Over 11 years of working as an ELT facilitator, I realized not all methods are for everyone. The trend reads you have to perform a needs analysis to truly aim them in the best way possible. However, as there are learners who won't respond to traditional and orthodox approaches, I guess anything is valid. What may not be valid is that this guy advertises it as a normal and acceptable -better- method. I'd still need more proof of its advantages.
Actually this is quite a good way to learn a language. As a language teacher of French and Spanish I have found that books are best used only as a resource and not as a bible. Language is learned by toddlers without the use of books in the same way, long before they learn to read or write. They listen and imitate and comprehend along the way. And here he is overcoming a big obstacle for some in learning languages and that is embarrasment at speaking out loud. Kudos!
This method is quite interesting, and probably effective. I am a native English speaker, and have been teaching English as a second language for over seven years. I would like to post a warning to students from China. Many online English schools are ineffective. They are only interested in your money. Classes are crowded, and company ethics are terrible. They are only interested in taking your money. Be very, very careful when choosing an online school.
These people are to be commended...they are studying in a group to learn a foreign language. So say that East Asian students are generally very quiet in class and concentrate on learning foreign languages through writing and reading. They are afaid to speak in class lest they make a mistake. This is an extra curricular activity with no fear of a failing grade. Can you image US students making such an effort?
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS!!!!! in 1964 13 year old Elisa Johnson was raped and murdered in North Carolina, her body was found with multiple stab wounds, and now that you've read this, every night she will come to your house and hang from your closet with glowing red eyes, the only way to stop this is to post this to 10 other videos.
And you look more retarded than them, judging what you don't know about. This is their technique to actually acquire pronunctiation confidence by shouting along with other crowds. That way there is no embarassment. I learned my english in a different manner, but this seems more in the path of learning to speak it first prior to grammar.
The Tony Robbins of China. A gimmick, that's all---a gimmick. He'll make his money, then disappear (certainly leave China, maybe move to London or Toronto).
i don't know whether it's the sound quality or what, but it sounds as though he's saying "shpeak," not speak...oh well, as the first comment points out, he's probably laughing all the way to the bank
Interesting posting. The compound neologism "fucktard" from the root"fucking retard" is little used outside of a certain socio-economic class. A member of this group can often be identified by their teeshirt fronts, damp with drool, and their unibrow. Actually his (probably a male, as the females are generally better at grammar) use of "bunch" requires the plural form of fucktard, which is "fuckards"
Ah, Mr. Li's English lessons. The bane of my existence as an ESL teacher in China. I spent a year trying to teach my kids via traditional methods and this guy came in and did a presentation halfway thru the school year and I lost half of my students. And it really doesn't help them because they start to think that YELLING RANDOM ENGLISH PHRASES is normal and acceptable, when its not at all.
I worked in China for 4 years. Li yang is not very popular there now. Many students have realised his methods of teaching are just a money making gimmick and now prefer the natural way of learning. There is more choice nowadays too.
It's very funny
