  • both a blast to listen to / watch ... anything Jorgenson does is amazing, Helecasters, Elton John work even his soprano sax ... he rocks

  • Cool. Enjoyed watching/listening.

  • WHO'S THE VIOLIN PLAYER? DON'T KNOW HIM!

  • put , Chet, Barney, Django, Les and all the others in a blender, speed it up fill upp huge glass full of the mix, then its about time to call the mix.

Tommy Emmanuel /John Jorgensen Coctail. You could even put it in som cute small bottles and sell it...still a great mix...

  • You don´t mess with Tommy.

  • I love the conversation they were having at the beginning. They both speak guitar so fluently.

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • I actually really like Tommy doing the gypsy stuff. That is red hot.

  • No person should ever be this good and shred this hard. So awesome.

  • I was at this show, and it was as amazing as it seems on the video and then some. T.E. is god

  • Django would probably love this!!!

  • Two absolute monsters on the acoustic, I LOVE IT!!! and Tommy never ceases to amaze me with his guitar prowess....thanks for posting this

  • @sbomnipotent Yeah John was in his element playing the gypsy style , you would have thought that Tommy would have felt a little out of place , but he holds his own with anybody he plays with.

  • Just saw this concert series for free at Copper mountain. guitar Town Rocks! Thanks for playing!

  • i didnt know tommy could sweep!!

  • @corban10101

    umm lol

  • never heard a better use of diminished chords and diminished runs..

absolutely breathtaking. not just speed. but clarity and clearness of purpose of what is going on.. simply without peer

    shally

  • If Bach and Paganini were alive today and met for a jam, it might sound something like this!

Amazing counterpoint on the fly from these two guitar masters.

  • shivers all up my spine!!!

  • I love the douchebag in the crowd who says "This is our jam here we go." @ 0:17

Go back to the Phish tour, brah.

Spay or neuter your dirt wookie.

  • i cant believe my eyes

  • can't compare solo sessions in a quintet to be the same as personal solos really

  • "fairly corny and tasteless" ?? This is a jam between two guitar masters. Unrehearsed,at a festival, thoroughly enjoying each others virtuosity. It is why we play music, listen to music. Please explain your position. I will respect your answer and I am curious.

  • @spadoukie I agree, it's just got a little too much cowbell. It's amazingly fun to watch if your a guitar player, which I am... but it's a little over the top, they are putting too much into it. I'm on the virtuoso trip right now but it's a train to get on and off and on and off again as a student of music. Right now I'm on it.

  • Yes I enjoyed it.

    Thank you for the vidio.

  • this makes me smile:D

  • amazing

  • Anytime I get a little cocky and think I'm a pretty decent guitar player, all I have to do is watch Tommy or John play and then I shut up and sit down. There's talent and then there's TALENT! Fantastic pickers and really nice people too.

  • I just saw Tommy and John play together at Tommyfest Kentucky! They should tour together! It was magic. Two styles that go together well.

  • Whatever John does, Tommy takes it to another level. John is a wonderful player, but Tommy is the monster on stage here. Well, Tommy is the all-around sick genius of the guitar, what can I say. I give John props for just appearing with Tommy and not being intimidated. Together they put on quite a show. Extraordinary.

  • tommy is one of the best players around fingerstyle easy..

  • Goddammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!

  • can you give something six sars on here?

    amazing

  • Why would you want to give someone SARS? That's disgusting!

  • Right at 1:02 Oh boy! It's on!

  • Guys! I doesn't make any difference if you dig Luther Perkins or George Van Eps. If you don't like this stuff--go to another site-go check out Barry Manilow. It's all objective, one man's garbage is another man's gourmet dish.

  • Oh my god! This is incredible guitar playing. It's musical, it's artistic and it is just so enjoyable to watch and listen.

  • Untitled1990-I can't post a 'reply' to your comment cause you closed your account, but if you're out there, here it is . . .

  • eah? well I've got some news that may be tough for you to hear: when someone has a strong dislike for something, it doesn't always mean they're jealous-sometimes people just dislike things. That means you're mum has lied to you all these years, and the people who constantly tell you you suck probably aren't really jealous-they just don't like you. You're right about one thing though: it certainly is alright to not like TE's music.

  • Hi :)

    i heart this gt

  • Hmm. Yeah that was on the Paul Mehling guitar lesson. I think this may be one of those childish attempts at offense that offends the speaker enough to make no retort necessary.

  • I have to say that you guys would'nt know musicianship if it called to your front door, brought your mom to the ice cream parlour bought her a huge cone, escorted her to lovers gulch and gave her the full hotdog dance. These chaps know more about melody than any of you piss ants will ever know. David Niven was right-Yanks only know how to assasinate presidents. One love to all the swing babies out there.

  • Groan-so lame to read self-important people flap their gums thinking anyone at all truly takes what they say seriously. Grow up. Anyone can find something to complain about, but sticking your snobbery into a comment thread on youtube? Please. Do you truly feel you've accomplished anything except garnering lectures from other people here? Are you looking for someone to give you attention, because the way you write reeks of "I NEED TO BE NOTICED!!! PLEEEASE!!!".

  • Tony Rice? LOL! Do me a favour. Tommy Emmanuel is one of the best guitarists who ever walked the planet, up there with Doyle Dykes, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton and the rest. Get on your knees and bow to Emmanuel. Do it. NOW. Worship him - even more than you worship yourself.

  • Thanks so much I met John in San Diego. My first question to him was about playing with Tommy.

    2 of my favorite players!

Thank you so much for sharing!

  • I had to come back and watch this one again. Tommy just got voted #1 acoustic guitar player. John Jorgensen plays this gyspy style all the time and it's kind of his specialty, so not too many players can come out on stage with him and hold their own in this style. Tommy not only held his own, he excelled! Hats off to both of them!

  • I was searching for John Jorgensen videos and came across this one. John is a fantastic player and Tommy is simply incredible. What a great jam!

  • no, we think this is fan-fucking-tastic Franco American swing playing.

Chill man, if you don't like it, don't watch the video.

  • Tommy blows Jorgenson off the stage. Shows the difference between a good muscian and a genius !

  • Are you retarded?

  • So what if the're not "Belgian enough",the arr.,

    solo tradoffs , collective interplay,&humorous

conviction/fire make up for it bigtime.

  • So cool! Best guitar duel since the Crossroads movie..

  • loudest/fastest guitar wins?

  • if u want to see emmanuel play fast look up town hall suffle with phil emmanuel

  • Woohoo~!! damn! an out of the universe experience from both 2 guitar players. tommy is exploding

  • WoW! - that was incredible. This is just about as good as it gets. Thanks for posting this one.

  • Amazing!

  • WOW!!!!!!!

  • Telluride ????

  • J J is truely amazing and seeing him play with someone of the calibre of Tommy is serious! I saw John in Samois two years ago and he just keeps gettng better-and how great does Colorado look in the background..nice

  • Thanks so much for posting this. As someone who appreciates the power of a fully-cranked stack of amplifiers, this stuff absolutely floors me. Two acoustic players tearing it up like nobody's business. Very humbling indeed!

  • Hating America is the popular thing to do on the internet. Good job. You're not helping anything.

  • Hey TE ain't American. I have no trouble with Americans but i am Australian we Aussies like to see a fellow Aussie get credit where credit is due. We cant help ourselves lol

  • Sounds like your dyslexia and ancestry confusion may be related to an anger issue; your hate America tirades in particular.

  • just amazing!!!John you are the number one!!! greetings from Salzburg Efraín and Christine.

  • A MIRACLE! YOU'VE SEEN IT FOLKS. FUCHOFME123 CURED OF DYSLEXIA RIGHT HERE ON YOUTUBE. Even more amazing his parents changed from Jamaican to Scotch/Irish. Keep tuned for future miracles.

  • Why don't you show us how a Jamaica/European would do it, fuchofme123? Take a piece of paper wrap it over a comb and hum into it. With your fast mouth you can probably triple toungue it.

  • I'm really impressed by the strength of Tommy's picking. It's very hard & percussive. What axe is he playing? It looks like just an old beat-up acoustic to me, but he makes it sound REAL good!

  • That'll be his trusty Maton guitar. I own one too (the similarity ends there).

  • Tommy is playing a Maton BG808TE. Made in Australia of Queensland maple with a Sitka spruce top. This is the Tommy Emmanuel signature model guitar. The guitar is not very old in this video. He plays percussion on it during his shows and basically beats the hell out of it.

  • Don't tell me Django couldn't play Louis Armstrong licks, He played so many of the same tunes as Louis Armstrong its not even funny.

Obviously he played them differently, but they were still the same tunes.

  • Ou est la musique?

  • c'est un dommage que tu n'écoutes pas la musique il faut vraiment savoir ou l'art se cache

  • Hey totsmarkopolis,

As usual, most guitar based videos become an arena for negative comments. Consider that John Jorgenson has a degree in woodwinds, can play clarinet like Benny Goodman, can play guitar in ANY style with the best of 'em and is an excellent keyboard player. Maybe you're right, he might not be as good as Stochelo in the Django style.

  • I'm American, and love for your country is great, but why stop at the border?

  • I am American...so is Jazz. I think Django could play just about anything he wanted to, he was a bad ass. Every time I hear some hot shot classically trained musician tell me how to play Jazz I mention Django and his 3 fingers and how he revolutionized Jazz guitar. I mean Django got influenced by American Jazz, American Jazz was influenced by the melting pot of all the ethnic groups hanging out and jamming together...thats what makes it so cool, there's something for everyone.

  • tell that to Django who got most of his licks from Louis Armstrong

  • I'm of the opinion it doesn't matter what color your skin is or where your from. It's music, who gives a shit what you look like or wear your from. And of course its gonna sound a little country, John is a blue grass player too and I know very little about tony emmanuel but seems to me gypsy jazz isn't really his deal, but whats wrong with them playing it?

    open your mind.

  • Jamaica in Europe? That must have been some more move.

  • The only thing funkofme123 can play is his big-mouth. And it's always the same old tune "Bash America". Learn another song, dude.

  • Lol the little guitarbattle in the beginning was amazing. The rest was amazing too btw

  • I think it's a bit harsh saying it's like a "white guy trying to play Robert Johnson." I'd say it's more like "Elvis doing gospel." He does a pretty good job, but it's not quite traditional. That's about what stuff like Jorgensen & Tommy E doing "gypsy jazz" is like --- pleasing and quite different. But I agree for a more traditional approach (which can be "modern" and lightning fast) go with S. Rosenberg!

  • Over the friggen top!!

  • next, you'll be telling us we should leave "gypsy" jazz to the two-fingered gypys! man, open your mind a bit.

  • It's a version of the song Avalon

  • these guys bow down before stochelo rosenberg. there is just no comparison... its like a white guy trying to play Robert Johnson.

  • Sounds much more "country" than gypsy... but good effort though.

  • dude! 4 weeks! haha

  • Great performance. Too bad the camera wasn't zoomed-in the whole time.

  • Great post! Mooooooore!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • This is an absolutely amazing performance. Thanks for posting this! You were lucky to see that.
