ha, the commentator was so confident that Nadal would win at the end of the first set, but then Simon came in and wham! he won, ahhhhhhhhhh, best dude ever.
This is probably the best match Gilles Simon played in his career to beat Nadal who was playing well and Nadal at the time was also world number one. The key that Gilles Simon used a lot that actually annoyed Nadal was the "Serve and Volley".
I seriously rate this with Wimbledon 08 Final, Aus Open 09 Final and Fed-Safin Aus Open Semi-Final 05 as one of the best matches I've ever seen. This match turned me into a Simon fan. That down the line forehand was simply unreal!
this is one of the best matches i've ever seen.. both players played very well, very few unforced errors all exciting action-packed tennis...i've never seen nadal work hard on a match, this is nadal in his best..simon is incredible in this match, that forehand produces amazing shots leaving you in awe...great,great match this one..
Nadal won on this indoor hardcourt at TMS Madrid 2005, guess you didn't know. Since Madrid replaced Hamburg during clay season, since Hamburg is no longer popular and was downgraded. The Oct slot give to Shanghai at the end of the Asian swing, to capitalize opportunity of a big Asian market since China is very into tennis now after hosting TMC for last few years.
I do appreciate Nadal's humble attitude and his hard work. I just prefer players who play more offensively and don't rely on their biceps to win long, monotonous baseline rallies. I prefer the elegance and style of Fed and Djokovic to what seems like numbingly boring ball bashing.
nadal didn't even try his 100%, he knew he had to save up for australian open so pros like him take it a little easier on titles until the real slam comes
I LOVE SIMON He's great. I love his shot selection. sometimes slow and high and then suddenly he slaps it very flat. Point beginning at 5:40! amazing lob from Simon. great match
if you really like watching fast serve and volleys (which is strange for me),then i can understand that you don't like nadal's game but at least give some appreciation for God's sake.the guy has worked his ass off.
and sometimes i'm just wondering if I'm the only one who prefers Rafa's tennis to Roger's.

How boring is this type of tennis compared to Roger's tennis (fast serve, volley, monster forehand) against Fererro in Madrid 2003 semi-final you uploaded. I can't bear Nadal anymore.
simon is probably of the few guy´s on tour, that will get into long baseline rallies, with rafa, no problem.

They should hire the commentator for Heineken commercials, he says "brilliant" way too much.

Don't worry you guys, Simon will come back, I can feel it in my bones. Though, that knee injury really did a number on him

why did nadal sliced at 2:11? He could've use his backhand for a passing winner and take the first set.

it's a style of play that requires a lot of heart and hard work on and off the court which some people (like you) will never appreciate.
ozonese7en 3 years ago 2
exactly. roger is great but you gotta appreciate everything that nadal has given to slowly and painstakingly climb to number 1.
