Awe watching all of these babies being born make me want mine to hurry up and grow up. I think my guinea pig is a girl. So I cant wait till she gets old enough to have some Cavies!!!! How old should they be to have Cavies?

The same thing basically happened to us. Except no babies were born. But we thought we bought two females, then discovered that one was a male. We got him neutered just in time!

Yeah, this video is old and I hope you know by now and you should've then... But take the dad out!!!! He can get her pregnant again that same hour!!! The mom will need at least, AT LEAST a month's rest before mating again and that is pushing it! It should have no less then 2 month rest periods! To anybody and everybody, never leave the male in with the female once she has given birth!

by the way, did the mom manage to breast feed all five babies? i was told that a guinea pig usually can't cope with more than two babies as they only have two teats.

Ok cute video, please tell me that the sire has been nuetered before this video? Female guinea pigs can get pregnant right away after giving birth and the stress of nursing whilst pregnant can kill her! I know you only found out a week before birth but that is still plenty of time to seperate them. You should NEVER have the dad in the cage at the time of the birth. you can introduce him to the boys 4 weeks later though if you rub them with bedding from his cage first for the scent.

I got 2 boy guinea pigs from someone who purchased a pregnant one and didn't find out until later. We thought she was just fat! I made sure I took home 2 boys because the first thing I did was take them to the vet!

MY guinea pig was pregnant and 2 more weeks till she was going to give birth but today 10-15-2010 at 8:00 P.M i went to feed my guinea pigs and i saw my pregnant guinea pig very skinny so i thought that she might of given birth already.. She did but.. unfortunaltly the 3 babies died for some reason.. 2 of them dont have legs and part of the eye/head, and the other one has everything but a missing part of the head.. and they are kinda little as the ones ive seen on youtube... Maybe it wasnt time?

How long did it take your pig to have her babies after the digging and laying around?? My pig is pregnant now and i can see the babies moving and she lays around all the time and has been digging for a few days....
