushing power. But remember what that pushing power did to the Steel Avenger in Series 7? Got them out of the arena without flipping them.
I would have liked to see Supernova win. Have a different country win instead of the UK all the time. Besides, it's Sri Lanka. They lost a lot of homes in the 2004 tsunami.
I'm glad Storm 2 won this. It was already bad enough that Razer wasn't there to defend the title when they said the would. After 3 World Championships UK has been the most dominant country of them all in terms of roboteering.
@mustiesalop123 i don't think it would have, i love razer, he was my all time favourite, but i think storm 2 armor was to thick for razer to pierce it and storm has so much pushing power i think storm 2 would win :/
possibly, razer easily beat tornado without the frame, however storm 2 is alot quicker than tornado and has lower ground clearance and thicker armour. If storm 2 managed to flip razer with its lifter, razer could be in a alot of trouble. Had typhoon not withdrawn, I think they would have been capable of beating razer as it's shape would make it difficult for razer to get hold of.
@Bobmunton1994 that would be a good battle for razer storm 2 if razer lost I wouldn't mind because storm 2 is a worthy competitor not like tornado's little frame thing
Yeah i really wanted Supernova to win iam originally from Sri-Lanka so this would have been ecstatic if they won and for the country just unlucky they lost oh well nevermind. Supernova is a brilliant robot to represent our country.
I think that Storm would simply go straight on Razer's wedge thing and get caught, with it's wheels not touching the ground. Either way it'd be cool to see
Think about it, Ian Lewis is a very good driver and at some point in that match Storm II would be on Razer's scoop. While this is going on Storm would have no wheels on the floor, no traction to put the power to good use and Razer could simply pit Storm, I don't think even Razer could damage the armour on Storm so that would be the only option.
there is a petition to bring robot wars back actually but if you know roaming robots then no need to bring robot wars back because roaming robots is robot wars
Hmm, that was interesting. Supernova was really only pinned by it's own weapon accidentally snagging the floor, but Refbot isn't supposed to free robots unless they're pinned solely by the House Robots (which constitutes unreasonable interference). While Storm II WAS pinned solely by Shunt. I think it's best to say that it was just a pretty disappointing fight after the incident, decided by an accident, but decided correctly.
One of the purposes of the Refbot is to help push robots off the wall who get stuck. Why Storm II was put onto the wall and left there is also beyond me. I'm not sure if the judges decision was correct here, so much has been edited out, but so much is completely wonky too : /
Battlebot robots are too heavy for the UK heavyweight catorgary. And I might be right in thinking certain robots are contracted to etiher US or Uk versions of robot wars (but I may be wrong there)
I'm amazed by how maneuverable Supernova is for a machine that only has 2 wheels...in the back. I think they did very well to make it this far, methinks.
Supernova was stuck on the arena wall and since stacking moves are illegal, Refbot did the right thing pushing him off and letting the fight continue. The judges just wanted Britain to win...AGAIN
It's great that Storm II won, but jeez, are the judges friggin racist?
your right, Supernova drove onto the scoop of Storm II. The spinning disc over balanced it and the sure speed of Supernova drove it onto the wall and got stuck
Cheers for uploading this. Good to see Storm II win something after the Series 7 Final travesty, shame Razer didn't come back to compete in this one, some of the robots in the earlier rounds were shocking. Typhoon could have done some damage as well.
supernova was better bad choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anduril38 2 years ago
Think about it, Ian Lewis is a very good driver and at some point in that match Storm II would be on Razer's scoop. While this is going on Storm would have no wheels on the floor, no traction to put the power to good use and Razer could simply pit Storm, I don't think even Razer could damage the armour on Storm so that would be the only option.
joerlz12 2 years ago
Storm 2 would win.

The UK 3x Robot Wars World Champions
eurovisionuk2008 3 years ago
Hmm, that was interesting. Supernova was really only pinned by it's own weapon accidentally snagging the floor, but Refbot isn't supposed to free robots unless they're pinned solely by the House Robots (which constitutes unreasonable interference). While Storm II WAS pinned solely by Shunt. I think it's best to say that it was just a pretty disappointing fight after the incident, decided by an accident, but decided correctly.

The house robot rebellion wasnt the last battle to be shown on t.v but it was actually the last one fought in the erana

I would say typhoon 2.
weaanr 3 years ago
i would, the 7th series grand final was brillant, typhoon is just TO destructive, it broke the arena twice
eljaco88 3 years ago
I do love Supernova, but their driving is too often questionable.
ochayedonald 2 years ago 2
Good luck at Robogames, Storm II! Typhoon won the Silver last time, let's see you win the Gold!

Britain: Two World Wars, One World Cup, Three Robot Wars World Championships and One Robogames Silver Medal (^_^)

Hmm.
One of the purposes of the Refbot is to help push robots off the wall who get stuck. Why Storm II was put onto the wall and left there is also beyond me. I'm not sure if the judges decision was correct here, so much has been edited out, but so much is completely wonky too : /

Supernova was fucking awesome.

DuellyO 4 years ago
no, there's also Mr. Psycho, Growler and cassius chrome
Headbanger14 3 years ago 2
If Supernova was inmobilised, why on earth would the Refbot knock them to late of the side wall. I really don't like the judges
Mechavrore 4 years ago 3
Apparantly, his counter had broken, so he couldn't.
christophermason 4 years ago

Very long wait between fights. More stopping and starting during fights than you'd think too.

Brilliant experience. It's much louder than you'd think. Waiting between fights is long, but worth it!

Y did no battle Bots robots enter for the US instead of the pices of crap like sparticus?
danielpullen 4 years ago
Battlebot robots are too heavy for the UK heavyweight catorgary. And I might be right in thinking certain robots are contracted to etiher US or Uk versions of robot wars (but I may be wrong there)
ochayedonald 2 years ago 2
Both limits are the same 100 kilos is 220 pounds.
Headbanger142 2 years ago
good stuff. The judges should have just restarted the fight, they've done it before. The last we ever saw of Robot Wars :'(

I'm amazed by how maneuverable Supernova is for a machine that only has 2 wheels...in the back. I think they did very well to make it this far, methinks.

the very last battle of robot wars
besides shunt had no reason to attack storm 2 and world champion is much better than the uk chapionship
Isle0fRed 4 years ago
Supernova was stuck on the arena wall and since stacking moves are illegal, Refbot did the right thing pushing him off and letting the fight continue. The judges just wanted Britain to win...AGAIN
It's great that Storm II won, but jeez, are the judges friggin racist?
Headbanger14 4 years ago
Stacking moves ARE illegal, but Storm 2 didn't stack Supernova. Supernova stacked itself. And to what I understand, that's not the same thing.
christophermason 4 years ago
your right, Supernova drove onto the scoop of Storm II. The spinning disc over balanced it and the sure speed of Supernova drove it onto the wall and got stuck
ALJ123456 4 years ago
Cheers for uploading this. Good to see Storm II win something after the Series 7 Final travesty, shame Razer didn't come back to compete in this one, some of the robots in the earlier rounds were shocking. Typhoon could have done some damage as well.
