Thank you so much for posting these! I've always loved this series. Carl Sagan spoke the commencement speech at my college graduation in the 80s. It was a wonderful experience listening to him speak to us.
The speech at the end by the older Carl was incredibly moving and touching. This was a compelling series of our humanity's self discovery. I am incredibly excited for the new Cosmos that will come out within the coming year hosting Neil Tyson. There may be differences in the information that Carl had for what Neil has now, and future scientists as well, but the resonance of inquisitive discovery will always lie with this Cosmos series, and the many scientific series to follow...
yesterday as today, ignorance has prevailed, on Saturday a week ago, the Egyptian Institute was burnt to the ground, and with it, all the treasures stored in the last 2 centuries.... (tears in my eyes)
TomKNJ... thank you. I have watched the whole series and am in awe at Carl, what he discusses and what it means for us. Thanks for your help with that.
Whether they are hostile to us or not depends on the level of intelligence compared to us, like us to ants, if their is a goldbar(vital resources) underneath an ant hill then you would care nothing about. this unadvanced colony(earth) of primitive creatures. You would just take the resources maybe study/experiment the creature a bit in dispair like we curiously do to ants when we step on there ant hill, and then just leave.
I watched the Cosmos when it was first broadcast here in the UK in 1981 and I remember seeing an episode showing what the Velocer Raptor may have evolved into (Humanoid) if the dinosaurs hadn’t become extinct…I didn’t see it anywhere in these episodes…what happened to it and why wasn't it shown?
I've watched the entire series and my only disappointment is that it took me 25 years to do so. It is a shame that more people do not think the same way that Carl Sagan did. The world would almost certainly be a much better place and it's tragic that he is no longer with us.
Thanks religion and greed. You really have done so much for our species over the years.
With more sincerity thanks for posting the series... I'm glad that I didn't miss out.
@novsolomaster1 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed
Thanks you so much for posting these videos. I've watched all 13 in the past two weeks and am such a better person for it. What an incredible and ineffably beautiful mind. We miss you, Carl.
The song that begins at 10:00 is from Beethovens Symphony No. 7.
User elias12186 has a pretty good version of it uploaded here. Just search for "Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A major (3/5) op 92 "

Carl had an astounding ability to enlighten us with more information than we knew existed, and leave us with so much to think about.
RIP Dr. Sagan you will always be missed...

Sagan's dream must have been horrible until he found his home planet.

I love the subtlle of Carl Sagan: science without a critical attitude over the society is not useful science.....

At the end, after the Cosmos Update, the first thing that went through my mind was "That was the greatest update to anything I have ever seen."
