@AwakeningShift - Many States & the Federal government GOT their laws from the Bible. This is not forcing Christianity on anyone. IT worked in Scotland, England, Scandinavia, and early America.
Yes. it did in fact worked everywhere(Geneva, Scotland, England in America), as it has also permitted many to steal land from the indigenous; to enrich in gold and own assets and properties that is now enslaving the same human under the corporate world.
Honestly, MANY religions are run by very very bad people who suffer schizophrenia madness but...the angelic and alien fairy tale require further investigation.
Religious people often contradict the morality of their own religion. That just proves these people were hypocrites -- it does nothing to tarnish the ideal. In fact, even you use the ideal of Christian morality to construct an argument against them!
Maybe, but I have tried to be a "simple observer" of the reality that is enfolding around us. I think we have complicated our life more than the discriminated indigenous that leave in harmony with nature.
In my opinion, there is much more things to learn from the few politically, economically and theocratically unspoiled indigenous instead of this life-style dictated by psychopath corporate and religion?
The last time I checked about Geneva and Scotland is that they were repressive squalors that robbed humankind of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. So, by that logic, a Christian republic is an oxymoron. In fact, it seems like the Bible supports the divine right of kings more than anything else.
It sounds like you have read some left-wing revisionist history sound bites. If you wish to know the truth you will have to read a few books on the time period.
No, slavery is permitted as a form of indentured servitude. It took the place of jails and was a form of debt settlement. Murder of slaves was a capital crime.
Religion killed thousands and is not a good basis onto which to build a society.
And, the bible endorses salvery. So you will need to discount, discredit, dimminish, or ignore that part of the bible (your moral code in a book that is the 'whole' truth) if you believe slavery is immoral.
Atheism has killed tens of millions - Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, so I'll pick religion as a basis to build a society.
The Bible condemns chattel slavery but endorses indentured servitude -- people who committed a crime or who owe a debt they cannot pay are able to work it off. They were not slaves for life.
I advocate biblical slavery as a great alternative to prisons that harm non-violent criminals and don't rehabilitate.
ok, but Americans are stealing, killing, coveting etc.
Imperialistic and they are limiting the rights of their own citizens while preaching freedom in other countries.
I am not religious, i want seperation from church and state completely.... however if we actually were a government based on rule of god, there would be a much different society.
we have neither freedom nor a government led by god....
even god gov't would not oppress me for smoking cannabis.
It is about time that someone instructs the majority of so-called Christians that there is more to Christianity than just getting someone saved. The majority of churches have discarded most of the Bible in favor of church philosopy. God says that every word of the Bible is for instruction. God isn't sitting somewhere hoping that the world will one turn to Him. He has predestined all of what we have seen in history.
You either have the constitution or you don't (freedom of speech and religion).
If you don't then you are no longer an American.

You can't force a peaceful society on people if you're pointing guns at them, and forcing your religion on them.
I'm a new convert to Christianity, but this I can not condone.
AwakeningShift 2 years ago
And this is not condoning that. You need to listen more carefully.

Anyone who does not agree with his theology is not "clear thinking" or "biblically thinking"?
Is this an example of sound theology or more political correctness?
Why does he round the corners of his beard?
Is this man a truth speaker or a false teacher?

Why do we need to Repent for slavery if it is not a sin?
If we want run Government from the direct instruction of the Laws of the Bible, Then we need to admend the Bible to make slavery a sin.
How far should we carry out this logic?
Also Civil rights do not depend on religious beliefs, Freedom does NOT require Faith.
Every Christain should realize that Government involvement in matters of religion tends to end in the restraint of religion.

Kidnapping is a sin.

Slaves can be bought, inhierted, or be a spoil of war.
Kidnapping = slavery ...please
(Spoken like a true apoligist.)

If killing thousands is your measure of success. Slavery is permitted in the bible.

Better re-read your archaic book friend. Their is a guide as to how to treat slaves in there. If that is not slave permissive what is?
stratvic 4 years ago
You said the Bible permitted killing thousands of slaves.
Then tell me the chapter and verse please.
The burden of proof is on you to show something that does not exist.

It didn't work in Geneva. In Geneva it was illegal to practice anything other than the state religion.
