Yes, the writer is indeed Mr. Rex Roberts, who is a retired teacher from St. John's and also has a cabin next to his mothers house at Princeton. I know the man quite well.
awh yes! john prince & a piece of the rock. they were one of the best nfld bands while they were together 4 about 10 yrs. they were based out of toronto where they worked full time jobs but still did festivals everywhere as well as newfoundland for as long as they could hold the band together. pretty sure john's in brampton now but i still see "piece of the rock" occassionally at clubs down on queen st. in toronto. they had a re- union 4 john quinns birthday who's a friend. their great guys.
Every time I hear John prince, I think of the beauty of Newfoundland. Those pics are great! That pic of the old salt box house.......brings back many memories.
Have you ever had the courage to go sailing, On waters where no one sailed before? You have sailed the ship of John Cabot, And found a home on Newfoundland shore. Yes, we are a sea-fearing people, With saltwater blood in our veins; Boats have been our cradles and our coffins, A fierce humble pride still remains. Living on hearts filled with courage, Harvesting the sea and the land; Living on our love of tradition, A legacy of Cabot's Newfoundland. (Greatsong, wonderfulsingerTksLKB

Another great voice like John Denver. Something fresh, clean and with meaning. Something we need these days.
