  • This isn't a near miss.... this is a near-hit.. A collision is a near miss -_-. *collision* Oh look, they nearly missed.. but not quite!!. - George Carlin

  • Why are they fishing in the middle of the lake? Are there any fish out there?

  • It means Don't buy Jonhson engine.It won't start

  • trolololol

  • actually I think this is a clip form the tv show Beachcombers filmed on Vancouver Island.

  • I know this was a scene from a movie. But damn, that would screw up a fishing trip to look back and see a big old PBY coming toward you. Skilled hands at the controls of this one. Lifted and crossed what?, ten feet above the boat? Good job.

  • Xissrfo its a catalina not a watar bomber lol pwnd bye a 9 yr old :) my brother told me)

  • @jakeday1998 Many of the PBY Catalina's were converted to fire fighting service as water bombers. Because of their size to load capabilities, stability and reliability they lent themselves well to such duties. The PBY is a good old plane and still serves vital roles where in use.

  • @jakeday1998 Not pawned all, gamer boy. That aircraft is a vintage World War II aircraft called the PBY Catalina. In this movie it was being used as a water bomber. Just because a plane gets converted to water bombing doesn't change it's name or model. So take your feeble little "pwnd" brain to a library and do some research before you waive your ignorance all over the Internet.

  • ***Jaws music***

  • 0:32, Pete!

  • Que Jaws theme!!!!

  • @thiekeman11 lmao! YEAH!

  • notice how the elusive pby stealthily sneaks up upon it's prey, but what's this? it has chosen to abandon the hunt at the last minute

  • It was staged. Amateur video wouldn't have had multi-camera angles nor wireless lapel mics on the fisherman, which is obvious by the sound quality of the voice when the one guy gets the attention of the other. Also, instinct would have caused them to dive off the boat and down in the water. It's obviously not CGI but it's definitely a pro or semi-pro shoot with a shot list, etc.

  • @JPDC624 duh

  • was this from a movie?

  • i tell you what it probably ruined the fishing

  • this is from the movie "Always". John Goodman's character flying the PBY

  • My johnson would have started on the first pull.

  • Yes this is real,..it's not CG FUCKIN I....look at the credits for the film 'Always"...do some research.....morons!!!

  • stuffed, but cool anyway

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • First of all, this isn't CGI, it was real. Secondly, it's a stunt from the Richard Dreyfuss movie Always. This was the water bomber being flown by John Goodman's character.

  • @Xissrfo The short catalina wasn't used as a water bomber

  • @MegaBadOFFICAL The real world disagrees with you. However, that's beside the point. The fact remains that this video is a copy from the movie "Always" and in that movie, the Catalina was a water bomber. So what's your point?

  • OA-10 Catalina Flying Boat - as designated by the US Airforce, the PB stood for Patrol Bomber and the Y was for the MFG of the plane (don't remember the name off the top of my head)...

Either way, Good CGI as usual... not real.

  • thats the black cat from call of duty world at war

  • Is it a near miss if it's planed(planned)?

  • @tryithere ....Thats a beer commercial.

Don't you guys watch the super bowl?

  • chuck norris was in that plane

  • are there two engines on the boat? one in the front and one on the back...

  • Telephoto lens compresses the distance between the plane and the boat, creating the illusion.

  • @XL2man nah, if you look at the water, you can see the thrust of the engines of the plane passing the boat withing seconds after going over it... thus it was REALLY close (like 10 meters, but still)...

  • @weetnietgeen I've been a professional cameraman for twenty five years. I think I understand photography and visuals.

  • @XL2man whoopss, messed with the wrong person :P but isnt my theory plausible then?

  • @XL2man Is that why you're always so negative? J/K.

  • "That is bad." "In the nahme of Paulus Peter-Hahne..."

  • LOOOL..loved it. super funny

  • The pilot was trolling!

  • This is a clip from the movie "Always".

  • fake

  • @yakota02 If I was going to be rude, I would have put it in CAPITALS!!! It's still a great/funny clip IMO....

  • i was convinced until 0:38

  • hahah I was so sure the boat people were gonna boat away xDDD

  • WERE GONA BE HIT BY A GREEN SCREEN AHHHHHHHHHH.

  • A near miss would mean that it had hit them right?

  • @Xavar1us NO! a near miss means just that...check your dictionary!

  • HAHA

  • what movie was that from again please

  • @waynehere Always, with Richard Dreyfuss

  • @waynehere i am wondering that too. if you figure it out let me know.

  • @1easterling3 Your comment makes no sense....ancients? as in what or whom...if you're ref'g to the Catalina, yes, it's ancient, first flight in 1935, produced from 1936 through 1945, 1957 retired from US Navy Service....all of which probably pre-dates your family members....must be amazing to be an arm chair expert and know nothing of great importance....

  • BS , thats all i can say ,lol

  • The wonders of the green screen and computer generated imagery.

  • look how he yanks on his johnson

  • @sjlaxer12 lol

  • Seaplane is a generic term for planes that can land on water, they can either be 'floatplane', wich means a traditional land plane wich gear has been replaced with either straight or amphibious floats, or a 'flying boat', a plane wich has been designed from the start to be able to operate on water landing on their belly, shaped like a boat.

  • that plane when it came down it looked like PEDO BEAR

  • Its wingfloats were not down. :S

  • I THINK I CAUGHT A BIG ONE!!!!

  • i'm guessing floatplane is the american term for it.... I'd call it a seaplane but hey!

    Still cool.

  • Sorry, the video's pixels are screwing with me, so I gotta ask: was that plane CGI, or did they get an actual PBY to do that???

  • @EVAUnit4A Actual PBY, but they "green screened" it for the boat in the front. But the PBY Catalina is N9505C from the old SLAFCO fire service, one of two I think they still have.

  • @upupaepops

    Ahh, nice.

I've had the opportunity to see a retired Cat up-close at a small museum recently created on the Seaplane Base at NAS Whidbey Island. So awesome! (That's how I found this video, BTW- looking for Cat videos.)

The Cat is one of my favorite WWII planes, right up there with the Me 262, P-38, P-51, B-17 and B-24.

  • @upupaepops No, there's no green screen!!! It's all real, but simply done with depth-of-field camera work. Simple but effective.

  • why was the plane landing right on top of them anyway.

  • For those who don't know, this is the very beginning of the movie "Always". It's based around a couple of fire bombers, of which, this is one of them. It's really not a bad movie, and that's not a float plane, the term is "Flying hull" or "Flying boat", by the design of the fuselage, or hull.

  • @Jsilva112 nothing pisses me off more then when people correct shit over the internet. i to know that this is a catalina. and catalinas were used in ww2 for reconnaissance missions. are you trying to be smart or something? cuz you completely failed. no one gives a shit what you know about a video clip. we come here for entertainment not to learn.

  • @PsychopathicLlama - Nothing pisses me off more than when people stubbornly refuse to learn anything new, or acknowledge that they're wrong. You're saying, "I already know all I'll ever need to know!" Trouble is, you never know when something new you might learn will come in handy.

  • Gut gesoffen der Pilot

  • From the land of sky blue waters....

  • THEY FELL IN LOL!

  • THEY FELL IN LOL!

  • LOL.... its from the movie ALWAYS!!!

    LOVE that movie :)

  • there u go the reacon why not to do crack while fishing.... u image a plane hitting u and ur stupid penis motor broken

  • shit iv seen this movie..... whats the name?

  • @ronaldo7madrid7 "Always"

  • not a floatplane either...stupid! it s an amphibious PBY Catalina...duh

  • @fly4val Yea obv! who wouldnt know that! DUH

  • @fly4val That's a bit ancients for modern day standards isn't it?

  • @fly4val yes...ok i knew that when i first saw it but you dont need to be rude about someone who may not have known...

  • @fly4val Its considered a floatplane since it floats.

  • @LightoramaLED NO DUMMY....a floatplane is generally a 'land plane' aircraft that has had seperate floats, generaly mfg'd by the EDO mfg co, look it up...Cessna of several different types, DHC Beavers, Twin Otters, etc

You really have to 'want' to land on water if you add floats as it adds much complexity, weight, operating coasts and aero dynamic drag...

  • @fly4val It it floats it is considered a floatplane because holy shit IT FLOATS although it has landing gears.

  • @fly4val PBY Catalina...check out nitroplanes, looks cool and fun to fly

  • Comment removed

  • @fly4val fucking Catalina wine mixer...

  • from the movie "Always"...sorry most of you idiots weren't even born yet.

  • HAHAHA!!!! I got ad for Johnson motor

  • if i were the fishermen i would catch the plane to the sky !

  • O M G...

  • you, your mate and your johnson...

  • lol sht run!!!!!!!

  • no god dammit it was a near hit! if he hit them it would have been a near miss stop mangeling the language

  • obviously its not real...its from a movie

  • Funny scene!

  • hoooo my god, whether what was fake or real, in order to film that, those people and that pilot had to be very accurate!!!!

  • @chitiman21 Or MAYBE! It was Edited with Greenscreen and hell alot of Veteran Editors.

  • never buy a johnson motor ...

  • @yabodmon Evinrude !

  • PBY-5A Catalina POWNAGE

  • LOL! Wast3m is correct, Outboard motors could use this as a great ad!!

  • ya the movie always john goodman richard dryfuss

  • its not a float though its a belly . . . ))) :-0

  • this is not realistic at all....a johnson would at least start by 3rd pull haha

  • piece o poop

  • I agree with walter lol.

  • yeah first thing ill do when i see a plane coming towards me is trying to get the engine on...

  • How is a PBY a float plane? It's a Flying boat.

  • @C4RR14C0U it's from a Spielberg movie called "Always"

  • lol if i owned one of those planes i'd totally be a dick and do that.

  • Whoa. I wonder if they lost their fishing rods?

  • hahaha lol funny

  • EXX DEE XD

  • Okay, watch this one, someone will need to clean their britches after that one

  • Marked down for calling a Consolidated PBY Catalina a "float plane". It's a FLYING BOAT, for crying out loud.

  • @JBofBrisbane Well, if you're going to be so picky about semantics, float plane would be more correct than flying boat, at least in layman's terms. This particular plane is a Consolidated PBY5A. It is amphibious. The difference is flying boats can only land and take off from water. Amphibious planes can land and take off from water or from land. Anyway, "Always" was a pretty good movie; Audrey Hepburn's last.

  • lol

  • 0:45 "you your friends and your johnson" xD

  • The movie is Always.

  • that's so comedy

  • That is NOT a floatplane. It is a Catalina.

  • I know its from a movie, but still funny as hell. lol..

  • I think I'd just jump in the water.

  • This is from the movie "Always" - good film

  • From 0.42-0.44 sec there is operated camera footage from the boat.

    ha ha ha

  • lol if tht was real it would b funny.

  • i would shit everywhere and all the fish would float up to the surface

  • LoL

  • This is fake, the water does not resinate when the plane lands

  • ROTFL, who cares if its fake, its funny =)

  • What an asshole

  • i woud better say "two men in a boat near miss^^"

  • From a movie with Richard Dreyfuss called "Always"

  • Wow good job.lol

  • "Catalina" is a flying boat !

    Float-plane is something quite different!

  • movie stunt or blue screen??? if that was actual stunt thats bad ass

  • STUPID THIS IS FAKE

  • its from a movie......fake

  • there's really no point calling it fake because it's from a movie. people need to calm down.

  • fake and gay?

  • fake and gay.

  • I'm not so sure, I think its more misleading and bisexual

  • @emal510 stop trollin xD

  • What would George Carlin say about these posts?

  • Always (movie)

  • Sweeter than SWEET!

  • Jesus just watch the vid you bunch of self righteous cock holes.

  • Opening scene from the Speilburg movie "Always" Great movie!!! Dawg! Check out my vids to see what the "wing and a prayer plane" looks like now.. IE the Super Decathlon

  • 0.1

  • this isnt a "near miss" ... wtf... it MISSED... if it NEARLY MISSED that would mean it would crash..... stupid ppl naming the videos wrong..

  • Actually no. Near miss implies that it was a miss...but it was near...as in close proximity.

If it nearly missed...then technically it hit. But not by much.

Way to make an ass of yourself...

  • @HappyHappyHarold what ur describing is a near hit... it nearly hit, thus missed, but but very very little. a near miss is the opposite. it hit, but it was so close to missing... i dunno who made that stupid saying anyways, but its retarded, and does not follow its own annalogy, thus contridcting itself. stupid ppl

  • No, he's right. There are all kinds of misses. Near ones, far ones. Like a low pass and high pass. "Near miss" doesn't mean nearly missed, it means missed, and was near.

I bet you're really a fun at parties, huh?

  • lol

  • if it didn't zoom in on that guys face it wouldn't look fake

  • Near miss is an common figure of speech, it is in England anyway. It means a close shave, but not a hit.

  • @bubba123405 a near miss is close to a miss.... so its NOT a miss

  • this shit happens all the time.... fuckin float planes think they own the lakes and forget about boaters

  • I love this film. One of my favorites!

  • fake

  • no shit

  • Telephoto will compress the image. The plane isn't as close as it looks.

  • Comment below.

near miss is a hit? is that the most stupidest comment ive heard all day? Lol.

but yehh, wuda been nice to see sum explodions ahaha.

is this a clip taken from a film? seems like it

  • are you retarded or what, he is right, a near miss is a hit you idiot. lets separate things to leave if a little more simple for you.

    near: close

    miss: not hitting something.

this means close to not hitting something. It means it did hit something but was close to not hitting it.

  • The Irony of this is. . . u mistake me for sumone who gives a shit. . . &

Cheers Oxford dictionairy for that lovely lesson on termonologyyyyyy

  • A near miss is a hit. I was hoping for destruction.

  • you must be fucking retarded

  • A near miss is a hit? God you are an idiot.

Go back to 2nd grade English class. Moron.

  • Great movie! ALWAYS. Starring Richard Dryfuss. This is in the opening scene where John Goodman is dropping his PBY water bomber into a lake to fill it up. Hilarious!

  • no good for Johnson ))

  • Sylwester Cyrulik

  • its sooooooooooooooo fake. different camera angles for close-ups

  • @tompr91 Did you figure that out by yourself? Aaww thats cute!

  • @tompr91 Actually, this shot is real. The boat is there, the plane is there AND at the same time. They just messed with the depth. The plane is quiet a ways further away from the boat when it pulls out of the water.

  • @tompr91 Umm... duh it's fake. It's from a movie: "Always". Good movie, BTW.

  • @tompr91 The stunt was actually performed for the movie.....
