  • The Eternal Ones really could've done a better job psycho-conditioning these guys to serve them.

  • All you haters are pathetic.

I loved everything about SC3: the puppets the map, the ships, the voices, the writing especially.

I can tell you I enjoyed myself a great deal more playing the game than you did coming here and slagging it off.

  • @MarquisdeBarrabas Not ALL SC fans hated the third one, the main problem with the game to them is that a lot of things where changed and the game didn't have the same feel. Other problems is that the execution for things for done poorly (the story) and because of certain tweaks (the missing races, the personalities being different, etc.), many consider the game non-canon. It did have good ideas, but they weren't treated properly. If you like the game for what it is, that's OK.

  • Star Control III for me is non-canon.

Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III had no involvement in this and it shows.

Star Control III shows what happens when a greedy company forgets about the game itself and eyes only profits.

You end up with a shit game that does no justice to the previous game, which I personally regard as the greatest ever.

Get fecked Accolade. Good riddance that you don't exist as a single entity anymore.

  • @uraniumdeath You're not the only one, the SC wiki only mention this game in it's own, four paragraph article.

  • I really do like some of the races in SC3. The Daktaklakpak and Xchaggers were especially memorable. The puppets were a weird gimmick, but even then, some of them (definitely not all) were pretty cool. Even some of the new voices were great - the new Orz voice is a VAST improvement over the uncharacteristically fey voice in SC2. The glaring flaw in SC3 was the gameplay.

  • I had no idea the Heralds were working for the Eternal ones. I thought they were just another race like the Vyro Ingo or Exquivian. I guess that's why I didn't run into them.

  • Is there a reason why you say "i like how everyone starts throwing around the phrase sentience silo like it was ever used before this point. way to go guys". Everyone meaning... the heralds? Is there a reason why we should have heard about it before? The heralds explained how the feeding process works here. I didn't find anything particularly confusing about what he said. Why should the sentience silo be mentioned before? That wouldn't make sense.

  • Do you realize how serious you become over less-important subjects such as video-game franchises ?

  • Ignore this moron. He follows me around like a girl that's in love with me because he's a creepy stalker with no life.

  • You call me a moron after I make a point about you?

  • Also, didn't you ( 3 Months ago) criticize me for ignoring your points on another video? If so, why are you ignoring my points about you now? Doesn't that make you a little bit hypocritical ?

  • This could have been a really really great game. But it has so many "holes", worse than Blackburn Lancashire.

Not to mention the way it ends (the only "boss" is essentially a clone of your Precursor ship, then there's two fleets, and then....this glorified "scavenger hunt")

And the actual ending made me want to cry, going into this deep philosophical spiel and such...seems like the ending was designed by Yoko Ono and Philip Glass.

  • What holes? If you are going to make claims like that, you should really specify what you mean.

  • @EnigmaHood Holes? I'll tell ya. Ok...the Kohr-ah subplot that goes no where....the Sa-Matra suddenly looking like the Love Boat (in the intro)....the "landing pod" mechanic....oh, and there's an artifact that supposedly makes the Owa ships better, but how do you get the Owa on your side?

  • Wow, I made this post 7 months ago... Well yes the Kohr-ah plot goes no where, but it's really not that important. The first time I played, none of my Kzer-Za colonies turned to Kohr-ah anyway. Yes the Sa-Matra looks like shit, but it's not really that important to the plot. The rest of the things you mentioned are also not that essential to the main plot. On the whole I liked SC3 a lot. It wasn't as good as SC2, but it was still good.

  • Thats not fair my last name is blackburn.

  • SC3 isn't just a mediocre game, its pretty bad sci-fi as well.

It has the double whammy of 'over time they evolved into energy being gods!' and the human tech-team quickly figuring out how to save the galaxy where every other race ever failed. Complete with a mandatory message about how special humans are.

Oh humans, you are so funny... In reality though, the only thing great about the human race other then their flavour (hmmm Glagnar's human rinds.) is is their overestimation of their value.

  • "In reality though, the only thing great about the human race is is their overestimation of their value." Interesting, I totally agree. We're feeble.

  • Yeah, I know. I've always thought of humans as the rats of the galaxy that no one likes. They multiply like rabbits, have short life spans, and have an obssessive desire to explore.

  • How is that different from Marvel comics though? Galactus is a powerful cosmic being that eats entire planets, yet humans are able to outsmart, and defeat him time and time again. Earth as a result, is never consumed. It's not really unusual to see humans portrayed as the heroes in Sci Fi.

  • Thats one of the reasons I loved SC2.

In the first and second games, humans aren't really all that special. They were just one of many races in the galaxy. The only things even remotely "special" about them is that they managed to get themselves into space without any help from a more advanced race. Which is rare, but not completely unheard of in the SC universe.

Hell, the Yehat managed it too. Which is one of the reasons why they like humans so much.

  • Lol. This game looks silly. :P

It is a game, right? xD

    I don't get it. D:

    I'm sorry? :c

  • I kind of like these guys. SC3 actually does seem to have some decent concepts in it, it's just the execution is just so horrible.

  • How true, although at the time of its release, I have to confess that I seriously loved Star Control 3 - I would say it was one of my favorite games to play at the time, along with whatever Heroes of Might & Magic game was most recent, Doom 2, and Worms (the original game, of course). Probably Phantasmagoria, also. Dunno what else, though.

  • They aren't the worst part of this game, that's for sure.

  • I like the look of the game and the characters in Star Control
