Honestly I don't like what they did with the orchestration on this, one of the moving and emotional songs of the show. No one will ever rival Philip Quast, but thats not my complaint here. I've seen teenagers perform Javert very well. My issue here is that his voice is just too deep. Javert should have a more reedy tenor, as it adds to his shrill character. I'd listen to a dog take a crack at Javert's Soliloquy, if he wanted to try, but this just makes want to hear Quast.

@gmdohiorep Javert is a baritone role, even bass-baritone. It's not meant for a tenor. Quast isn't a tenor at all. Check out Brian Stokes Mitchell singing this role, it's the perfect timbre, and he has a deep baritone. And Javert is not a "shrill" character at all--just the opposite, in fact.

philip quast is the best javert ever performed in a les miserables concert but is also good...and for me,he is next to philip in my list of the best Javert.^_^

I think the singing is great. of course not as good as by quast, but thats almost impossible.

Although Quast set VERY high standard, this man is simply pathetic as Javert.

Maybe his other performances are great, but this... Oh, come on...

I am sorry, but if I compare this version of Javert's suicide to the one of the 10th anniversary, this version is horrible. I don't say that he is not a good actor, but they should have kept the same style as the other version.

He's not up to the same singing standard as Philip Quest. He doesn't seem to have the lung capacity.
