Yeah, great video. But it's not recommended to install IpCop on virtual machine (especially vmware). Add-ons like Traffic Control and Report Service not works properly. So take care, guys.
Virtual boxen like VMware do perfect for testing moments - but for true implementation a P-3 does fine and they are cheap - and if you compare to modern systems, use less power/hour. Advantage: they can go 24/7 for long term experiment and testing.
I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if you can use some old Pentium 3 you bought off Ebay for IPCop? Yes. That would be MUCH more powerful than IPCop requires.
if you want to use the ipcop as a productive system - never run it in a VMwae or other type of Virtual environment. - it will brake the basic concept of security -hence render it useless
@herauthon He is using it as NAT for his MSVPC07 VMs not as a firewall for his physical network. I have no idea why this is necessary or why he is using MSVPC, but uhh ya.... VirtualBox FTW.
Exactly. Thank you. I always want a more realistic environment for practice. I can't afford a closet full of servers, but there is no reason why I can't have multiple networks. IPCop is a great low power resource and doesn't take a lot of resources away from my other virtual machines.
I find it funny you're using a linux distro on a Microsoft virtualization software.

@emersonburris69 Yes, 1.) usually that doesn't work very well and 2.) What's the point of doing something simple?

Why is it that at the start of all of your videos you sound completely different, but as the video progresses you sound more and more like you?

@dsidewd It's me just trying to fight my accent. I should just learn to embrace the twang.

@scania1994 VMWare does not format your HDD. If you give the VMWare machine a 20 GB HDD, then it takes 20 GB of your HDD instantly.
