lol @ all those old fucken cars driving around....this really isnt that old but it looks fucken ancient...........this is OG shit right here..it was like the perfect storm for all this to come together because VCRs were just becoming popular around this time and affordable for most people to buy.. Stacey and the BB are fucking originators!!!!!!!!!
What is the name of the trick that tony does at 1:14 ,& if i go to a vert/bowl comp can i still do old school tricks similar to the ones that they used to do?
OMG,I'm only fourteen and this made me realize even more that most kids today just skate for sponsors, take skateboarding WAY too serious, and some of them are nothing but ignorant arragant assholes. This vid has influence me alot.I've only been skating two years.
That was exactly my Time of Skateboarding. In the early 80's Skateboarding became huge in Germany thru the Help of Titus Dittman. He opened the first Skateshop, builded Skateparks and invented the Münster Monster Mastership where all the US Pro's skated. Great Times. I still have one of my old Boards: Santa Cruz Skull, Independent Trucks, OJ-II Wheels... :) The Style was different back in the days. We used to hang out at the Spots with Punks, Mods whatever. No Hating. Just all havin a good time.
Dude we really need to educate todays generation. Skateboarding has gotten raw as fuck over the past couple decades and I freaking love it, but kids these days are loosing touch with the roots man, I bought "Extremely Sorry" like everyone else and me being a tranny dog I thought lance had the best part, and I was watching it with some friends and lances part started playing, the claymation, and my friend was like that intro was stupid, whys he eating a banana what is he gay? I said dude you know
@Skatemore1243 thats from the bones brigade video show right? This was his response, and I'm quoting "Oh that old stupid 70's crap with the short shorts and lame vert skating." I just think its really sad that kids today have no respect for the pioneers, I mean c'mon, its fucking lance mountain! Hes a god! And even if he was gay it wouldnt matter, he would still shred the shit out of any pool better then anyone else...Had to get all that off my mind
if you want to hear different music and to the intro song go my channel Isigned up yesterday but its a waste of time though just so you know. No comment
Wriog, the deck Peralta pulls out of TV is in fact a Vato Rat, the often used "Rat Bones" is incorrect. I still have one in my basement signed by members of 87 Bones tour. This first PP video here on youtube is better quality than I hoped for. Thanks for putting these up, this stuff is priceless and a real part of skateboard history.
I wonder where my old Steve Caballero skateboard is these days......I stored it away somewhere. It has Gorolla ribs on it and Powell Featherlight trucks.
Awesome opening. Steve Cabellero actually played guitar on that track for all you little homos who skate to rap... and please correct me if im wrong. Thats Tony Cadena from Adolescents who sings for the Faction?
wow what memories I had that video and me and my friends whatched like a bunch of times or so and I had to get one of those powell boards it was long and yellow I called ith bannana board man those were the days ..very very safe to go outside now...oh well
my first pro deck was a hand me down powell peralta lance mountain with that clear grip tape...fucken thanks for posting this... im at work on lunch remembering when skateboarding was still brand new to the world....fucken california made it cool

80´s...good times! Times of Christian Hosoi and Natas Kaupas, my 2 favourites American skaters in that time. Too, In that time, here in Brazil we had god skaters, like Rui Muleque, beto or die (my favourite brazilian shape- by lifestyle), fernandinho batman, Cupim, Mureta, Alexandre Ribeiro, Sérgio negrão, tron and others. Too, I remember that I had a shape of rob roskop (my favourite), trucks tracker (I dreamed of having a Gullwing) and santa cruz's wheels. (U.S. products were expensive)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's natural that the Americans elect an American, and of course, that a Brazilian say "Bob!". I remember the Rodney Mullen, in the 80s, as the king of the freestyle mode and Tony Hawk in vertical. But, to elect the best of all, I think we have to see who was the best overall (freestyle, street, vert ramp and mega). Mullen is the king on the ground and I think in vert, is Bob. Perhaps, by the history of the skateboard, Tony Hawk is the best in general?...
80's... In that time, here in Brazil, we only watching on tv, Hosoi and Hawk disputing the hegemony of the global skateboarding, and dreaming to see, in a day, a Brazilian skater in this place. The time has passed and the dream became a reality ... Bob Burnquist, Sandro Dias, among many others at the top of the world skating! What a pride! (we can not forget about the older Brazilians skaters that are part of this, too)
soccer = Pelé, basketball = Michael Jordan, tenis = Roger Federer, surfboarding = kelly Slater, skateboarding = Tony Hawk or Bob Burnquist? (For me, is Bob. And for you? Who is the king?)
Hello. I'm from São Paulo-SP, Brazil (the South America's skateboarding capital) and in the 80's I saw the fight between Cristian Hosoi and Tony Hawk for the world hegemony. In that time, sure, we only dreamed, but today, I'm very proud to know that Bob Burnquist is the 'Pelé' (the King) of the skateboarding, like the Brazilian skateboarding is on the top of the world. (unfortuneately it still not happened with the Brazilian surfboarding). PS- Sorry 4 my bad english.
Ah the memories. Skating was so much cooler back in the 80's. Decks with distinctive shapes and graphics. The number of times i drew the Steve Cab dragon while in class. Went for a skate on my old Schmitt Stix Joe Lopez the other day.
I agree dude, I got the old Ray Barbee Powell Peralta board, the first one he brought out. I still remember the day that I finally went from a K-mart Bonzer board to getting my own Powell Peralta, it had gulwing trucks with bones wheels :-)
im only 13 but i love these vids more than the newer sk8 vids cause in the bones brigade video show and in animal chin, the guys look like they are havin fun but in the newer sk8vids, nobody is even smiling lol

I love how loose Lance Mountain's trucks are and how he just rides right through the grass after landing those little bonelesses and stuff. I miss these days, we used to share battered old copies of skate videos, they were dubbed so many times you almost couldn't see the picture anymore... Then H Street happened and lit a fire under everyone's ass!
yeah the song is skate and destroy by the faction. either this is steve caballero's fav band or it's the band that he's in. the song is on thps4.btw, ea skate kicks tony hawk's ass when it comes to vid games
Lance Mountain, Chris Miller and Jeff Phillips are the BEST their ever will be. I modeled most of my riding after theirs because no one had better style
Awesome, I remember watching this video until I wore it out. It's unintentionally funny in some parts now, though. That's just time moving on. All skaters and skate fans should watch these old videos to see the evolution. Thanks for posting these, they bring back some great memories.
shit i used to watch this shit all the time....used to ride that steve stedham model with the skull in the spade wit the dreadlocks..anybody remember that shit...steve used to fuck shit up!

The fact that i wasn't very good at skateboarding in the 80's. :(
