The purpose of a judge is to use the constitution and the laws formed by congress as a foundation to make a ruling. However, Sonia Sotomayor believes in judicial activism which means judges can make law from the bench. The judicial branch is not supposed to make laws; the legislative branch is supposed to make laws. What good is the constitution if our own judges disregard it and make laws from the bench? This is why 60% of her rulings have been overturned by the Supreme Court.
The 60% number you cite is extremely misleading. Yes, she's been reversed 60% of the time that SC GRANTS CERT. They don't do that much. The 60% represents 4 cases in over a decade on the bench. The typical SC reversal rate is 65% She's issued several hundred opinions. In reality, she's reversed less than 1% of the time.
Besides, merely being overturned doesn't make a judge good or bad. Just look at Scalia. When his cases were granted cert by the SC, he was overturned 100% of the time.
Come on people, we can't expect the administration of "hope and change" to nominate anything but such a person. It's time to hate white people or conservatives, Christians, etc. and make judgments based on race.

The purpose of a judge is to use the constitution and the laws formed by congress as a foundation to make a ruling. However, Sonia Sotomayor believes in judicial activism which means judges can make law from the bench. The judicial branch is not supposed to make laws; the legislative branch is supposed to make laws. What good is the constitution if our own judges disregard it and make laws from the bench? This is why 60% of her rulings have been overturned by the Supreme Court.

The 60% number you cite is extremely misleading. Yes, she's been reversed 60% of the time that SC GRANTS CERT. They don't do that much. The 60% represents 4 cases in over a decade on the bench. The typical SC reversal rate is 65% She's issued several hundred opinions. In reality, she's reversed less than 1% of the time.
Besides, merely being overturned doesn't make a judge good or bad. Just look at Scalia. When his cases were granted cert by the SC, he was overturned 100% of the time.
