  • She is one good looking piece of pussy.

  • poor folks.

  • WOO Trent Reznor!!!

  • @kpbc401 yeah muda fucka

  • its difficult as hell to see veronica cry!

  • i love Veronica. what time does she go LIVE. on CNN?!!

  • Hey speaking of hosts on CNN have you seen tha lady wih the herpe sore on her lip?

I mean she's had it for like a year and i looked around for people talking about it but i see nofin.

  • maybe if the hospitals stopped charging money for everything, then eric would be alive today and would've had an easier chance of having a heart transplant

  • Then they would have no money.

  • @adamchabbi6 Yeah, hospitals give out free hearts.

  • How does the NHS in the UK compare to the US situation?

  • 'little things mean alot'.

instead of music which has no meaning, we need to use it as a tool, to help give people self asteem, so we can make the changes needed in our world.

in the 60's, the sit in's were fun and the speeches give, or sung, were of value,we did things, like kissing contests, dancing contests, for donations, good came, a bit of the battle's won. maybe in these times, there are more of us, than they can count. many in wait, to weed out those who cause trouble instead of good.

  • time we spend on nitty gritty, is nothing. useless.

we need to group, and make a stand.

people are taugh no negative, this is what we live.

this is not the time to enjoy every moment, it is the time we must stand, even things which take years, so much effort. we can find joys, but we must not stay in this mode, we must stand up and say, this is our world, we are all citizens of the world...changes are made slowly, some truth's out, but ears/mind closed...we are all in this together.

  • Im a doner... but thats not going to help Eric right now

  • Thank God for the NHS this is why we must never loose it.

  • heart goes out to them!

  • I know it aint much, but i could only affort 10$ donate by the Nine Inch Nails site,

You should all watch the film, Sicko by M. Moore. it should open every high positions mens eyes,

I hope for Eric and his sister, they will make it in time. best luck and forever happiness. Rico

  • Huge respect to my friend Eric's sister. Your heart is bigger than mosts.

  • Excuse me? A one woman campaign? There are so many people involved, that that statement is absolutely insulting.

  • 1:55 the word fuckwad appears in a nice little tweet from TR. a little humor in a not so funny situation.

  • Trent reznor watched this :P

  • I was at the Burgettstown stop last night.

  • I am so glad I live in Canada.

  • There is so much funding available for destroying lives than there is for saving them. This is Fact.

They make it almost impossible to become disabled to the point where you give up. It took me years to find a doctor to do back surgery on my husband on a LOP from a car accident we were in that was the other drivers fault. He needed the surgery for rebuilding his discs and a cage built to stabilize his vertebra,

  • Are you for real?

  • Men need to have some kind of say in what women do. Expecially in the work place. Feminism is so entrenched in the work place that it is destroying the economy.

  • Feminism has nothing to do with destroying the economy you ignorant prick

  • Yes it does. men made up 80% of the job loses. Women do not get laid off because they either have a new born or offspring on the way. Fucking bullshit you cunts.

  • lol. you must be one of them guys where the wife or girlfriend makes more money than you and you can't stand it.

  • not all women working have a new born or an offspring on the way.

  • Interesting. Personally...I think they need more women in the GOVT to straighten the mess all the men made. LOL Guess that never dawned on you, eh?

  • You've never heard of the amendments, have you?

  • I think the important thing now is to really push education to the viewers, more so than the wreck of our health care system. Reason being..all the money in the world could be present and insurance available...but if a heart is not there, than patients like Eric De La Cruz, Paul Balthazar, Baby Lilian, Ray Jolly, and the countlesss of others have no chance. Please review organdonor . gov

  • The US needs a system like the NHS in Britain. Its still not perfect, but its a hell of a lot better than what the way the states have it set up.

Too bad there's so many selfish healthy Americans against the idea.

Also, i don't see why she should mention Trent, the issue is not how wonderful he is, but how flawed the system is. This ain't the place for celebrity arse-kissing.

  • can't stand to watch one of my favorite ladies hurting!

  • Why didn't she bring up the work done by Trent Reznor? At least the interviewer brought it up. Pretty ungrateful!

  • I totally agree! That would have been the first thing i would have brought up in the interview. He has, single handily for the most part, raised about 900,000 so for for eric, and without Trent's efforts, they would be screwed. How rude of her.

  • Indeed!

  • Trent Reznor seems like a pretty decent guy, both from his actions and from countless interviews by others. You think he's offended that she chose NOT to waste the precious little airtime she got on kissing his ass, and instead used it to show how tragic Eric's case is (not to mention there are a hundred thousand others just like him), and that the system needs to change?

You seem like a pretty poor judge of character. For shame.

  • According to this video segment there are over 102,000 people on a list for a life saving organ transplant. While I feel deep sympathy for Eric, I want to know why is it that this one single case is being singled out?

There are thousands of other cases (of all ages) in the same situation.

How can we help not just Eric, but everyone in the same situation? Not everyone has a sister with CNN and celebrity connections.

  • I know what you mean, and I agree in part.

The tipping points that got me to donate were the way it has demonstrated the power of internet communities (especially the passionate NIN fan-base) to actually do something powerfully positive in the real world, and even more importantly, to highlight how TOTALLY F*CKED our healthcare system is, especially when it's a hot topic in Washington right now.

  • The HC system is NEVER going to get fixed if we provide free health care to non US residents. Visions of universal health by Obama is never going to work because somebody has to pay for it & that somebody will ALWAYS be the working class..and not only will they pay for it...they won't be eligible for "free" healthcare. The Govt. needs to remove ABLE bodied citizens from welfare & disability - give to those who ARE disabled and physically unable to work. That is how the system needs revamped.

  • "The Govt. needs to remove ABLE bodied citizens from welfare & disability"

Naturally I agree, but that's easier said than done. Good government is *HARD* to do right.

I bust my ass every day at a corporate job, so freeloaders f*cking piss me off too, but I'd still rather see a system that has some people gaming it but which covers everyone, than a system that turns away loads of people who legitimately need it, even if it has no freeloaders.

  • So who do you think is going to pay for this so-called free health care system? Do you REALLY think Obama is going to institute that everyone can now have free universal health care? No. It will come from the pockets of those who pay for insurance through their jobs, and their employers will pay for it too...while the insurance companies will raise all their rates to offset it. Who pays? YOU again. Unless you collect welfare.

  • I'm not an idiot. There's no such thing as "free". But as it is, I ALREADY pay! Now I'll still be paying, but because the rate could be negotiated as a single-payer, the rate could improve. Also, like I said, I would rather see a system with some freeloaders but which covers everyone than a system which excludes anyone unfairly. Further, yes, I would HAPPILY PAY FOR THAT WITH A TAX INCREASE THAT DIRECTLY IMPACTED ME. What's so wrong with erring on the side of compassion?

  • Well, what do YOU suggest? Things can't keep going on the way they are. Insurance companies are ripping us off- taking our money, and then denying coverage every chance they get. My g/f is about $3000 in debt because of decisions made by her family to save her life while she was unconscious, believing that the emergency surgery would be covered- but Kaiser Permanente dropped her on her ass. I'm sick of hearing people talk about why our system can't change- it HAS to.

  • 1. Stop ER visits; if child has sore throat. Use outpatient centers.

    2. Revamp welfare system/disability: those who collect are truly in need. If one collects, they enter a work-govt. payback program.

    3. Provide tax incentives/employers who provide insurance.

    4. Healthcare for legalized citizens, only.

    5. Provide govt. low cost Ins. for those in need. Not universally.

    6. ALLOW preventative bloodwork screening.

    7. Stop pharma manuf. from selling meds oversea's at a cost less than Americans pay!

  • 8. STOP the frivolous spending in Govt.

    9. STOP the $89 bandaid charges by hospitals.

    10. Revamp medicare and crazy loopholes. Ex: nursing home patient to have blood draw by private lab for possible infection as patient has fever. Cost $121 in claims. Medicare DENIES. Nursing home alternative? Patient to ER by ambulance for same blood work. Cost $1420. Medicare APPROVES.

    11. Private Insurance: Needs filling on baby tooth. Cost: $38 Ins: DENIES (baby tooth)

    Sealant process: $117 Ins. APPROVES

  • Until Government can trim the spending in their own "house", and not expect the taxpayers to offset their frivolous spending...no change will work. (Flying AirForce One to NY to take the Mrs. to a Broadway show is a ridiculous waste of money. As is flying for a photo op..and so is weekly Wednesday cocktail parties.) I don't see Obama as the answer. He's a big spender. Last thing I want as a taxpayer is waiting for my child's broken arm to be set because an illegal is in line in front of us.

  • YES. Changes need to be made. Eric would should never have had to wait two years and 3 appeals to finally claim disability when people who are out golfing/bowling collect from back injuries on their first claim. THAT is where it needs evaluated. NO chronically ill patient should have to beg for help, while able bodied ones abuse the system. Hire more investigators to get those who collect from being allowed to collect when clearly capable of working.

  • Right now the utmost need is for Eric, and others like Eric, to receive a heart.

Many hospitals need to be trained to recognize when a patient is not going to pull through to have info available for family regarding donations.

Most hospitals cringe because they feel it is gives "no hope" or reflects on "poor care". Families are grieving, yes, so why not have Organ Donation info pamphlets available for families to read in the waiting rooms? Presently, they are not doing such. Shame.

  • We need to get the profit motive out of the picture entirely. We need a healthcare system driven by the patients' needs, not by the greed of insurance companies', hospitals' and pharmecuetical companies' stockholders. The system doesn't just need some changes- it needs to be completely rebuilt.

  • Yes, it absolutely needs rebuilt. You state you do not want to see Healthcare from a "profit" insurance company? Well...then look at Medicare/Medicaid as your guide as to what a government run insurance company looks like. It's pathetic. Senior citizens do not get their needed medications. Only get generic and many of the needed meds are non generic. Trust me. You don't want to see a Govt run health system, not too mention...it will have a private insurance company contracted to "do the deed".

  • What you want to see, Stevebelzer, is a private ins company no longer allowed to donate and fund the politicians. Rules that they are only allowed to donate the same as any other citizen. Then watch how fast the insurance companies start becoming a competing business...for business. Watch how fast the rates drop.

  • By the way, SteveBelzer, it's a government/state run program that denied Eric from being EVALUATED as a heart transplant receipient. I just don't understand why so many people see the clear indications of an awful government run system and still root for it to take over? I think all people can hear is "Free", "Universal", and "Change" and all common sense goes out the window. Let me state this again. FIX what we have...we want improvements not CHANGE. Be careful for what you all wish for.

  • Just because our medicare system is broken doesn't mean that government run healthcare can't work. It works in dozens of other countries better than our privately run system works here. Cuba's healthcare system is even rated higher than ours. And good luck preventing insurance companies from funding political campaigns- campaign finance reform is the single issue that every single PAC in the country can agree to rally against.

  • Improvements are changes.

  • Also: much of the industrialized world manages some kind of single-payer health care, and they seem to be doing just fine. (Certainly better than us on average, especially when it comes to health...) If they can do it, surely the "greatest nation on earth" can pull it off.

  • I agree with jensck. I see for-profit medicine as having an inherent conflict of interest. From the insurance end, they have an interest in profiting as much as possible, and their profits go up when they deny as many claims as they can. The more people they screw over, the richer they get. From the standpoint of hospitals, they drive profits up by overcharging for procedures, and recommending expensive procedures over simpler ones or over preventative medicine.

  • You have a really good point!

  • It's important to single someone out because when you can place a face and a life to all of the horrible things that happen to all of those people, it makes people want to make a change. As sad as it is, people care less if you say "102,000 people need transplants" rather than "This person needs a transplant, is struggling just to survive and no one will give him insurance, and oh, by the way there are 102,000 people just like him". It fosters the opportunity for change for all of them.

  • Nine Inch Nails fuckin rules.

  • Hope the young man will get a miracle and get back into his normally healthy life soon. I hope others in a similar situation get help too. I think Obama's administration overall, is more caring than the previous. Hopefully, he and his team will help change the system for the better, soon.

  • The whole health care system stinks and sucks major balls.

I don't know how it got so bad. People shouldn't have to lose their houses and the shirt on their backs to get health care. Is it because of a few greedy Insurance CEO's or a few greedy, unethical doctors or greedy pharmaceuticals/ big pharma?

  • TY for posting this. Nice to see Veronica and Eric get some support from the TV media. Proud every day to be a part of the #Eric twitter army and to have been able to donate for his cause. (LockeDown815)

  • why is there happy music on such a sad subject?

  • It's a sad situation. It almost makes you feel guilty for being healthy.

  • Gracias Trent por ayudar a salvar a Eric. Siempre hay ímbeciles que les gusta joder a los demás.

  • Have been trying to add a comment here with links to a petition and a donation site for eric :/

  • follow me at twitter @lilyofoz

or to find more of the eric twitter army. search hashtag #eric at twitter, and you will find many of them there. They would be more than happy to help direct you to petition site and donation site. Thanks people of the world! :))

  • The comments here could not have missed the point more if the point were in another country altogether.

  • Trent. Thanks. It was soooo much fun to meet the band and GIVE at the same time. You make a diference.

  • I'm really glad that people in the "spotlight" are willing to talk about this broken health care system and fight for what they know is right. Everyone should have health care and no-one should have to suffer the way Eric and Veronica are right now. I'm thrilled that I could help in some small way to get Eric on the road to recovery. See you tomorrow, Trent.

  • Wow Trent did not get the proper recognition!

He is the one who saved this guy! She only made 5k before he got involved and it went to 800k+

He worked hard for her and she didn't even bother saying his name!

  • Reznor didn't help because he wanted credit or glory. He just wanted to help Eric get to live.

  • I wouldn't argue on here, people will post shit just to piss other people off (including me) and there's no moderators to cry to.

Actually, don't argue on the internet at all.

  • I doubt he wants it. Seems to be the kind of guy who wouldn't.

  • Trent doesn't care about the credit, just that Eric gets the help he deserves that we all deserve.

The only thing Trent wanted his name used for was to get people to help, by donating. I'm sure she has thanked Trent in person and Trent knows how thankful she is.

This wasn't a plublicity stunt for Trent it was for Eric.

  • @KORNgaveHEADtoGOD Eric died...

  • so he should help no one because he can't help everyone?

keep in mind all of this raises awareness for the problems that will hopefully get fixed so no one else he has to go through what eric does.

  • You really are a shallow person. Stop bringing up your own problems into the situation. You think Reznor can save every person in the world? You think he even knows you exist? Trent is an incredible person to help raise money for Eric. Stop whining about your life and be happy that SOMEONE cares about SOMEBODY other than THEIR SELF.

  • You're ignorant!

  • I donated a $1000 to Eric's fund, and in return I get to meet Jane's Addiction one of my favorite bands of all time! Thanks to Trent Reznor one of my dreams is going to come true in just 3 days!

But then I think about Eric and his dream is to live. Eric's sisters dream is to see Eric live. I wish Eric the best, and I'm glad I could help.

At this moment, I am reflecting on why I had to receive something in order for me to donate to such a cause. I'm not a bad person but I could be a better one.

  • I really don't get it how americans can live with such a crappy healthcare system...

    amazing...

  • This makes me cry :( I'm glad I donated but it hurts to see constant updates up and down with him..I know he will make it though, I know he will. And Trent, you are an amazing person for helping out as much as you have...without you, not near as much money would have been raised. We love you Eric and wish you a safe recovery.

  • I think Trent Reznor is a real sweet guy to have helped as much as he has.

  • I think that Eric's cause is a good one. But it does bother me to see one person with a famous family member get money that could help those with out money. I guess it shows that everybody in this country is at risk, no matter what their family brings in financially. I know that my disability case has been fought for over five years and I don't have anybody but my husband to help and I can't work to help. It would be great if NIN did this for others too.

  • Sooo what makes Eric more special than all the other people out there in dire need of heart transplants? This raises several delicate questions, just like when an entire nation had its panties in a bunch because ONE cancer patient (Jade Goody) was dying. How many more anonymous mothers, fathers, songs, daughters, husbands and wives died while everyone in the UK was bawling over her? The only way to make a REAL difference is by creating a foundation to help out as many people as possible!

  • I have been following this story for a while. i became involved when NIN did. yes i donated time and money. this made me tear up. and that is not something that happens often.

  • It is terrible that we live in the greatist country in the world, and we can't even take care of our own. THANK YOU to TRENT REZNOR, TONY HAWK, JANES ADDICTION and EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS HELPED ERIC. It's more than just helping this young man, it's raising awareness even more now how horrible the American healthcare system is!! Never stop fighting, we need healthcare for EVERYONE. IT IS A RIGHT!

  • No person deserves a death sentence because a privatized system deems them unworthy of the cost of treatment! Every system mentioned on this is FATALLY BROKEN and is allowed to continue to exist for 2 plain and simple reasons. 1- GREED. and 2- APATHY!

  • canadian health care system ftw

  • makes me feel really good watching this knowing we donated to help him..what a heart wrenching story! i met trent and he is an amazing person for doing this and raising so much money for his cause :D we need more people like him in the world

  • awesome. poor guy. i hope he makes it. it's weird to hear this tan, blond woman say nine inch nails and trent reznor.

  • i'd like to se an DETAILED ITEMIZED list of the ACTUALY honset to GOD COSTS involved. WTF. Seriously. A MILLION? Maybe the healthcare industry is being INSANELY GREEDY ALL THE WAY 'ROUND?

  • ever been to a ER for 10 hrs. maybe a full set of labs being run can cost you from 500 to 1500 depending on what is ordered. a CT scan for just your head is 6000 add contrast and a c spine scan your talking 15000. The cost to spend even 2 hrs in a surgery lab:

    Anesthesiologist - 15000 to 20000

    surgeon - 25000 to 50000

cost to use the room for the surgery - 20000

nursing staff for the surgery - 20000

  • I have an ER visit for an asthma attack on my credit due to it being sold to collections, for a $2500 bill (spent less than 1 hour there) that neither of my insurance companies would pay because I changed insurance in order to get a policy which would cover a surgery my wife needed. I was forced to have the change backdated to the date she left her employer, which happened to fall a few days before I had the asthma attack. This broken system affects everyone in very significant ways.

  • when nurses starting make $65 an hr just wiping asses and intensive care nurses can make up $175 an hr... maybe a million isnt such a small number for just a little ol' heart.

  • awesome! im so proud to have been able to donate to eric.. even as small an amount as it was, the money us NIN and Janes Addiction fans have raised is INCREDIBLE and im so proud of trent and everyone else in the NINJA camp! rock on kids!

  • Thanks so much for posting, this story is so important for people to hear. All my best to Veronica and Eric.

  • I donated to the campaign through Nine Inch Nail's massive fundraising campaign, and my fingers are crossed until Eric is back on the road to recovery.

  • Eric's Twitter Army are with Veronica! Thanks 4 posting this.

  • I'm part of Eric's Twitter Army! As happy as I was to meet Trent Reznor and NIN, I'm more happy to support #Eric and I wish him a swift recovery from his BiVAD surgery so he can get back on that list and get a heart!

  • bless her and her brother.and bless trent for getting involved

  • Powerful story -- I hope everyone understands how this could happen to them.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this video!
