The best cutter in the business. I remember getting home from school and not believing the Windies were chasing down 340. Bob Willis last test was the next one at Headingley.
I can't believe how weak England were here, absolutely abysmal bowling and fielding (not taking anything away from Greenidge!). Botham at the finish pretty much sums up their attitude.
I'm doing a jig in my living room..I didn't know you had this innings..This is priceless !! There were excerpts of this innings in Fire In Babylon & just the straight drive he smashes off Pringle made me want to search for this knock..Greenidge & Sehwag are kindred spirits..BTW Rob,if I may correct you isn't it Greenidge? You seem to spell his name as Greendige in all your videos..
@yennavai646 That straight drive is reminiscent of Pietersen against Lee in 2005 at the Oval. Both shots are beautifully audacious, a sort of savage beauty.
Isn't that Larry Gomes at the other end ? was this the match where they chased 300 odd runs on the last day of the match in 5 hours, that my dad keeps on saying about ?
I've owned some kind of recording of this disaster for more than twenty years and I still almost can't bear to watch it. Mind you, Jim Laker was dead right: how this England team thought they could remove Greenidge with a relentless barrage of filthy half volleys on leg stump and long hops outside off is anybody's guess. "That's how not to bowl" was the way my dad described it at the time in '84. Took me a few years of bowling to understand just how perfectly apt his choice of words were.
its u again!!!! robelinda i got work to do man...

Magnificent strokeplay; there's not many times you have to watch an innings beginning to end, so captivated are you; but this is one of them

Magnificent batsman!

Gordon Greenidge reminds me of todays Sehwag. Both opening batsman can destroy any balling attack by their torching strokes. Similar destroyers.
